A review, is a personal experience, personal taste, personal perspective. in my opinion ... I give Grand Sirenis Cayo Santa Maria for its absolutely beautiful accommodation buildings. The colour they chose for the siding is breathtaking. So beachy! The junior suites are elegantly laid out, with all the perfect touches. You can't go wrong with the resort as a whole. I heard the crowd complain about lack of hot water, the food, the service etc. etc. The food is definitely not like home, and sometime they run out of this or that ... if you do your research carefully before you book your Cuba holiday, these experiences in Cuba is simply part of their culture. The service was very good, like any other resort, some do more than others, Go out of their way to please the tourists. I give it a 5 star for its architecture, the pools, the beach. 4 1/2 star for the service, the friendliness of the staff and a 4 star for the food in general. Enjoy your Cuba holiday ...

Travelled Mar 10-17 to this absolutely terrible resort. This is our 25th all inclusive vacation and 4th trip to Cuba. I will also mention that I have never given 1 star to any other resort. Here are the sad but true facts: 1. Food The absolute worst anywhere. This resort clearly has a very poor budget, or really bad management perhaps. Buffet is an absolute joke. (Hope you like chopped up sausages a lot)! The flies are also a big problem. Ala Carte restaurants aren’t any better. Waiting staff speak very little English and even less French. The outside grill is also bad with 3-4 repetitive items daily. The only thing good about the food was that I came home 5 pounds lighter. 2. Rooms They look a lot nicer in the pictures online. Cudos to the photographer! It took 3 different rooms and 10 hours later to get the room that we upgraded to. Front desk is awful! Beds have only 1 long pillow to share and only a sheet. (No blanket). These rooms are ok for couples, but the shower in the middle of the room is terrible for families! Not sure what they were thinking here! 3. Pools They have 2 small Freezing cold unheated average looking pools. If you’ve travelled a lot, you won’t be impressed. Swim up bars have very limited selection. Bartenders do a decent job with what they do have. Good luck with the bathrooms around the pools, as they are very dirty with no toilet paper! (5 star service?) 4. Beach The beach is average. (Really nothing special here.) It’s wide and very long, with nice calm water. Lots and lots of sharp shells. We all came home with cut up feet. There are workers that put your chairs out for you. Those same guys are also bartenders and servers. They do work hard. There are peddle boats and kayaks to take out whenever you want for an hour at a time. There is nothing bad about this beach but some reviewers are building it up to be something it isn’t. 5. Drinks The only bar that appears to have a decent selection of spirits is the lobby bar. I say appears because they do show bottles of premium liquor, however they pour Rum in the various different bottles. If you order an Absolute vodka, you get Rum pouring out of the bottle. This was absolutely ridiculous that they think that they are fooling people. Basically, they have Cuban rum, and Cuban versions of a few other types of alcohol. 6.Entertainment Haha, what entertainment!? Non existent. They do have a theatre with a dance team, but the 2 shows they did put on were laughable! Karaoke in the lobby was almost ok. This resort had by far the worst entertainment of anywhere we’ve been. I guess my message here is: DO NOT BOOK THIS VACATION PROPERTY!! And to the management: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! LOL! You’ve managed to make this new resort look 10 years old already! And if you want to call yourself a 5 star resort, toilet paper would be a good place to start!

