Reviewed 9 Nov. 2008
We were 9 adults staying in villa Santa Marinella 2-9 Oct 2008.
The house is set in the hills above the town of Cullera, Valencia.
When we arrived in Cullera we contacted the owner and he met us at a hotel in town to escort us to the house.
It is about 5 min. driving from the town to the house and I can say for all of us that we were shocked to see the roads to the villa and the surroundings. It is a complete construction area and it is absolutely necessary to have a car. This is not mentioned in any information on the villa, on the web.
The villa is not in walking distance with the beach or any public services.
We paid for 1 week in the villa EUR3.025.
20% was paid when reserved through the bank and the rest had to be paid cash. It was a lot of money we had to bring with us because we had to pay 80% of the rental fee cash + 1000 EUR deposit. So we handed out 3.425 EUR at arrival, but the owner was not willing to give us a receipt.
He said that it was not necessary because otherwise you don´t get to enter the villa. When they advertise the villa they offer a cleaning maid that will come to the house every day but the cleaning lady had to have an operation and it was not possible to have another one instead.
They also advertise that they have a gardener that takes care of the garden but he had not been there for a while because the grass had not been mowed for some time and the plants had not been watered. All the plants were very dry with many brown spots. The gardener came once by our request on the 5th day of our stay. The pool area is very nice but the cleaning system in the pool was not working the first 3 days. In the evenings it is possible to have a light in the pool, which is nice but to turn it on you have to go outside, down the stairs and to the swimming pool basement.
The villa is advertised to accommodate 12 people.
Luckily we did not have to use one of the two bedrooms on the ground floor (as we were only 9 adults) as the twin bed is so small and the room does not have any closet. Also you have to go through the garage to enter this room. The villa has a very pretty main door to enter the villa but we were forbidden to use it because of the draught. At arrival the kitchen was very badly cleaned and we had to clean it before we started to use it.
There are 4 bathrooms on the first floor of the villa. The draining boards have cloths to cover the marble. We were forbidden to take it of because the marble has to be protected. There are no hangers for toilette paper and towels. There are no shower curtains in two of the bathrooms so all the water was splashed on the floor and there was a big puddle on the floor after each shower.
On the ground floor is a very nice living room with a nice sofa, chairs and tables. All the furniture has to be covered up with cloths. We felt like everything had to be spared before the real guests arrived.
There is one very small bathroom on the ground floor. It´s shared by the two ground floor bedrooms. The smell in this bathroom was awful. It came from the toilette plumbing.
This bathroom has no hangers for toilette paper and towels and there is no draining board or shelves to put away toiletries.

I can say that we did have a pleasant stay in the villa.
We had a very nice sunny weather and were able to enjoy the pool area and the fantastic view from there.
The living room and the entrance hall are very nice. Some of the bedrooms are nice and some are average.
Luckily the noise from the cranes did not affect us except in some of the mornings, but there are many things to be considered due to the high price and how the villa is advertised. The town of Cullera is not very charming but the beach is nice and clean.
