Being in the pure jungle it is a really well maintained resort. Very nice chalets, but some of them pretty far from the restaurant and reception. Some monkeys around but really quiet and not harmful. We didn't eat at the resort restaurant except for the breakfast (good one) but they serve delicious cocktails. Wi-fi is only available in the close vicinity...

soooo much better than what i had expected - this was our first trip to Taman Negara, which turned out to be the higlight of our trip in Malaysia. Beautiful chalets surrounded by fruit bearing trees and lavish greens. you have to cross the river by boat to get to the hotel vicinity and climb up a 2-3 flights of...

Overall this was a great hotel, right in the rainforest. Considering where it is, they do amazingly well. We stayed in a "bungalow" which was actually a 2 bedroom two storey wooden house with plenty of space. The bathrooms and showers were very modern and clean and the beds were fine. We caught the boat across as described which added...

We are a family of four and this was our first trip to Taman Negara. We chose Mutiara because we had good experience with Mutiara Resort, Penang, before it was shut down several years back. Our drive from KL was rather unpleasant. The road condition after Jerantut was terrible. Although road repairs were underway, one just couldn’t understand why the...

Nice hotel, enjoyed it a lot. Great walks around and we really enjoyed ourselves. Only downfall is the food and the massage. Food isn't good and wayyyyy overpriced. You can literally get the same food but better across the river for about 1/8 of the price. The massage isn't a massage. It's pretty poor if in honest.

We stayed here whilst on a tour of Malaysia. We had a fantastic guide, Mohammed. The hotel is made up of chalets which are well equipped, except our dribble shower, but you cannot complain when you are in the rainforest. The highlight was when a wild tapir male came into the restaurant one evening. What a beautiful sight. We enjoyed...

The hotel is the only really nice one in Kuala Tahan. Perct location to explore the jungle and do excursions. Chalets are all really nice and romantic (not perfectly clean, though). But we are in the jungle so.. Monkeys are often there and lots of insects around. The atmosphere is amazing. We did the excurions with Han Travel (floating restaurant...

We stopped at the restaurant for a late lunch following a very enjoyable hike around the boardwalks and ropeways in the national park. The main lunch service had finished but they have an all day dining menu which combines local and foreign dishes (and some which are a combination of the 2). Food was nice but I got the distinct...

This resort is an excellent place for both corporate and tourist who would like to check out mother nature. I came here for team building activity and I must say that the activities were well organized. Not to mention the nature guides are extremely knowledgeable and they have eagle eyes. Night jungle walk, rapid shooting & canopy walk are highly...

A very interesting place with historic interest but wildlife jungle experience was non existent. The rainforest canopy walk is definitely the highlight. The boat trip to the "crystal clear waterfall pool" turned out to be a murky water cascade over a few rocks this was a disappointment The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and overall service levels were very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mutiara Taman Negara Resort, PahangDiscover the wonders of an ancient forest at Mutiara Taman Negara. Pitch tent or check-into this forest reserve and bask in the natural surroundings of the Taman Negara park. Mutiara Taman Negara, an eco-tourism Resort that offers a variety of accommodation types promises guests this unique experience with basic amenities and sufficient modern comforts. A virgin jungle expanse covering 4,343 square kilometres, Taman Negara was established in 1939 and is the largest park in peninsular Malaysia reputed to be The Best Kept Tropical Rainforest, thanks to its protected status. With minimal damage to this special ecosystem, Mutiara Taman Negara is dimly lit to avoid scaring off wildlife and conserves energy. Everything used is biodegradable and all the wooden chalet interiors are made of natural produce. Guests at Mutiara Taman Negara will wake to the drone of cicadas, the chirping of bird species new to them and a myriad of other unfamiliar sounds that form a consistent cacophony unique to rainforests. You will begin their adventure at your door step or veranda which makes a perfect perch especially for nocturnal sightings. Sighting wildlife outside the chalet is a norm and the fruit season attracts the most number of wildlife, from the mischievous long tailed macaques, the beautiful chestnut-breasted malkoha and the thorny porcupine to the gentle slow loris. The ancient life forms that blanket Taman Negara are impressive and during each visit, Mutiara Taman Negara gives its visitors the opportunity to glimpse at the flora and fauna species estimated at 10,000 plants, 150,000 insects, 25,000 invertebrates, 675 birds, 270 reptiles, 250 freshwater fish and 200 mammals. Some of the flora and fauna found in Taman Negara are rare or indigenous to this country. If you are not travelling with a group, you can plan your trip to Mutiara Taman Negara well before you arrive or enlist the help of guides at the Park Centre. Things to do at Mutiara Taman Negara include river cruises, guided walks, bird watching, fishing, swimming by waterfalls and night safaris. The world’s longest suspended canopy walk is the most popular activity in this rainforest and you have to be prepared to queue for a while. Secured 40 metres above the forest floor, visitors have a good vantage point from here and if lucky, you can sight some curious animals. The only people who are allowed to hunt and forage are its original inhabitants, the Orang Asli people who still live a nomadic lifestyle. They farm, fish and hunt in the park and nowadays play host to curious visitors armed with flashy cameras. The women may shy away but the men folk can put on a show with some advance notice. Travelling to Mutiara Taman Negara, guests can either do the four hour scenic drive down or board a coach from a designated location in Kuala Lumpur for a 3 hour drive down followed by a 3 hour boat trip down river ... more   less
