We were very lucky here. In a quiet side street in the residential area. Our evening stroll along the waterfront, and our pleasant morning walk along the shoreline in to the town centre made an impression on us. This skyline is gorgeous. Merely 20 minutes walking distance from the railway station, the Pensione is a quiet and immaculate residence. Their breakfast is Italian, so you will find excellent coffee and fruit juice, but none of the cheeses, smoked meats and hams that Scandivians adore. Our host here listened to our comments,so we had plenty of fresh rolls, a variety of cheese and salami next morning.Taxis to and from the station with luggage costs only 10 Euro,. The artitechture along the main road varies from classical Mediteranian villas to one orange Art deco house Restaurants : The Bar Norge is merely one hundred metres away, and their salads are fresh, their pizzas delicious and the sea food is excellent.

We thought this was great at first, just down the road from the beach, staff were fairly friendly and one of them spoke English so we were fine there. The room was nice and comfy, and had a balcony. Unfortunately, there was a sewage smell from the bathroom. We had to air the room as much as possible, and going to the loo was a bit unpleasant. Wasn't a huge deal but did make the room worse. Otherwise it would have been a very nice stay. Also, breakfast wasn't good but I generally found that in Italian hotels (as an English traveller) so not penalising them for that.

Great place and good location, rooms are well appointed but no air conditioning which wasn't to much of a problem as the ceiling fan kept you cool. Beach is only a couple hundred metres away and you also have an array of restaurants on the foreshore to choose from. The family run Pensione makes you feel that you are part of it and nothing was a problem. Please note that they don't accept credit cards, cash only, which wasn't a problem as there are ATM machine near by. Great place to stay at reasonable prices.

Words, in any language cannot express my gratitude to this wonderful family who all participate in making your visit a relaxing and magical one. Don't worry you will have solitude, peace and quiet when you want it, go to your room and you are in a sanctuary. But come downstairs and feel like you are one of the family. I had been travelling solo for over a month so it immediately warmed my heart when I was greeted with a big smiles from adorable Auntie and Moma, then the incredible sweet Virginia, greeted me with two kisses, one on each cheek. Well, that was the beginning of a thousand beautiful touches including Virginia and her sons excellent English translation for me, historical information about the area, 'Momas' delectable homemade cakes, a scrumptious homemade dinner and a lunch, a special reading by co-owner and published author Çlirim Muça, a lovely room with a sea view (named after Emily Dickinson) all the rooms are named after writers and there are art books aplenty to peruse if you decide as I did to not venture further afield, to just 'be' in Castiglioncello. Nothing was too much trouble, great coffee, family warmth that deserves more stars than I'm allowed to award it, so many other genuine kindnesses (I cannot list all of them here) that has led me not just to a hotel but to having made great friends. I want to bring my Mum back from Australia to Castiglioncello to cook with Moma! You too will love your stay in this very clean, beachside resort that should be twice the price. The town itself is so picturesque, I was drawn to it to follow in the footsteps of the artists called Macchiaioli. You will enjoy strolling on the promenade and Monday morning markets and glorious days of being dazzled by the beauty of the area. I highly recommend this amazing Italian family run B&B. Million di volte grazie to Virginia, Çlirim and all!

I had an extra day in my itinerary and decided to visit Castiglioncello, for a night. I wanted a place near the beach, but was not looking to spend a lot. Pensione Signorini was perfect! It was within a block of the Mediterranean and I could see and hear the sea from my window as from well as the nearby balcony. The family who owns the Pensione was so sweet and helpful. They cooked a special meal of homemade pasta and fish for me even though I was there in the slow season of October. It was definitely my favorite meal in Italy! Morning breakfast had so many homemade goodies in addition to fresh juice and yogurt, that I was overwhelmed. Virginia speaks excellent English and her mother and aunt are there to help with the cooking. Even the teenage sons work at the pensione and hooked me up to the wifi in nothing flat. The pensione is full of books of artwork, poetry and photographs. Çlirim Muça is the author in residence and I couldn't resist buying one of his books on modern day fables. If your travels take you to this beautiful part of Italy, Pensione Signorini is a great place to stay!
