Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have stayed at Magmai several times and will try to stay there next week on our way to Chiangrai. It is a very reasonably priced place, clean and tidy and with everything anyone would need for an overnighter. Only sort-of negative comment I would have is the breakfast is tailored towards Thais' only but I always order specially cooked eggs or similar which they come up with no problem at all; and after all 99% of their guests are Thai anyway.I have often stayed at 3 other hotels in Tak but Magmai beats them all these days.

My wife's brother suggested this was a good halfway stopping place between Chiang Mai and Bangkok and we were so glad we took his advice. The rooms are all separate houses made entirely of teak, some looking like the original tree and others well-finished. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable and the price was great. To top it off, we had a fantastic dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend Magmai.

my short overnight stay plan has been changed to a longer relaxing time in this in-town resort with the unexpected natural surroundings

Location: *****
on Highway 12 in the suburb of Tak province, easily assess by private car and public transport

Universal design: **
possibly accessible by a wheelchair with a helper in most area, many steps more than 10 cm. high in front of the room, no disabled toilet and parking, the toilet bathroom door is just 68 cm. width.

Cleanness: **
the dining rooms and toilets are clean but need good maintenance, some insects and mosquitoes in the room during the night

Safety: ****
safety and securities in all area with security guards

Food: ***
included breakfast is simple with boiled rice, egg, sausage, vegetables, and common fruits should be much better if local food is also available

Privacy: ****
able to maintain guest’s privacy in most of the area

Internet: *****
fast and strong signal free wifi in the room, no need password

Staffs: **
the staff should pay more attention to the guest’s request, I asked for an in-room meal at a specific time, but they did not follow my request

Facilities: ****
standard facilities in the room, many beautiful garden and photograph spots

Value: *****
low price for the more-than-expect service

Staff very helpful and accommodating. Cabins clean and well maintained. Free buffet breakfast was a pleasant surprise with both Thai and western style food. Hard to find, but worth the search. Highly recommend.

We recently had the opportunity to stay at Magmai Riverside home on our trip to Thailand. The house was beautiful and clean. Kitchen updated and spacious...enough room for a large group to eat. Outside along the river was beautiful. The attendants that care for the house each day were very helpful. Our hosts were very gracious and accommodating. We enjoyed dinner for a couple evenings at Magmai Resort which was about a 10 minute drive. It was delicious. Service was excellent and they did well with our limited knowledge of the Thai Language! The individual cabin type houses at Magmai Resort are beautiful and well kept. There also also hotel type rooms. We definitely would stay there next time. We especially enjoyed the coffee shop! Magmai is a great stopping point either to or from Chiang Mai. It was an easy 3 hour drive. We ate at several restaurants in Tak that were delicious. We traveled to Sukhothai (approx. 45 min drive) to visit the historical site, it was amazing. Travel either by car to Tak or use Sukhothai airport nearby. It was excellent service and easy to find.

The Best in Tak. All our friends who come to visit stay here. There is a restaurant that cooks tasty Thai dishes, but be warned that not much English spoken. They have very nice cabins and a log building with rooms also.

Came to Tak for friends wedding. Magmai was recommended as our home stay. Your choice of ground floor hotel rooms, bungalows or A-Frames. Nicely landscaped and clean. Coffee shop on site as well as restaurant. Superb housekeeping staff and quick quick laundry service. Very near Bus station. Recommend this Tuk tuk driver Mr. Prayup 089-5679083 - will take you where you want to go - affordable. Be sure to walk across the Foot bridge crossing the Ping River. Nice walking market along river in town.
Be sure to include a meal at Muang Nok Muang Na Restaurant - Great American burgers/steak/pizza/fries. Call Krisana 089-2010017 for directions or have Mr. Prayup take you there. Tak very clean and people friendly.

Wonderful wood cabins set in a nice gardens setting. Also rooms in a hotel like long building reception with comfortable beds and down comforts, hot water and mostly Thai TV. The cabins are all different and have seating front porches looking out on the gardens. Free breakfast included for around 400 baht for cabin, and 380 baht for room. 2km east of Tak bus station on the South side of the road. No English signs, so look for cabins from the highway visible from the road. This is where our friends always stay when we have visitors come. Some have said it was the best place they've stayed in Thailand. Some English spoken. Friendly staff!

This is a family style resort with small, attractive wood bungalows and several small ponds to add a natural touch. The Thai camp atmosphere will be apparent when you go to breakfast--low quality with limited Thai style options. The bungalows are comfortable with Thai style bathrooms (a central shower spreads water over the whole floor). There is free WiFi throughout the resort. It is located right on highway 12, a little east of Tak. Since there are no other visitor services in the area, the on-site restaurant is useful.

This Thai Resort is located about 2km East of the Tak bus station on the highway to Sulkothai. (No English on the signs in front!) You can take a samlore from the bus station to get there. (No taxis in Tak) They have around 20 cabins that are beautifully made of old wood the owner milled from old trees! All set in a nice garden! There is a long building with around 25 rooms (380 baht) that have wonderful beds and down comforters, refrigerators and A/C, but only Thai TV shows! Free Wifi also. Free Thai breakfast included! I live in Tak and always have our guests that come here stay there.
