We are 2 couples that just spent a week at Villa Cafaggiolo. When looking for a place to stay we wanted something that was charmingly rustic and authentic to the region. We found all of that here.
The heatwave running through Europe this summer did make it challenging to spend a lot of time outdoors sightseeing but we were always delighted when we came home to cool off in the pool at the villa and we were grateful to have air conditioning in our apartment!!
The bedrooms were comfortable and we loved enjoying our morning coffee and biscotti on our covered loggia (patio). The mosquitos were a bit aggressive especially in the evening so we ate indoors if we were at home for dinner.
The location was very central for visiting the region. We were within an hour of Florence, San Gimignano, Siena and just a bit further to get to Lucca and Pisa.
Niccolo provided a very detailed information book and also made a couple of good recommendations for restaurants which we enjoyed. In the book is listed all of the services they can provide including stocking our fridge. We didn't take advantage of that but it's good to know.
The only thing I would have liked to see were more amenities. There was only one hair dryer between the 2 bathrooms. Guests must provide their own laundry detergents, hand soap, paper towel or tea towels, cleaning cloth for the kitchen. There was a bit of coffee, sugar, salt and a couple of other spices but not oil or vinegar. Again, they are happy to provide everything - i's just an additional cost.
Overall though, I definitely recommend the Villa Cafaggiolo.

I found this listing on Airbnb & decided to book directly with Niccolo. This is such a great find! Highly recommended!
We stayed in Villa Michalangelo. The location is about 2.5 kms from Pontassieve Station which is 2 stops away from Florence. If you have a car, it is around 20 minute drive from the city. We did not have a car, yet we faced no issues in commuting because Pucci family is always available to transfer you! They charge a very nominal fee of 10 Euros per transfer to or from the Pontassieve station. The property is located on a hill with view of the mountains. You can climb up the hill to get an amazing sunset view. They have 2 ponies & a horse on the ground as well!
The villa itself is quite big, it has 2 bedrooms & a bathroom on first floor while a kitchen, living room & another bathroom on the ground. You get a big lawn to yourself & a common swimming pool is available for use.
None of these amenities compare to the genorous hospitality of the Pucci family. In our stay of 3 days, it felt like we are staying at our home!
Few things to note - it is advisable to pre-book the tours or cooking classes before you get here, because they are quite busy. We took the Chianti & Florentine hills tour with Niccolo & it was fab! We wished to do a cooking class with his wife Barbara but they were not available - hopefully we'll do it the next time we are here! :)
Overall, if you want a real taste of Tuscan living, stay here with these guys!

We stayed three nights at Villa Cafaggiolo, as we were attending a wedding up the road at Castelli di Volognano. Everything was perfect. The villa is large and luxurious. The location is stunning. And our host, Paola, went above and beyond to help us. Paola drove us to the supermarket in Pontassive twice to get supplies, plus gave us a tour of the grounds and provided recommendations for restaurants and attractions. I only wish our stay had been longer because we enjoyed it so much. My advice would be to have access to a car while you are there, as there are no taxis nearby, and it would give more flexibility to check out the area.

What a wonderful Time!! I cant say enough about the hospitality we received at Villa Cafaggiolo. The residence itself ( we stayed in the Brunelleschi house-apartment )
was charming, comfortable, wonderfully decorated and had everything we needed for the 5 days we stayed. Our host host Niccolo couldn't have been any friendlier. He was always available for questions about the place and the surrounding countryside giving us lots suggestions on where to go and visit. The pool was salt water and we enjoyed it everyday. While there, we also took the pasta making class given by his wife, Barbara and it was so much fun. Highly recommended!! Another highlight was the meal prepared by Barbara for us one evening. Absolutely delicious!! They also have baskets of food, wines, olive oil available(all hand made). He makes the wine from the vineyards surrounding the Villa and they are excellent!!) . As I said at the beginning of this review, what a wonderful time! You really need to experience this magical place!!

Four of us (2 couples) stayed at Villa Cafaggliolo for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying in the Tuscan countryside. Paolo and Niccolo were wonderful hosts and made our stay memorable. We did a tour of the Chianti Ruffino region with Niccolo and were impressed with his passion and knowledge of the region.
We would advise anyone who is thinking of booking accommodation here to hire their own car as it is a little far from local amenities. Paolo was very good at driving us in and out of Pontassieve but we would have liked to explore a little more on our own.
Make sure you try some of their Chianti as it is very goo.
Paolo's welcome spaghetti sauce was also delightful.
We felt very welcome and would love to go back again one day.

