Stayed one night on a walking trip. The room was a little quirky with a few stairs and a half wall. It was clean, warm, the towels were great, there were in room refreshments. The best part was the quietness of the room (no staying above the kitchens or on a main road). The more it rained the bigger two damp...

I ate the grilled cheese burger it was lovely and chips were great too. Staff were exceptionally friendly and prompt to bring everything we needed a 15 min wait for food was good as the place was packed. My husband and I visited the fish inn after being recommended by a friend who said it was one of the nicest places he had been. My husband had Cumberland sausage with chip and I had a soup and sandwich which were both delicious and well worth the money. The scenery and the walk surround the Inn was out of...

Buttermere doesn't offer a large selection of places to stay, but the Fish Inn is good for a meal and a night's rest. The rooms are clean and a bit larger than I'd expected from a country inn. Like most older places, the power outlets are few so either recharge your electronics (camera batters, &c.) in sequence or bring a...

Bar prices were £3.20/ £4 a pint and about £5 for a large a glass of wine, which is just about what i expected to pay.Plenty of seating in the bar/ restaurant area with seating outside of warm afternoon and evenings.Breakfasts were...

Had supper here as was forced to abandon wild camping due to weather. Had fishcakes which I don't think were homemade , bit dry and leathery. Chips were OK Menu was too fussy and extensive so expect food is bought in. However, it was clean but not much atmosphere

Stayed here on circuit of lakes, basic pub meal at really good price. Rooms clean, spacious if a bit tired, fluffy towels, good choice for breakfast including kippers, we found the staff to be really friendly and would definitely return.

We stayed here recently as a couple. The venue was relatively well maintained and clean for the star rating. The decor was however in need to an update and the food quality was sub-par (especially from the restaurant during midday and evening meals). There is little choice for venues in this region, however, and Buttermere itself is highly recommended as...

Visited today after a lovely walk round Buttermere. With it being a Lake District pub in a lovely location we expected a great meal. Sorry to say it was awful. I had the Aberdeen Angus burger and quite honestly Burger King is better. Frozen chips as well. My wife and daughter had the scampi which they said was ok but...
