Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For this level of hotel (3*), I can confidently give the Lankham Hotel an excellent rating. It is large, clean, well-known by locals, and the family who runs it is super friendly and super helpful. That's why I happily returned to this hotel when I swung back through Pakse on my way back to Thailand.

We have been travelling SE Asia for 5 weeks, staying in basic rooms with a fan, this has to be the worst place we have stayed. Bugs all in the bed, ants everywhere, horrible smell from the toilet periodically and the beds are plastic and hard as a rock. At night they don't turn the hall lights off and there's no curtains on some windows so its bright all night. None of the windows open (despite there being fly screens) so the room is 10 degrees hotter inside than outside. We have stayed in nicer places for less. Only good thing is the mini mart across the road- air-conditioning in there is amazing to stand in before you have to proceed to your hot box sleeping on a plastic bed.

We stayed here about 10 years ago. Still OK 60,000 for double room with fan. Room top floor clean and spacious. Towels provided. 2 litres of free water given every morning along with small soaps and shampoo. Staff helpful and pleasant.Hotel has a faded glory about it but it has its charm. WiFi intermittent on top floor. Good location for onward travel.

My friend and I stayed 3 nights in this hostel. It was 100,000 kip (approximately 10€/$) for a double room with AC, TV, a private bathroom and a fridge. They offer you a bottle of water, and towels are included (not very clean but that’s okay). The room is small but very clean. Our room was in front of the road, so it was a bit noisy. The staff was helpful, and you can book bus tours and even rent motorbikes. The hostel is well located.

The place is very cheap but its moldy and a dead rat was noted in the bathroom. Once the staff was made aware, they were very accommodating and changed rooms. It is central and can easily take a tuktuk to the airport. It is also near good restaurants.

Pakse's distinctive brand of sleepy living with Mekong views and breezes is well complemented by hotels such as the Lankham. For inexpensive rates, the rooms (mine a twin single room with a fan) are large, while needing a reno and maintenance, it all completes a very inexpensive way of easy living. They finished the big bridge since I was last here, so traffic is an issue on the main road, depending on sleeping tolerances. The bottom line is whether you are traveling Asia on a shoestring or whether you instead spend any coin at all really. That's one way of saying that there is not a single hotel room of any size in Australia for less than $10 a night, for example:)

I stayed two nights at this hotel and was very happy having chosen the recently renovated deluxe room, very nice and quiet (no. 352 if I recall correctly...). The room was spacious and spotless with a very comfortable bed, big flat screen TV with satellite channels. Big bathroom with good shower. Had a scrambled egg baguette with some vegetables both mornings and it was very fresh and tasty. The money changer downstairs is efficient.

The one thing I would recommend about this place is the currency exchange bureau in the lobby. It has good rates and is no hassle. However, you can use that as a non-guest, so there is no reason to stay here to use it. I had an awful breakfast here which was a bowl of liver and chicken cartilage. Avoid having breakfast here unless you like organs in your noodles. However, the real problem with this place is the terrible night sleep. The hotel is riddled with buzzing mosquitoes. What really keeps you up though is the corridor lights which are ridiculously bright. The high window over the door door has no curtains and the bright light shines right in your face. There is really nothing you can do about it. You can't move the whole bed. Overall, I would recommend all but the heaviest of sleepers to avoid it.

The small rooms are very small and only recommended for a nights transit. The front of the rooms is open to noise from the road very early reverberating and echoing. On the upside it is a clean hotel with good check in services. Money changing if required and travel booking services.
