Great stay just 10 minutes from central Hobart and 5 minutes from Eastland Shopping Centre. We stayed in the Ethel Pearce Room which was a upgrade room at a minor cost penalty. The room & bathroom was large and comfortable. Good reliable, fast WiFi. Room had a entrance from main corridor as well as a direct entry into the room from the car park via a small veranda with a table and chair overlooking the extensive garden and distant views to Mt Wellington. Very good self serve breakfast in a formal dining setting. Check-in was extremely well organized with a front door code provided by SMS prior to arrival. Keys and an extensive information package was then found on a sideboard inside the door. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Excellent guest lounge with a good selection of books and DVDs.

Well, it is an interesting old family house. The service was really great and quick. We had some last minutes requirements ( additional bed and early breakfast) which was accepted and done very quickly. A big thank for that.
The room and toilet are clean and big enough. The beds are really for 2 people so extra beds is needed if you have a child. The global decoration is old English fashion ( according to me). You might or might not like it but for me it was nice. The common living room is a nice place to stay to read , watch TV and DVD with an old piano. Make me thing of a scene from Agatha Christie.
About the breakfast it is a simple correct one with enough choice for all taste. There is a kitchen available for guest where you can make your own cook ( oven and fridge, as wells as a washing g machine and drier ( those two are not fro free)). Tea/coffee/ hot chocolate are available in the breakfast room from morning to 10:00pm.
Something have never seen before , there are some liquor available in each room with the small glasses. Really an old English tradition to finish the diner with a brandy.
So a global nice stay at that hotel.

We stayed two nights in the John Pearce family suite - two bedrooms, queen and triple. Bathroom is reached via the triple. Really appreciated the supportive mattresses - so many hotel mattresses are too soft and soggy and hurt my back! Lovely historic decor and antique furniture. Bathroom was neat and effective. Would love the addition of a grab rail in the shower and beside loo for when travelling with older relatives. Hosts were kind, respectful and helpful. Enjoyed the simple continental breakfast, and used the dining room a couple of times to make sandwiches using our own food. View of Mt Wellington and river from bedrooms. Lovely old sitting room where the fire was lit on the second night and we sat and chatted with some other guests. The side garden had lots of weeds - would be nice to see that renewed. We chose this one rather than CBD locations because of free parking onsite. It was a good choice and we'd stay again.

A wonderful and relaxing place to stay. So close to Hobart and Pauline makes you feel very welcome. There is so much attention to detail here and I appreciated the cup of tea and homemade biscuits that were served on arrival…

We stayed here for 1 night after our tour of Tasmania. I wished we had booked here for longer!!
We were greeted by the lovely owner Pauline. She gave us a tour of the house and a welcome pack with the history of the house and things to do around the area. Pauline also gave us some ideas of things to do and where to eat locally.
The house itself is a beautiful heritage house and has been decorated in keeping with that in mind. It was like stepping back in time, it was so nice to see that it has been kept authentic.

Breakfast is included with options of cereal, yoghurt, toast and a selection of yummy treats cooked by Pauline. There is an option to upgrade and pay for a cooked breakfast, pancakes or eggs. This was cooked by Nina who cooks a great breakfast.

The room we stayed in was comfortable and very clean with a lovely comfy bed. There was a tv/dvd player, tea/ coffee making facilities and toiletries. Our room had a view of the beautiful gardens and Mt William. It was nice to sit outside and have a cup of tea and enjoy the view.

We would highly recommend staying here. Pauline and Nina make you feel so welcome. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. Neil and Laura

As a special surprise I booked the Arthur Pearce suite for my husbands 70th. This suite being the top of the choices and price for the Orana House accommodation with separate access and spa.
On arrival the suite was clean and a very lovely room.
Unfortunately first issue the key got jammed in our access door to the verandah.
Secondly, we could hear the next door TV quite clearly when we arrived back at our suite after our night out. Thirdly the next morning we decided to have a spa. Alas, firstly the tap didnt work properly so had to fill with shower hose, then on switching the switch the spa did not work.
On checking out we informed the reception staff member. I asked for a reduction in our price and the reaction was to laugh and make no apology. so beware if you want the spa suite!!!

This is a place I would consider if I were to return to Hobart. Although it is not central (just under 10km from the city) it is full of character, provides breakfast and most of all is clean!
It was great to have the availability of the little kitchen to store and prepare simple food.
Also good to have on-site parking space.

Pauline and Nina were excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Pauline even put my washing in the dryer and delivered my clothes to my bedroom, while we were out sightseeing. Breakfasts were delicious and varied. Pancakes with berries and chocolate sauce were my favourite, Beds were comfortable and rooms were warm and well appointed. The house is beautiful. It is like stepping back in time. The gardens are spacious and it has great views of the Derwent Bridge. We are looking forward to returning and being spoilt again.

I cannot recall for sure. I think from 7a-9a, but why not email or telephone Orana House and ask?

Much would depend on how many you are and your bed preferences. We had a lovely room on the front of the house with a four poster Queen. The room had an interior door but also an exterior door leading very easily to the parking lot which made for easy unloading and loading of the car. The rooms all have names of the children of the original owners but unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of ours. The door also opened onto a small outside sitting/eating space - probably not a consideration at this time of year.
