Convenient hotel for a one-night stopover as it is located on the roadside between Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Clean and comfortable bedding. Parking available. Clean and quiet but without particular charm. Very basic breakfast.

Like many roadside motels in Thailand, Suansin Lanna only accepts reservation by phone so I called to book a standard room four days in advance and even confirmed that the reception had my name and mobile number written down. But when I showed up around 4 pm on a busy Friday afternoon, an employee who claimed she just started her shift minutes ago couldn’t find my name or phone number. She then tried to play the blame game by accusing me of having contacted the wrong hotel. Finally, after I showed her my phone record, she could no longer make any excuse but still didn’t offer an apology. At this point only one twin room was available and I had no choice but to take it.

The reasonably sized room in the new wing was clean and equipped with an air-con, a flat-screen TV with Thai channels only, and a huge fridge with two complimentary bottles of water (but not hairdryer, shampoo or dental kit). Although the hotel was within walking distance from Big C, the rooms weren't noisy at all, making it an ideal alternative to soulless city hotels. Yet what really made it stand out from the crowd were the ample space to put belongings in the bedroom and the separated shower corner in the bathroom. I found it unbelievable that this cost only 400 baht per night including breakfast for non-diabetics (toasts, cookies, pineapple biscuits, hot Ovaltine and 100% concentrated juice). Honestly I would have rated it four stars if the staff, however unfriendly, hadn't screwed up my reservation.

It is a large hotel in a big vicinity where the rooms are mostly on ground level in a long row. Typical of Thai resort for tired travelers that came on their own vehicles. As we came on our motorcycles, this hotel was just perfect for us. Every room has its own parking space. Fan room was 299bh with 2 beds and comes with a simple coffee, fresh juice , bread and butter breakfast.

Rooms were clean, however no hotshower for fan room. Highly recommended for road travelers.

Reasonable for its location on the main road and very good for day travelers (with car). Walking distance to big c and all other amenities. Out of the town center. Comes with a simple breakfast of bread n hot drink.

Good value for your money. Hotel provided a good standard amenities with acceptable price. LCD TV, big refrigerator, DVD player, PC Computer, etc are provided. Easy access from main road (highway no 1) BKK - Chiangmai. Plenty of parking lot. Despite no fully American breakfast the hotel serves toasted slice bread with jam and margarine, coffee. All included in THB 500 per night only. Recommended.

Decent rooms. Wife and I had a large double room with a/c, refrig ,TV and hot water, for B380. Nothing special but clean and will stay there again on our next trip north in December. They even offer a free breakfast consisting of toast/jam and some assorted drinks like coffee, tea etc.
Note: Their are two Suansin hotels, same owner. One is located on the road next to the TescoLotus on the main highway, route 1, and the other is about 1 km away. Here is their phone number: 055 891333 I got cards from both hotels and this number is listed on both cards so if you call be sure you specify which hotel you want to stay.
