We came for a wedding and almost decided to stay. That's the gravity that tugs at your heart strings when you survey the bounty of beautiful images anchored from the balcony of our room. Talk about a room with a view! It makes your head...More
We got married on Panarea and decided to organise one of our events, a meet and greet party for 50 guests at the terrace of Hotel Raya. They failed on every single account.

We found it quite incredible there are still good reviews about Hotel Raya. It was generally grubby and very tired; the beds in particular had poor quality old mattresses and greyish linen. We booked for 3 days and tried to leave on the earliest ferry...More
Was highly over-priced for the services you receive and the quality of breakfast/ comfort of the rooms/lack of wifi. No small touches eg no torches in the room for walk down very steep stairs/paths in the pitch black; no sewage system on island but open...More

I do not think it means anything special. The hotel have a long history. The owner, Miriam's now dead husbond, build it, I think in the early 70'. They have some connections with Bali, anyways, it was very famous and very high class back then. The waitress'es, all very beautifull, worked topless and only with a bali sarong around their waist. I´ve worked there one summer, 1998, and I think they still survive living on there old reputation and of cause the beautifull setting. I´d just read the review that people have been writing about the hotel, and it´s for sure the quality doesn't equals the price. Is it a 4 or even a 5 star hotel? Well, another hotel would for sure had closed a long time ago if they had offered the same standard for that price. Therefor Im saying that they are living on there old reputations, if they had a heart in this projekt, they would have cuddled it and cured it. ;)
