For us this hotel is ideal. Have stayed here 5/6 times now. It has a perfect location. It is safe and clean with a good breakfast with good coffee etc. It is two blocks from the beach near posto 8. Mostly Brazilians stay here as its Brazilian style. A nice leafy green secure entrance leads to steps to reception. Rooms...

Stayed for one week during the world cup. 3 person room was spacious & comfortable. Cleaned thoroughly everyday. No security issues at all & the staff were very friendly/helpful. They helped us book sightseeing tours & also arrange our transfers to/from the airport. Location was ideal as it was 5-10 minute walk to either Copacabana or Ipanema beach. I'd definately...

I was in my "room" for ten minutes, before I got on my cellphone and started searching for another hotel...with my own data (their WiFi doesn't work - in your room or in the lobby - of course). I booked another hotel and accepted the loss of my prepaid fee of $160 USD, for two nights. Nevertheless, that is how...

We spent New Year's Eve in a large group and booked three rooms with private bathroom in this hotel. The hotel is in a convenient location, a few blocks away from both Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. Rooms were large, with large bathrooms, but not every bathroom had good ventilation. All rooms have cable TV, air conditioning and fridge. Beds are...

I stayed here with a large group for World Youth Day. The location was great for the price we paid. The guys at the front desk were extremely helpful, they spoke English fluently. Basic rooms, not ideal for spending all day in, but who wants to when you're on vacation. Breakfast was something to look forward to. We enjoyed our...

I traveled with a buddy to Rio to experience the 2013 Carnival. We booked this place because it was the cheapest for its location which is about a 5 minute walk to Ipanema beach. I read the reviews and figured it couldn't that bad. Was I ever wrong. First off the hotel is hard to find. I suggest you print...

Even after reading the reviews here we still chose to risk staying here in the lead up to Carnivale. Very close to everything and the desk staff here were amazing (Bernardo and Luciano). Room was ok, plain, but that was all we needed. Bernardo and Luciano could not have been more helpful (after we had made a stuff up with...

This is the absolute worst place ever!!! Imagine sleeping in a dumpster then multiply that by ten! It is right in front of a notoriously dangerous favela, and you can hear gun shots all night! As for the rooms it literally looked like a prison cell, it was so dirty I slept with my shoes on, the walls were so...

After everything I’ve read here about this hotel, I was even afraid to stay there, but giving the absurdly expensive prices in Rio the Janeiro and the fact that the other hotel with similar prices was unavailable, I decided to stay in this hotel. It wasn’t that bad, but for the price paid I could have stayed in better hotels...

Staying in Ipanema

Neighbourhood Profile
Ipanema
Ipanema is considered Rio's crown jewel. It offers the best view of the sunset from Arpoador and is inspiration for the legendary song, “The Girl from Ipanema.” Ipanema is an upscale area, home to many high-end restaurants and luxury shops, many of which can be found on the charming Garcia d'Ávila Avenue. The neighbourhood is very rich culturally, housing many art galleries that show contemporary art. There is also a great variety of nightlife in the neighbourhood, which buzzes with many options for every taste.
