Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at Leigh Creek CP a couple of nights either side of our Arkaroola trip, and were very happy with our stay. Amenities are older, but still clean and tidy.
You pay at the Service Station, where fuel is cheaper than even Hawker. We also revictualised at he Foodland shop and had a dinner at the "Resort" Tavern.
We also went out to Aroona Dam nearby. What a pretty place.
You should stop in and check it all out. Lovely, friendly, people just wanting to keep their town alive and thriving.

We stayed at the caravan park for one night en route to Innamincka
We paid at the Perry Service Station.
We had a wide choice of sites (powered drive through) or unpowered.
We chose an unpowered site amongst the trees.
The facilities were clean and more than adequate.
We would stay again as it is well located at the beginning/end of the Strezlecki Track.

Thank you so much for your positive review. We have a new site location near the creek now, with ample shade and concrete slabs for caravans, or a campground area. We do hope you come and check it out!

The park is tucked away from the busy highway. It hasn't been modernised, but facilities are clean. In the cooler months there is a live-in caretaker. He welcomes everyone with a smile, and assists when he can. If the wind is not too strong he lights a fire to encourage visitors to mingle. We stayed in our Caravan. There are cabins available.

The Leigh Creek Visitors Centre is well appointed. The volunteer we spoke with was passionate and very informative. Beltana is off the road on a dirt road, but has some interesting historical buildings and features. The Aroona Dam will be a good place for fishing in a year or two. Leigh Creek is a good place to leave your van and go up to Arkaroola for a few days.

My experience was horrible. Very poor customer service skills and hospitality, as well as poor communication skills. The Caravan Park caretaker was very rude and inconsiderate and there was no visible signage near the RV dump point explaining prices for use. I was overcharged as I had already paid the $5 fee to use the dump point and then charged an extra $5 to use water. As I went about my business she stood very close by and watched me intently as if to suggest Inwas going to do something wrong.

As a traditional Adnyamathanha custodian of this area I deserve to be treated with more dignity and respect than shown by this individual, and in future if or when I return to use this service I expect that non-indigenius workers living and working on country display behaviours and services that are culturally appropriate.

So sorry you had poor service. We have a new caravan park with new managers now, so I hope the service improves! Usually the cost of water is $5 and dump point is an extra $5, but rude behaviour was unwarranted and you certainly didn't deserve that treatment!

My husband and I, and another couple, recently spent 6 nights at the Leigh Creek Caravan Park and were very happy with it. The facilities are clean and regularly maintained, the caretaker was very friendly and the native environment was very peaceful. We based ourselves there while we took some day trips both north and south, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to do the same thing. Also a great place for a break if heading to the Strzelecki Track, Birdsville Track or Oodnadata Track.

A nice clean park, the sites are large and easy to get into, there is power and water at each site and the prices are reasonable. We arrived early and phoned the park and Mick met us on the way around from the servo, he was very obliging and suggested we find a site and settle in and call into the office after 2.00pm to settle the account. We didn't get back from our trip until 4.30pm but that didn't seem to worry them. This was a good experience.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the cabins. It was spotlessly clean with a really comfy bed and a flat screen tv with all the channels ( unusual in the outback ).The little kitchen was more than adequate though one night we chose to use the camp kitchen where we chatted with other travellers, this facility was also excellent with a fully equipped kitchen, dining tables and a lounge area with a huge tv and a very effective aircon. The park is only a short walk from town where we were pleasantly surprised to find a Foodland supermarket, pub and lovely cafe with an information centre in it. From there we were directed to all the local attractions, a stand out was the beautiful Aroona dam, we were also able to check with staff about road conditions before we left for Arkaroola. It was really interesting chatting to the staff about the mining operation, the coal train (2.5km long) and the town which is had to be moved in the 80's because they had built it on the coal seam.
Overall the caravan park is excellent and the town of Leigh Creek is a great base for visiting the Flinders and Gammon ranges. Shopping prices are excellent at the supermarket and fuel prices reasonable for the location.

Leigh Creek Caravan Park is only small but is very clean and tidy. Peter (the Manager) is very welcoming and has a good sense of humour. It is only a short walk into town to the Foodland supermarket (very unusual to find one of these out here!), the post office, newsagent or tavern. The last night we were here Peter organised a camp fire and get together for anyone in the park that wanted to join in. It was great to meet the other people and chat about places they have been or are going. The price is only $20 night for a powered site, much cheaper than anywhere else we have been to. Definately a great little park!

A lot cheaper than the caravan park in Copely and just as nice. Scotty the caretaker is a volunteer and can come across very rude but he does grow on you. He does regular boarder patrols in his 4WD so you always feel safe and can spot a dripping tap from 100 metres away lol. Facilities are clean and has a 24hr laundry room. Machines only take $1 coins!!!! Although there was a power outage on the day we visited, Leigh Creek is still very much alive and has a great pub (tavern) with lovely staff. Town has more shops and services than Copely so if you are tossing up between both towns give Leigh Creek a go.
