We spent a week in the attached agriturismo and ate here every evening. Chef Orlando and Chef Ana made every evening very special with their incredibly good food and their warmth. We tried the entire menu and can absolutely recommend every single dish. We will be back! Ci vediamo l‘anno prossimo :)

We spent five nights with our two young daughters at the Grappolo apartment and had a wonderful time. The estate was very beautiful. The apartment was clean and well heated. The food at the restaurant is very good. The manager Mario is very friendly and helpful. He brought us for a tour of the farm and vineyard and for wine tasting. He helped us book a tour guide in Florence and arranged for our laundry to be done and perfectly ironed. He gave us very good advice on what to do around the area and in the region. We had a wonderful cooking lesson at the restaurant there and restaurant owner even brought us for truffle hunting. Our girls loved this place so much that they did not want to go home!

We arrived as a couple and had rented an apartment (Acino) in the old fattoria. It was furnished with very beautiful futures. The place was quiet and peaceful. Excellent restaurant both the one at the spot and the one 7 km further up the mountain. All staf was very serviceminded and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We spent a weekend in May at the B&B and it was wonderful. The buildings and surrounding country side were absolutely breath-taking. It was my husbands birthday, and the staff were wonderful and helped me organize a surprise for him. Everyone was warm and lovely and helpful. The restaurant on site is delicious- no need to go anywhere else. And there is a wonderful little French Bulldog called Hugo!

The property is gorgeous. it is quiet and relaxing. The room we had was large with a private bathroom. Very comfortable bed. The furnishings are beautiful, the common area and pool are lovely. The wine tasting with Mario is fantastic. He is very knowledgable and personable. We learned about olive out, too. The restaurant on site served delicious food. Breakfast was sufficient.
The personal touch was very special. We arrived by train and were picked up by Alessandra. Just a few minutes drive. She gave us a nice history of the property. An unexpected train strike created a problem on our departure day, but due to the kindness and generosity of Mario and his family we were able to travel with them in to Florence.

A wonderful place, surrounded by vines, fields of olive trees and picturesque Tuscan lush green hills! We were travelling in a couple and were staying in B&B, but were talking about how nice it would be to come back with a group of friends and rent a house.
It's easy reachable from Florence by a local train or by car. We were travelling without a car, and Mario thoughtfully took care of us and picked us up at the train station to bring to the property. (Travelling in Italy in general is better by car - it gives more flexibility to go and visit nearby towns, but we were ready to spend 2 days at the pool enjoying sun and having wine for lunch).
We had a feeling of staying in a very caring family: because the place itself is very cosy and because Mario and people working with him are very friendly and helpful. The wine tasting was an exeptional experience for me: Mario told us a lot about the vines, the art of making wine and was very patient with all my questions.
One of the mornings Mario suggested us to go for a walk up the hill to blend in with the local landscape and have lunch in a little house on the top of the hill: tasty home made food prepared by a lovely Italian lady - such a character!
Food in the Colognole restaurant was just delicious, combined with wines from Colognole as well as from other Italian regions. Local people apparently also value and love the restaurant - we met there some nice couples and group of people from the area.
I travelled a lot around Italy, but this experience in the Tuscan hills turned out to be one of the best Italian memories.

We were one week in a large home on colognole and really everything was excellent: the house, the swimming pool, the environment and especially the hospatility of the staff (Mario and others). If you look for heaven, this is close to that.

After a short but busy tour around several Italian cities our last night was spent here in the Tuscan countryside. It was idyllic. The views on the drive up to the B&B, and around the building itself are just beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable with stunning views across the country. The bathroom might have been newly refurbished, or was just exceptionally clean if not, with a nice and powerful shower. The whole place was nicer than some of the 4 star hotels we'd stayed in.
There is a small restaurant on-site to buy dinner - which I'd recommend instead of driving all the way back down the hill to a less spectacular location. This also serves the breakfast, which is basic but adequate. We didn't get a chance to use the pool which was a shame as it looks so appealing.
Be warned, the reception shuts at 7pm so don't turn up later than that to check in without their agreement.

Why stay in the hot, over-tourist-populated city of Florence when you can enjoy a heritage hill side estate complete with restaurant and pool, train commuting to the sites of the town and enjoying the cool evening air and wonderful hospitality of Il Colognolo staff when you return?