We stayed at the Grand Sirenis in Cayo Santa Maria first week of March 2020. Before the entire COVID-19 madness. We were a family of 3, did not expect much and overall had a wonderful vacation. Our room was at the main building on the third floor, when we arrived it was clean - I requested a blow dryer and within 10 minutes they brought it up to my room. We brought an extra roll of toilet paper and never used it, they always stocked up on our toilet paper but sometimes missed stocking up on the soap. Not a big issue for us as we brought our own. Towels were changed daily, beach towels were also in our room upon arrival. You were able to switch those out at the towel stations by the pool or the maid. The resort itself was pretty clean. Both pools were clean as well - no musky water or anything. The service we received was amazing. Lobby bar is usually the busiest bar especially at night so service was sometimes slow. Bartender Daniel at the pool bar is wonderful. Always remembered our drinks and had a smile on his face every day. Stephanie at the kids club is amazing - kids love her! We booked 4 a la cartes the second day we arrived all at once. I found the Seafood restaurant to be the best. Buffet food was ok. Small selection and sometimes repetitive. We never went hungry here- for lunch we mainly went to the beach bar and had deep fried fish and burgers there which was amazing. The beach had to be our favorite part of our vacation. Also where we spent the most time. There was always staff there to grab beach chairs and servers taking your drink orders. The sand had a lot of broken shells but the water was none the less breath taking. Not much beach entertainment going on, there was always music playing. Shaded area is far away from the water. Overall, beautiful resort and will definitely be a full 5 star resort once they work out all the kinks and have all areas of the resort open for sure. Only thing I would recommend to management is some how get the fly situation under control. Its annoying when you're trying to eat while waving your arms in the air to get the fies to leave you alone at the same time.

Well we arrived at noon, went to the grill for lunch and sat at a filthy table so moved to another only to find they were all as dirty. We were informed all there was to eat was deep fried processed potatoe balls. There were flies everywhere swarming around our face. Waited for buffett to open only to find as many flies in the restaurant as the outdoor grill, they were even between slices of bread in the baskets and on all the rolls and food. they were on our tables as well. Food was a disgrace most days, only breakfast was ok ,ate boiled eggs 7 days in a row. Our room was dirty with last guest urine all over toilet and toothpaste in sink. When Maid came to clean the room she used dry toiletpaper to clean the sink and kept her toilet brush up beside the clean toiletries in a paper cup on her cart, she had no cleaning product just water.I asked her to leave and I took my bodywash , disinfecting wipes and a towel I had brought from home and cleaned my room myself The hallways and stairs were filthy, No toilet paper in public washrooms , we witnessed a worker at the grill serve fries by picking them up by his hands and putting them on plates. Very long and unpleasant week. I had been to cuba 7 times before to different resorts and never had that bad of an experience,My husband and I travel to all inclusive often 2 trips per year most years so we know what to expect and we are reasonable with our expectations but as you can read from other reviews this resort is dirty no proper hygiene can pose a health risk to the guests and that is a concern to me.

We had a really great experience overall...you cannot expect high quality food or drink as Riviera Maya or some place like these.... We traveled with less request or attend than anywhere else and we were really surprised...Service was really good, Cuban came at us and offer seats and tables with great view...and excellent service....without any back mind of tips....all approach where true and honest. We want to thank in a particular way Yoandy (nickname RedBull) at the buffet who serve us as nobody else, it was his first week on site....and Yoandry at the French and Grill restaurant who tried to interact with us with french speaking...he tried to improve his skills and his proud of it! And all that with an excellent service!! Many thanks to these two guys! Overall, we are in Cuba, so cleaning is good but not as good in Mexico or Republic...The hotel was not completely finish on my tough....and only 4 months old... But cleaning overall is very good and I've not seen any sign of "going fast" in public area, spending time in the lobby is really great and a lot of entertainment! They had many issues with valentine's day and now COVID-19 that cannot help.... But overall, finishing in rooms can be improved. In our bathroom, the plaster joint was not completely sanded and paint, I saw some place on tiles with tile cement that was not sanded or cleaned...sign of going fast. Few mistakes like these I've noticed overall...but we usually spent time on beach and pools other than in the room! So overall, our time on beach and pools was really good! But no leaking, all was nicely cleaned (fast but ok!) Our room was clean without any problem...we stayed in the building #6. Like other comments, chairs are a little far away from beach side and it can be bad for many travelers. Service on beach was really good, enough for our needs and they have specific people to help you with chairs, putting them on place, cleaning them and make sure you have the right spot you want! The buffet is ok with a lot of variety, but if you like big smooth steak or other meats, you may be disappointed. Meat food is overcooked on my point...but we don't want to be sick with bacteries...so we dealed with it! Overall, we had a really good experience on this site and may consider to going back in a few years...
