Our family of 5 (children aged 12, 11 & 5 years old) had a magical 7 night stay at the beautiful Villa Lombrichino, set amidst spectacular Tuscan countryside. We were met by the lovely owner of the establishment Lorella and her husband Franco, who welcomed us warmly and showed us around. Lorella was prepared with maps and some great suggestions for where to buy fresh local produce, places to visit, restaurants, and activities in and around the area (wine tasting, horse riding, music festivals to name a few). She was very knowledgeable in answering any questions and even helped with bookings and printing out tickets for us. The Villa itself has been meticulously restored and furnished with authentic beautiful furniture. Each of the three bedrooms has it's own bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped and had an espresso machine and a washing machine. A laptop with internet connection was provided. The outside eating/ BBQ area was convenient, especially with 3 kids! The highlight of the property is the lovely pool, with it's breathtaking views of the Tuscan landscape as its backdrop. It's such a picturesque and relaxing place to be, yet only a 20 minute drive (or 15 minute train ride) to Florence. It's the perfect base for exploring Tuscany; 90 mins to Pisa, 75 mins to San Gimignano, 60 mins to Lucca where you can hire bikes and ride around the old walled city...... I would definitely recommend a car although we did find it difficult to actually tear ourselves away from the pool! There's a table set up with chairs where we enjoyed having lunch, and comfortable sun lounges with umbrellas. One morning it even served as a setting for my daughter and I to enjoy a private art lesson with a local artist Rosie Lawrence who came and taught us about sketching landsapes and mixing oil paints, and got us started on our very own masterpieces. It was such an enjoyable 3 hours- definitely one of the (many) highlights of our week! I can' say enough good things about this place and it's friendly, hospitable owners. We were all very sad to say goodbye and hope to one day return....!

Lorrella the owner is really lovely, she made us feel very welcome and helped plan our days out - unfortunately we didn't have a car so we were somewhat limited!
The pool is amazing, great size and fantastic views, we were in total luxury, sun lounges extremely comfortable.
The apartment is traditional and beautiful. All windows insect proof. Kitchen fully equipped with a good espresso machine. Bedrooms upstairs.
There is a good patio garden - we got bitten quite badly so we could have been more prepared but it was nice to play dominos and have lunch out there – and our very own private bar in the evenings!
We used the bikes on the first day and it was great cycling in the countryside, ended up at Rosano for provisions and lunch, well recommended, but, unfortunately, one of the four bikes wasn’t wired properly and the break was constantly on – double the sweat!
Beautiful hillside walks in the day to both Molino (30 mins) and Sieci (40 mins) – following the red and white stripes on the walls and trees. Both walks on the Lombrichino side of the river. Steep hill on the return.
We found Molino del Piano a sweeter place the Sieci, although in Sieci, right next to the train station, there is a good ice cream parlour selling crepes and beers, mmm.
From Sieci get a train to Florence (20 mins).
Rosie Lawrence came over and gave us an oil painting lesson which I would totally recommend. Unfortunately my picture wasn’t dry for the journey home and got spoiled; wish I had left it for posting when dried!
www.rosielawrence.com
Everything closed in Sieci on a Tuesday (apart from the ice cream shop!), and closed in Molino on a Monday.
If we go back it would be with a car – we did use a taxi a couple of times but be prepared to barter the cost – he has a monopoly in the area!
It was so hot that we just wanted to chill by the pool but we did go to Florence and can not wait to return – Florence has the potential for days of visiting, little cobbled streets, food, leather and mask markets, and art and museums everywhere – you will not be disappointed with the visit and perhaps like us will want to return to see things you missed.
Say hello to Lorella from the English guys without a car, she really is very lovely with a beautiful, well cared for and relaxing place to stay.

