The place has a perfect location, close to the beach. Staff is friendly and food is nice. Lodges are fine. Camping is small, so with a little bad luck the place is full. First day the place was overcrowded due to a full dorm and the campsite being full. The next day the place was nice a relaxed. When less...

Campsite was right on the beach overlooking the lake with lots of shade. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and try the French toast! We had an awesome stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

I was planning to visit Fat Monkeys for an off weekend while I was working in Northern Mozambique. Well I ended up staying 12 nights. It's an amazingly beautiful spot. Camp spots has loads of shade all day and the views are second to none looking over lake Malawi and Thumbi west Island. The staff was exceptionally friendly! They have...

Very decent lodge which means it's clean, tidy and friendly personal. Food is great and campsite is good! On the other side it may feel somewhat empty and dry let's say. Some plants would be nice, but the bar makes up for it.

I visited here a couple of years ago and again now. Can noticibly see this place going down. Menu choices have been limited drastically. No Chambo on menu? What limited items served on menu is prepared well. Rooms need some attention. Staff is very friendly. Bar on beach but no lake view rooms.

The location was stunning. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had some great evenings - they had other guests doing fire dancing on the beach. It has a very friendly and interactive vibe. Food was average but cheap. Tours had to all be organised through guys on the beach. They were great, but would be better if there...

So after being a total Ocean fanatic I didn't know what to expect from the Lake....all I can say is wow. My family regularly stay at Fat Monkeys and said that a trip to Malawi is not complete without a visit to the lake. Great place to get away and relax and meet new people and make friends, food was...

Only slept here one night while staying in Caoe maclear. Dorm was decent and clean. Bathrooms were decent as well, normal water pressure. Food is not included in the dorm so bring yourself or order from the kitchen. The chicken curry was tasty.

Went with a group of 14 and was advised to book the meal early in the day. Booked the food and it was served on time and was absolutely delicious. Very friendly staff who took time to meet and greet us as we arrived. Spectacular views during the day and a great atmosphere at night.

A campsites night in the beach under wild mango trees. Basic but clean ablutions and a good bar and restaurant on site. Good location, near to the local village, fresh fish, souvenirs and trips all available from locals, bargain for prices.

“We stayed in an en suite double which is far more expensive than dorms, but having spent most of our trip to Malawi in dorms or with shared bathrooms this was well worth the increase in price. I cant comment on the standard of the cheaper accommodation options though!”
