Extremely quiet, beautiful, calm and rustic place in midst of otherwise dusty town of Gwalior. The property is fantastic. The staff and management were very helpful and courteous. The gardens are fantastic, the sight of peacocks at your doorstep in morning is good surprise. The food was fantastic. The only one thing I wish this place had was a spa...

It was our first experience with Neemrana Hotels and was enchanting! A place where nature and history blends organically. Rooms exude rustic charm. We stayed for 2 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff is very helpful. Ambience is great! Nicely maintained. Sipping a cup of tea early in the morning while relaxing in the room balcony overlooking the beautifully manicured...

It's a nice peaceful warm and comfortable stay, the property gives a deal of a heritage property, with no TV's in room gives you ample time to talk and to activities you had been ignoring....... The place is a bit difficult to locate so it's best advisable to call the resort than follow Google. Please make sure you plan your...

If someone is planning a trip to Gwalior, he/she may consider the option of staying at Deobagh under the Neemrana group of hotels. Laid out amidst a beautiful garden with 17th century exquisitely carved temples, chattis-dari (36 doors structure), hathi khana & horse stables surrounding you, you have peacocks, parrots, egrets & squirrels to give company. This is the place...

Extremely beautiful outdoors, but very disappointed with the room, name of our room was Dhanur mahal. The main door was broken, mended with corrugated sheet.and extremely claustrophobic. And we found a big lizard on the wall. This is not what we expected from the Neemrana Group of Hotels.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Awaken history in a Char-bagh where Mughal emperors once camped ! History has it that in the late 1500 AD important Mughals camped in this “char bagh” with a stunning chhattis-dari (36-pillared pavilion) at its heart. Its underground chamber, surrounded by water during the summer provided a cool resting place for the women. Later, as the conquering Maratha army marched towards Delhi, the Jadhavs took possession of this natural water catchment area. Sardar Deorao Bhausaheb Jadhav and his son Sardar Krishnarao Deorao Jadhav used this 'bagh' as a summer house with the ladies’ section in Deo Bagh and the mens’ section in Jai Vihar, the family's current home. The garden complex houses the most exquisite family temples, a ‘hathi khana’ for elephants, horse stables and cenotaphs. Important Gwalior State meetings, especially against the British – when the valiant Rani of Jhansi fought from the fort rampart close by, were held here during that time. After India’s independence, this has been the home of Sardar Deorao Krishnarao Jadhav, his son Sardar Dhananjayrao Deorao Jadhav and his wife the Ranisaheba, since 1954 when they left their ancestral Lakshmi Vilas Rajwada. ... more   less

You need to inform in advance and also you don't have the privilege of 24 hrs restaurant / cafe - one of the few drawbacks of dis property although not a big one.

This hotel has different types of rooms - we had a family room with 3 beds where we slept with 2 adults and 2 kids - so if ask for a room with 2 separate beds, I suppose 1 room would be enough.

Dear Adrian,

I'm not sure I can help you they way you'd like since I have no idea how far the hospital is from the hotel. Even if the map shows the two places are just opposite, you'd better enquiry with the hotel manager to make sure you can walk there every day.

What I can tell you is that this is a wonderful hotel to stay especially if you spend the whole day in a busy hospital. Take into consideration that January is high season for India and the cost of each room will be even higher than usual. Peraps you can bargain with the manager.

As for the travel from New Delhi to Gwalior, do you want to travel by train or will you hire a taxi? In case you come by train ( possibly a tiring trip), remember to say to the rickshaw's driver that the place is next to JANAKTAL, a temple they all know.

Bye bye

Claudio
