Capofaro is a refuge, an oasis, inspired by love for beauty, expressed by the owners the Tasca d’Almerita family. The classic Eolian style whitewashed buildings, adorned with bougainvillea flowers and the fresh water swimming pool stand among six hectares of Malvasia vineyards; which produce both dry and sweet wines. Before guests the horizon stretches out, broken only by the silhouettes of the volcanic islands of Stromboli and Panarea in turquoise sea. The twenty-seven rooms all have a private terrace with either a sea or garden view. They are divided into five types – standard, superior, junior suite, exclusive suite and imperial suite. From 2018 six rooms with their own garden will occupy the hotel's lighthouse which overlooks the Capofaro cliff and the splendour of the Aeolian sea, with the twin mountains of Salina behind it. The chef at Capofaro leads guests on a sun-drenched gastronomic journey, infused with the salty and sweet flavours of the produce grown in the property's

I just fell in love with Capofaro on arrival. The room was delightful just up from the pool and our friends were in the adjacent block - it felt so comfortable with a dee terrace to sit and read, or have a little drink before dinner with a fab sea view.
The pool area was sleek and well appointed, with a raised terrace overlooking the sea that was perfect for after dinner grappa and long games of back gammon.
The food was all locally sourced and delicious. The pasta pomodoro was the best I have ever had. Meanwhile the breakfast buffet was a feast in every sense. I truly hope to come back one day.

Last year in our review, we said we would come back. We did and we weren’t disappointed.

The hotel is just as stunning as we remembered – in the middle of a vineyard, with beautiful gardens everywhere and its eponymous lighthouse. Our room was in the lighthouse section, with a little patio/terrace area with comfy chairs and sunbeds plus its very own front door. It was charming and very comfortable. We also loved the very comfortable bed, the excellent espresso machine and the sustainable toiletries.

Just like last year the young equipe is extremely professional, charming and friendly. The sommeliers constantly came up with interesting local and other Sicilian wines – not just the Tasca d’Almerita ones; wines we wouldn’t get at home and why try anything else!

The breakfast is a delicious buffet served in the restaurant, with all manner of Sicilian specialities, both hot and cold food, divine cakes, freshly-made bread to die for, freshly squeezed juices from all kinds of delicious fruits. There are also a la carte options, so something to everyone’s liking. Dinner in the restaurant is also highly recommended. Everything is made with produce from their own herb and vegetable garden and you taste it!.

The pool is beautiful with comfortable sun beds, lovely soft towels and parasols and impeccable pool-side service.

Capofaro Locanda & Malvasia delivered again and met our high hopes!!

Minimalist furnishings in the room means it isn’t all that comfortable just hanging around in the room. I wish we had a better couch to sit in instead of the tall day bed. The staff were super nice. The wine guy was knowledgeable but not expert on the wines. I’m glad we went at the end of the season when it wasn’t crowded, otherwise it would have been too crowded. Things to add: a bathroom scale, better pillows, a washcloth, a better blanket.

We visited the Capofaro Locando & Malvasia for 3 nights in early September. We were told that our room was being upgraded and were assigned a “Capofaro” (lighthouse) room with a roof patio with no chairs. There were no water views from inside the room. The chairs on our garden patio did not have the necessary cushions put on them. With this, we felt that we were captive to the inside of the room or the resort’s common areas.

The dinner in the restaurant the first night was exceptional. The shuttle service offered to a couple of villages on Salina was timely and well run.

As is customary in Italy, breakfast is included with an accommodation. The breakfast offerings at Capofaro was very disappointing. Eggs were not offered unless you asked and anything other than scrambled, fried, or poached eggs were offered at a stiff up charge. The fruit offerings were minimal.

Services were also lacking. We requested ice for our room twice. The first time, it took 45 minutes to get ice. The second time, it never came. My wife asked the person making up the room for an extra bath towel for her hair. Our expectation is that it would be repeated daily. It was not.

This property was stunning! The vineyard and the beautiful flowers throughout the property were incredible. The view from our villa was amazing. Got to see the sunset and see the volcano on Stromboli erupt from our villa patio at night was a bonus! Only issue with the place is the flies. This issue must be addressed, as it was horrible everywhere, on the patio, the pool area, the restaurant area. Fly traps are needed. Otherwise, impeccable stay. The staff could not do enough for us and arranged all transportation as needed into town. The beach club is a great way to relax, the views are great, you can walk to the little town to eat, and NO flies:) Oh, and to see all the vegetables and herbs etc. they grow right on property was amazing. I got to see eggplants growing, sage, rosemary, tomatoes, lettuce, zucchini...farm to table for sure! I cannot wait to return next September. Weather was fantastic and not too crowded in town.

Our hotel told us that Capofaro is considered the most beautiful property in Sicily and it did not disappoint. The wine is incredible. The views are overwhelmingly stunning. The Sommeliers were multi-lingual and extremely knowledgeable. The pool is beautiful too. I was traveling with a friend from California and she said "this looks like the most beautiful vineyard in Napa, but on the Ocean."

Restaurant service hopelessly slow for the price. Restaurant itself outrageously priced for what it is. WiFi poor. Don’t believe the hype. Go somewhere else for half the price and you’re likely to have a much better experience. Over- promoted. Avoid

With my wife we stayed in the Capofaro Resort for 7 nights during our honeymoon in mid-june 2006 ((--)). The place is simply wonderful. The place has been recently refurbished. It is a small resort, with some 12 or so rooms, including some suites. Each room is indeed a little house, with opwn terrace. If you can chose, ask for number the 20. The staff is super-helpful and welcoming.

The resort, a property of the Tasca D' Almerita wine maker, is in the middle of the vineyards. It has a magnificient view on the sea, a superbe swimming pool and the best restaurant of the island.

A tennis court, a nice club house with tv and free internet, the great valeu of food and drinks and the possibility to book a trip on a private boat are additional must.

We paid 250 euro per night, breakfats included. Prices go up in July and August.

We will definitively go back.

How do you get from the ferry stop to the hotel?
Answer from Hernst_74
Rome, Italy216 contributions74 helpful votes
the hotel should contact you a few days before the arrival to arrange the shuttle service (free) to the hotel from the port, if you don't receive any phone call try to call them otherwise there is the bus stop or the taxi from the port.

C'è una spiaggia convenzionata con l'hotel Capofaro. Viene effettuato un servizio di transfer dal l'hotel gratuitamente a degli orari stabiliti . Il nome non lo ricordo ma sono certo che c'è.