We've just returned from 2 weeks at the Villa Lombrichino with family and friends. What can we say? It really is the ideal place to get away from it all. The photos don't do it justice. Everything is idyllic. The villa is a great size, comfortable and well equipped. The outdoor dining area is perfect for barbecues or dining out, or simply enjoying a drink in the warm evenings. The pool is a great size with superb views over the valley. Although set in the hills the villa is perfectly situated to visit the surrounding areas. The train from Sieci to Florence is definitely the way to travel!! Lorella is a perfect hostess, without being intrusive. She has a wealth of information on places to go, restaurants etc. The pizzas at Torro del Sasso are highly recommended! It's the perfect place to get away from it all and we are looking forward to returning soon.

House very cramped and damp

Not many restaurants in the area

We spent a week with our baby and some friends, the location is pretty good, the villa is ok but we were very disappointed by the fact that the garden, where we were supposed to have meals (indeed during summer we spend more time outside than inside the villa witch is very small...), was not close to the house, but it was nothing comparing to the length between the villa and the pool (so if you have a baby you must stay nearby when he's sleeping, do not imagine you'll do it enjoying the garden or the pool at the same time..!!!!).
The pool is not only reserved for the guests of the villa, and don't even hope to have the dinner at the pool side for sunset, it's close after 7:00pm.....
To sum up we really did not expect this after having visited the website, be careful

Spent a weeks holiday in this accomodation with 4 adults and 2 teenagers.Plenty of room for all in the villa. Fantastic swimming pool and facilities. Enjoyed the outdoor dining area where we spent a couple of pleasant evenings during our stay. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful.
Recommend a vehicle for holidays at this location as it is off the beaten track and the local restaurants are a few miles away.

The villa is located among a few private houses in a gorgeous hamlet, with great walks (or runs) nearby. Lombrichino is well equipped and although the house is a little narrow, has plenty of space for six. Lorella is a wonderful host, who could not be more helpful. The pool is great, with fabulous views over the valley and the outdoor dining area was used nearly every night, great for large dinners. The house, pool and dining areas are a little separated, but this proved to be no major issue, but is a consideration. The local area is beautiful, with a few very good restaurants run by warm and welcoming management and staff. Also, make time for a visit (or two) to the Castello del Trebbio for great wine and amazing olive oil, as well as a really entertaining and interesting wine and olive tour. The restaurant is very good at the castle too - lovely to have dinner while sipping wine made from the vineyards just below the patio! The villa is also very close to Florence, 20/25 minutes by car or train and is generally good for driving across Tuscany.

Agree with others very well equipped but the sitting room is small and not very comfortable.
Outdoor seating area is too far from the house so we didn't bother using it... A bit like sitting in a car park! Pool is beautiful and clean but annoyed we were told we couldn't use it after 7pm because in August it was hot during the day to sit there.
Owners are very friendly and helpful. Encouraged us to use the train to go to florence but do check timetables they are not that frequent.

My partner and I, my two 26-year old sons, and their partners spent a terrific five days at Villa Lombrichino. Lorella was a most welcoming and gracious hostess. The villa is even more beautiful than the photos indicate! The kids ran up and down the hills for their exercise (encountering deer on the way!) and spent hours at the lovely pool. We drove around quite a bit, exploring small villages and vineyards. Thanks to Lorella's recommendation, we had a fabulous meal at Castello Del Trebbiano one evening. We found local food in the Coop in Sieci and took full advantage of the grill in the picnic area three of our five evenings. The villa was spotlessly clean; beds comfortable, kitchen perfect for everything the three foodies in my family concocted; en suite bathrooms were luxurious with sufficient hot water for 6 adults. It was not at all damp or cramped, contrary to a prior reviewer. We did not want to leave... and hope we can go back.

We went for a holiday with friends at Villa Lombrichino. The villa was fantastic, rooms were great with ensuite bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. Lorella, the owner, was more than helpful in trying to organise trips during our stay, but due to still recovering from a wedding in Siena, we did spend a lot of time by the beautifully clean pool. Would recommend this villa to all, it was perfect.
