AMAZING STAY! Can't wait to visit again. From the grounds, the peaceful location, staff and facilities we loved our time here. Stunning poolside villa and caravan site and couldn't have had a better time! Even during winter it's magical. Looking forward to visiting again in summer. Thank you GAHP

This was our 9th Annual Family Get together and 5th at this park. Accommodation (4 cabins) was booked 6 weeks prior and as per previous years I asked for permission for a fire drum to be used and this was granted. When we arrived we were told that although we had our own fire drum and wood we could not use it and the girl I booked with was no long working there. The location for the fire drum was why we booked the cabins we booked. Management would not accept that previous staff had granted this and eventually asked for an extra $50 for permission to use the fire drum. Our bookings equated to over $1400 for 2 nights and they wanted an extra $50 Many activities are now not available or are in need of repair. What a shame this park has gone down hill and we will not be returning.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us this year. Unfortunately, as we explained on your arrival, we do not allow fire pits to be used on cabin sites, or with cabin bookings. I understand that in previous years (and under the previous park management) you may have been granted permission to do so, however this is a park rule that has always been in place and that we are now enforcing more consistently and uniformly. This information is included in our booking terms and conditions, and on our website. Should a group who have cabins booked wish to use a personal fire pit they need to book a camp site to do so, and in fact we had another group in the park at the same time as your group who did that. As the staff member who took your booking is no longer working with us, and had not left any notes on your booking, I was unable to confirm that she had given you permission to use a powered site nearby to your cabins for your fire pit and so had to apply the standard park rules. We offered you the options of utilising the park's communal fire pit (which we provide wood for) or booking a site for your group to use with your personal fire pit. Your group chose to book the powered site closest to your group cabin bookings and we discounted the rate for this camp site as it was not being used as accommodation. As you mentioned, we did unfortunately have to close several of our instructor led adventure activities last December, however we have started hiring canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards at any time to replace the instructor led canoe sessions, and will continue to run archery and kids club activities during our peak periods. We have also upgraded and improved our animal nursery since your last visit to the park and we hope that you got to have a look and a wander in the enclosure. We have plans underway for further new activities to be installed in the near future as alternatives to the activities which had to be decommissioned last year. Kind regards, Belinda - Park Manager

The park which in a delightful position on Lake Hume gets 10/10 and the management team get 11/10. The facilities are well thought out, clean and managed superbly. The huge common camp fire, kitchen and games area are fabulous for larger groups or making friends with other campers. We used a powered van site with a lovely view of the lake and many birds for company. Highly recommended.

Unless you enjoy lots of noise, signs telling you what you can't do and overpriced digs you will not enjoy this park. We stayed for a weekend but felt like we were back at school camp. The only thing missing was the regular beltings.

Hello Bill. Thank you for leaving your review. I am disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I'm not sure what noise it was that bothered you as the park was unusually quiet over the dates of your stay? If it was noise from guests at inappropriate times or levels, we do wish you had let someone know as we would have happily done something about it. We provide all guests with our after hours contact number at check-in, so that they can let us know of any issues after the office has closed. The price of our accommodation, we feel, is very competitive and in line with the industry averages, taking into consideration the facilities on offer in our park. Prices are quoted at the time of booking allowing potential guests to make a decision on whether these prices are acceptable to them or not. With regard to signs telling you what you can't do, I would appreciate if you could communicate to us which signs you find offensive and where they are located so we can review these? We have general signage around the park regarding speed, not riding bikes etc around the amenities block, vacating the communal area by 11.00pm, and not storing bags of ice in the camp kitchen deep freezer. I'm not sure why any of these would be considered "over the top" though? As I'm sure you can appreciate, in a park which can at times be hosting in excess of 500 people, it is necessary to have signage indicating what is and isn't acceptable and safe behaviour. While we try to minimise these as much as possible, informational, instructional and hard rule signage is necessary around the park. Sadly, I think your review has indicated that you definitely did NOT come to school camp at Great Aussie Holiday Park. I'm pretty sure that the hundreds of children who have been through camp at Great Aussie over the years will all attest that they had an awesome time here and had nothing but fun. What a shame you obviously had a very different experience on school camp. Kind regards, Belinda

We arrived Thursday for our first stay and immediately knew we were in for a quality holiday when we saw the rural location and proximity to the lake. Three families, 7 kids two caravanning and one tenting - boating, swimming in the pool and lake, fishing, yabbying, tubing, farm animals, archery, bmx track, mountain biking, Great road bike riding for me through the valleys; excellent staff with positive attitude led by Belinda and Rob. Cafe with good coffee and food. Petrol bowser for the boat and lpg refills for gas bottle. Sensible approach to BYO fire pits and dogs. All in all, one of our best caravan/camp adventures yet. Highly recommend.

Thank you very much for your glowing review! We are really pleased that you and your family enjoyed your first stay with us and were able to make use of all our park facilities. We also love our beautiful rural location and the fact that we are only a short drive into Albury and all the conveniences. Hopefully you lodged your future booking form before you left and secured yourself a booking for next Easter. See you again soon! Kind regards, Belinda.
