Myself and 6 others stayed at Tilnik Farm for a few days on a fishing holiday. Kate and Brett were a massive help on our holiday, putting up with changes in plans during booking and Brett organised guides and permits for fishing every day, and even guided for a day. The accommodation was ideal; stunning views, quiet, comfortable, and the...

We stayed for 10 nights and were really sad to leave, we all fell in love with Tilnik farm. Kate & Brett are very kind hosts. It's wonderful views, picking fresh fruit and veg from the garden, Kate's jams, the huge comfy king size bed. Situated half way up the mountain to provide tranquility and beautiful scenes, whilst still close...

Have just returned from an 8 night stay at Tilnik Farm with my girlfriend and my uncle. After arriving in Ljubljana, a 1.5 hour journey through lovely Slovenian countryside brought us to Tilnik which is perched above the Idrijca River valley. The accommodation was comfortable and had a lovely covered terrace allowing us to sit outside come rain or shine....

We were on a fairly busy European trip and in December Tilnik Farm was a wonderful relaxing stop over for 3 nights with small kids. The view is endless. Hosts were really great and left our children a wonderful early Christmas present. Kate's cooking is mouth watering. Amendities are really nice and everything is there including a complementry local drop....

My husband and I spent 9 wonderful days in Apartment 1 at Tilnik Farm during October. From start to finish, Tilnik Farm made for the perfect spot from which to explore the beautiful countryside and to visit some of the interesting destinations within Slovenia (we even popped over the border into Italy for lunch one day!). Brett and Kate were...

Simply put, Tilnik farm is the best place of its type I've stayed. We have just returned from a father & son fly fishing trip to sample the fantastic fishing on offer on the Soca and Idrijca rivers. The proprietors, Kate & Brett, were lovely right from my initial email contact, making my life straightforward to organise the trip, providing...

We enjoyed the peacefulness of this spot very much a would definitely like to come back one day. We did a few hike's starting from the farm to the top of the hill. It's...

We stayed for 14 nights with our family. As Slovenia was unknown to us, it was a great help to get advice from Kate. But that isn't the main reason why Tilnik is a small paradise. Everything begins at the road side down in the vally. Driving up to Stopnik 26, or rather climbing, is an experience whileworth. Because once...

Slovenia is one of our favorite vacation spots- the nature is stunning, the people are friendly. It's an easy going, family friendly destination and Tilnkik Farm, perfectly placed in the gentle foothills of the Julian Alps was a great find! We cannot recommend it highly enough! We spent two delicious weeks basking in the sun (plenty of it), swimming in...

Tilnik is a wonderful spot to enjoy the west side of Slovenia with its lakes, rivers, mountains and clear air. After enjoying the experience of climbing up to this tranquil green paradise, (much easier the second time), we discovered a beautiful setting and got to try out both apartments as the bigger one became available while we were there. With...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Tilnik Farm is a traditional Slovenian farmhouse which has been converted into 2 luxury apartments for guests. It is situated on the Western side of Slovenia 8km from Cerkno in the foothills of the Julian Alps "the sunny side of the alps". The Farmhouse is available all year round with walking, fishing, swimming, water sports, horse riding plus many more activities in the summer and skiing in the winter. The farm is set in an elevated position looking down the Idrijca river valley. This is a working farm with animals surrounded by organic gardens and hay meadows, fruit trees and forests. There is a large stream running through the property with deep clear pools and waterfalls containing Cray fish and rainbow/brown trout this eventually joins up with the Idrijca River. The overall aim of Tilnik Farm is to have a self-sufficient enterprise combining sustainable tourism with organic farming. At the moment the livestock of the farm includes; sheep, goats and chickens providing fresh eggs, dairy and meat and a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. We have our own renewable fuel (firewood, hydro electric and solar powered energy). The Farm is run by Brett and Kate Bedford with their two dogs Lupa and Ruby who re-located to Slovenia in 2005. They live on site and try to help guests get the most out of there stay by offering advice on places to visit and what to see in Slovenia. They also offer fresh, organic farm produce and pick your own fruit and veggies. ... more   less
