This surprisingly good hotel is situated at the head of the road near the shrine. It offers great value meals. Only €18 for a fantastic three course evening meal including wine. The rooms are large and, like all Spanish hotels, spotlessly clean. To be recommended.

We booked Junior Suite. They sell a 150cm wide bed as double in a suite! We changed to Grand Suite. There is not only mould in the bathroom but in the bedroom as well. Carpeting has stains everywhere. Stains on the wallpaper as well. Chair next to me in the breakfast room dirty like in the cheapest take away. In... More

If you must stay in Covadonga this is the place with regard to location as at the heart of all the main attractions and is a quiet oasis in what can become an extremely crowded place. Despite the amazing location the service levels are no where near what to expect for a 4 star hotel. Good points, friendly check in,... More

Worst bit is the many visitors, including bus loads, to this tiny place which bung the place up completely especially for nine days in the run up to the festival on the 7th September. You can't get back to your hotel during the day, there is so much traffic. We went up to the lakes, a lovely area, early one... More

From my point of view, the best located hotel: is near to Santuario and Santa Cueva de Covadonga: couple of minutes walking. Just imagine: to visit these places after the tourists hours and to be almost alone-it's priceless. Also suitable entrance to the lake area (Lago de Enol and Lago de la Ercina), both by car or autobus. About some... More

This is quite a fancy hotel. The lobby is huge and the personnel are quite polite, helping their clients at all times. Our room was huge. Even though there is no A/C, we could leave our windows open without having to worry about mosquitoes. They had huge anti-mosquito curtains. The WIFI was not working at all. The clerk didn’t know... Has got to be one of the most picturesque and best located hotels in Asturias, walking distance from the shrine and the basilica. It is truly sad to see the lack of attention or maybe lack of personnel at the hotel which made the service in the restaurant, the bar and even the reception rather painful. Great hotel, great location,... More

A rather odd hotel. I didn't realise when I booked that Covadonga exists purely for the religious/historical pilgrim visits and is not a town as such. There are no facilities or alternative eating places without travelling to next town. The large hotel is dated but clean and comfortable. If only we hadn't had to rely on the restaurant I may... We have visited Covadonga and Cangas before. We have previously stayed in the Parador at Cangas. This time we thought we would try the Gran Pelayo - I did actually phone from Portugal to try to make the booking but when I asked, politely, if they spoke English, I was greeted with a very emphatic NO and the call being... We stayed in the Hotel Gran Pelayo for two nights; considering this is supposedly a four star hotel the level of service and hospitality, in particular, was very poor. The location and parking were poor. The hotel is located just steps away from the Basilica at Covadonga which - in itself - is an interesting place to visit along with... More
