On the hills surrounding Florence near the ancient fountain of the poet, you may spend your holidays on a real fairy tale farm among geese, hens, cows, donkeys and horses. Here men and animals live and work together to fulfil the dream of an organic and as far as possible, self-sufficient island.Guests can take part in the activities of the farm or just relax completely and enjoy the peace of these places. On a farm holiday at il Poeta you can have horse-riding lessons or go horse riding or donkey trekking. For gourmet food lovers, we prepare typical meals attending to every detail and using healthy and delicious products from the farm. Il Poeta farm holiday is the ideal place for anyone who loves animals, good food, nature and the environment. We have two apartments and one room for our guests, perfectly furnished in the Tuscan style and equipped with every comfort. Both of the apartments have a large bedroom, a kitchen and living room, bathroom and a private space outside. All the areas are close to one another and can be connected to host families or larger groups. In our very small restaurant you can taste dishes with forgotten flavours made using mainly our products and the products of regional businesses. In winter the meals are served in the chimney room, a warm and welcoming room with a beautiful fire that is always lit. In summer, we eat in the garden and enjoy the freshness of the evenings. All our guests sit around the same table because a farm holiday also implies conviviality and a delight in getting to know people who often share the same love for nature and the environment

My wife daughter and I stayed for two nights with Antonella and her family. Unlike other such resorts we stayed at we felt like an actual part of the family rather than guests or someone just passing through.
My daughter instantly took to the many animals on the farm proper and rode violleta the pony for morning mountain trips.
When the sun goes down and it started raining a roaring open fire greeted us in the common dining room and the smells of Tuscan cooking fills the house. On our first evening we participated in cooking course hosted by Antonella which culminated in a lavish dinner of our making including ravioli, meat, local wine and home brew liquor. Antonella and her family were very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay, doing that little bit extra without second thoughts that makes any stay a great experience.
I will gladly stay at il poeta again and heartily recommend it as a wintery get away and it's probably even better in the summer. For our price we got room and (an excellent) half board.

We stayed in Fattora il Poeta in November 2012. It's really nice agriturismo, that is situated close to Florence, Siena and Arezzo. It can be a bit difficult to find it, but it worth it. There is everything you need for the good rest in countryside: hospitable hosts, friendly animals, breath-taking views, delicious food. We had horseriding lessons there and Antonella (the host) was patient teacher so we had a lot of fun. We enjoyed our stay in Fattoria il Poeta and can recommend it to everybody.

This place was a great way to spend our honeymoon. It's rustic but perfectly comfortable. The owners, Antonella and Ricardo, were warm and friendly, although their English is a bit limited. They have a beautiful property up in the hills above Florence, very close to the Chianti Rufina wine producing region. Fattoria Il Poeta is a self sustaining agriturismo paradise. They have chickens, geese, turkeys, horses, ponies, a donkey, 3 dogs, and about 20 cats. They offer to cook breakfast and dinner upon request, or you can cook for yourself in your fully furnished apartment. We ate with them one night, and Ricardo caught a wild boar with his bare hands and made us fresh pork chops! He's actually a wonderful cook, and they serve home-made wine, grappa, and nochello (a sweet nut based apertiff). Also, the home-made olive oil was amazing! We would definitely consider staying here again, although the drive up the hill is a bit scary at first.

"We stayed at the apartment in the main building with the original gate. This room has its own exit and a door that goes into the common room. There is a separate fully kitted kitchen though you will have to bring your own groceries if you wish to cook. Also a spacious bathroom with shower which can also accommodate the disabled or elderly. We were very happy with this room."