Our family (husband, our 10 month twin girls, French Bulldog, and I) spent a week in “Michelangelo’s” apartment and truly considered never leaving. From the very beginning Niccolo was fantastic with communication. He explained everything, from apartment description to how to get there, etc.

The apartment was more than comfortable. Everything was properly cleaned and disinfected, and hand sanitizer provided. Masks were mandatory in common areas. Niccolo and his mom, Paola, let us borrow a baby crib and high chair for the girls.

We requested the “meal at home” for our first night and it was the perfect end to our long road trip and a welcome to the region. Barbara is an amazing cook! The lasagna and chicken cacciatore were unbelievable. For my birthday we ordered the “private meal” and that also was delicious.

The pool area is a great spot to relax. Each family has their own designated area. We enjoyed swimming after 18:00, when the sun was not as strong.

Because we had an enclosed private garden, we could BBQ something and eat outdoors with our dog accompanying us while keeping an eye to the girls crawling around.

Paola gave us great tips, from where to go for groceries to information about local markets and off the beaten path places.

We recommend to bring bug repellent as there were many mosquitoes and horseflies. We bought some at the Coop and also lit cobra at night and that helped tremendously.

Despite COVID19 we felt safe, not only at the village, but also in the region, as everyone wore masks and followed protocols.

We hope we can return again the future. Grazie!

What a magical stay! Everything was absolutely perfect! The grounds look like a post card (complete with mini ponies!!!!) the house is made from stone from the 18th century and is just so inviting and cozy. Niccolo and his family were so hospitable and made our stay absolutely perfect! We did a wine tour as Niccolo as our guide. This turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Everything from having pasta, a bottle of wine, and homemade pasta sauce ready for us when we first arrived to the most comfortable beds in the entire world! I promise, you will not regret booking this place! We hope to be back in the near future! Ciao from Virginia ❤️

I stayed at Villa Cafaggiolo for a week with a few of my friends and it was a dream of an experience. The lodging is a beautiful villa, right outside of Florence, tucked into the rolling hills of Tuscany. The apartments, pool, and grounds were so unique, beautifully kept, and authentic. All of that would have been enough, but the Pucci family’s hospitality was icing on the cake and is what will make me a returning guest. They were all so flexible and responsive when arranging transfers, groceries, and activities, such as cooking classes, private dinners and tours of Chianti. I am still dreaming of the lasagnas we made with Barbara… In sum, I highly recommend this Villa to anyone who is looking to enjoy the Tuscan countryside with easy access to Florence.

Our time at Villa Cafaggiolo and the Pucci family are forever etched in our hearts. Set in the countryside it was the Italian-Tuscany countryside experience we could have only hoped for. The family embraced us before we even arrived answering all our questions and making time for us as busy as they are!! We did not have a car but Paola was always working with us to arrange transportation which was almost daily to the Coop Market and Train Station and the train was easy to navigate.
Our Tuscan dinner and pasta making class with Barbara were the highlights! Niccolo’s wine (oh the wine!) won us over and now will be ordered with our olive oil shipments. There aren't enough words ....
Three magical weeks we left with a heavy heart saying goodbye but leaving our new friends as “family”. Until next time!!
Love, Squadra Italia 🇮🇹❤️🇮🇹

I found Villa Cafaggiolo on a google search and booked it based solely on the positive reviews. I have dreamed of going to Italy forever, and I wanted this to be a perfect experience. My dreams were fulfilled in every way! The villa itself is lovely and comes with a beautiful family history. We stayed in the Michelangelo apartment with another couple. There was plenty of space with two bedrooms and two bathrooms for everyone to have privacy. The incredibly warm and gracious hosts, Niccolo and Barbara Pucci, were the icing on the cake. Niccolo stayed in touch with me in the months previous to our arrival and was always quick to answer any questions by email. The amenities they offer are over the top. Barbara is an incredible chef and she provided a beautiful, traditional four course Italian dinner the night of our arrival. We also took a cooking class with her, which fulfilled another dream of a lifetime for me. We made three different types of pasta with three different types of sauces and each was increasingly delicious! And we topped it off with a traditional Italian dessert. I'm a people person, and what made it so meaningful for me was the time Niccolo and Barbara were willing to spend with us making us feel like old friends. I even got to spend a little time with Niccolo's mother who shared the history of the villa and told me about her plethora of cross stitch masterpieces which adorn the walls of the villa, a craft we have in common. My only hope after leaving Villa Cafaggiolo is that I will get to return someday. If you're going to Italy you won't want to stay anywhere else.
