Detailed Reviews
Me and my friend booked horsebackriding trip from Franco on our last day of our holiday. We had excelent guides and we had extremly nice trip trought the vinyards. Terrain was variable and every now and then we galloped on the way. Horses were nice and easy to handle. I highly recommend this place to people who love to ride in beautifull nature and who have earlier expierience of horsebackriding. Worth of every cent.

My daughter and I just recently returned home from a wonderful week at Vallebona. The hosts, Riamonda and Franco are exceptional. They hire wonderful skilled staff to ensure that you won't forget your stay in their lovely, rustic, authentic old stone house. You are made to feel like family and quickly made comfortable. The food is simply made, fresh ingredients, just delicious. The horses are gorgeous and very well trained. The lessons are thorough and attention is made individually if needed. The rides are just heavenly. I can't wait to return.

With my husband and our two teenagers, we spent a wonderful 5 days riding through the vineyards, olive groves and forests in the hills near Florence at the rustic, family-run Vallebona. The scenery was breath-taking and the horses were very well cared-for, well-trained and there are safe horses for all types of riders. We went on two 2-hour rides each day, always on different trails, and we were led by friendly and knowledgeable riding guides who tailored the ride to how fast or slow the group wanted, (some rides were just the 4 of us and others had 6-7 riders) - and a couple of rides were dedicated to fast-paced team games in the arena, which resulted in much hilarity and fierce/friendly competition.
Lunch and dinner were always highly anticipated, because the food was delicious, using local ingredients, (often from Vallebona's own garden) and each meal was a new adventure in home-style food prepared with care by the friendly cook. Accommodation is basic -- after all, this is a farmhouse built over time, starting 1,000 years ago when it was a signaling station overlooking an ancient Roman road. The beds/linens are just ok, but the rooms & bathrooms are very clean. A key improvement needed is better wifi connectivity. Overall, we had an amazing experience and enjoyed it immensely, and would highly recommend a riding & eating holiday at Vallebona Agriturismo.

Vallebona is an incredible place. From the very beginning it is a home away from home. With wonderful horses and excellent knowledgeable staff, it really is a such a special place. The scenery and the rides are stunning, and the food is out of this world. I could not recommend this place more, I hope to be returning for many years to come. Anyone who goes to Vallebona will go home a happier person and have the trip of a life time.

I was here early September 2012, while staying at the nearby Fattoria Lavacchio, and went riding for 2 hrs. First we had a one hour class, and then we went into the hills, through vinyards and past olive trees. It was absolutely beautiful. I had not been on a horse for 30 years, but instructor Debbi had the confidence that I could do it, and I did! Great experience!

Our trip was a truly unforgettable experience and we felt right at home - as if we had gained a new family!
The accommodation and the rooms are rather "rustic" and simple, the bathrooms are very modern and beautiful! Nevertheless, you have everything you need and the fly screens are really great! The only small downside was that sometimes (in cooler / rainy weather) the rooms got a little cold and clammy.
But the warmth, openness and kindness of the host family and all the staff made up for it! We felt at home and eating together was always the highlight (with Franco playing the guitar and Raimonda's helpfulness)! The food was first class - I don't think we've ever eaten Italian food so well and every day there were delicious pasta and main courses! Everyone put on weight, it was so great! We could never get enough of it and are very grateful for it! Our plan was actually to kidnap the two chefs because they cooked so brilliantly ;)
They also have the best and most reliable horses in the world! At the beginning of the week we were rather nervous about the steep mountain slopes and the sometimes muddy and stony paths - by the end of the week we were no longer afraid because we had absolute life insurance between us! I would have loved to take my Aramis and especially Tom with me! We have never ridden horses like that before because they were sure-footed, calm and good teachers at the same time! At home, rides were often more of a risk, here you could rely on them 100% and we already missed riding like crazy!!!
The group was also great - we made new friends and we already miss the farm, the peace and quiet, the beautiful landscape, the horses, all the people we have grown fond of and the whole feeling!
Our riding instructors Esther and Alijce (sorry if we spelled it wrong) were a dream! We had incredibly great conversations and you were able to teach us a lot, take away our fears, show us the wonderful surroundings and put a huge smile on our faces when we trot or galloped in the countryside! Viola also helped us all the time and infected us with her joy and sunny nature every day! We can't thank you enough!!! :)
On the last day of riding there was another full-day ride with a stop at a fantastic restaurant. This was a real experience and we would do it again and again because the restaurant is in a wonderful location, you ride through beautiful countryside and the food is simply delicious (especially because we could sit on the terrace and enjoy it). The horses were a dream as always and could be tied up in an adjacent forest. They were also well looked after with water and food and then we went home again. The two additional hours and the meal itself have to be paid for separately in this case (this is a quick tip).
We are so grateful for our time and "adventure" in Vallebona - for all the efforts of Raimonda, Franco, Esther, Alijce, Viola, Pietro, the best chefs in the world, the super friendly staff and above all the horses, who gave us, the returning riders, our confidence back! If we had been there in the summer, we would probably have been able to use the lovely pool (unfortunately it was still too cold for that at the beginning of May), but maybe next time ;)
1000 thanks also to the incredibly great support from Horse & Rider! We were able to rely on this great team in all matters and are infinitely satisfied and happy!
P.S. Unfortunately my head was also on vacation last week and I forgot my riding helmet and gloves - hopefully there is a way to get them back here (by post, for a fee of course).
All in all, we can say: we'd love to come back and miss you!!!! :)
