We stayed 2 days in this wonderful small boutique hotel set in its own estate, where all manner of produce is grown. The ambiance is one of tranquility and purity. It is in quite a secluded spot and its philosophy is around slow food, organic production and environmental sustainability. The decor is a sort of sophisticated, designer "rustic". We were...

This place definitely has its quirks, but I thought it was absolutely wonderful. Wonderful remote atmosphere.... totally peaceful. It has been created with a lot of thought and love, and even if there are some things which might seem a little unusual I think it all just adds to the charm. The breakfast was wonderful - even if some foreign...

I love going to Monaci delle Terre Nere. I met its owner as we share a passion for organic food and travelling. It is amongst my favourite boutique hotels in Sicily. Its location is simply perfect as you are close enough to the airport of Catania, to the rocky beach around Taormina, and you are on the slopes of the...

We really appreciate your positive notes about the estate, the amazing views of both the Mediterranean sea and the smoking volcano that guests can enjoy, the rooms and the service. This 200 year old monastery that has been converted to a resort on the side of Mount Etna was one of the nicest places we had ever stayed - ever. The room was amazing, the setting was beautiful, the staff were attentive and responsive, and the food was amazing. Highly recommended!

I decided to take a last minute weekend to Sicily and stumbled upon an article where this hotel was mentioned. I read up on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a try. I rented a car as I knew I was going to travel around and go different places and I am very glad I did, it made the most...

If it's relaxation, peace of mind, tranquility and serenity you are after, this is the place to be. Surroundings are pure magic, the grounds and the apartments are very well kept and the staff is extremely helpful. Pity there is no pizzeria or pasta house on site, otherwise nothing else to ask for.

We extended our stay a night (verbally to the man who checked us in) and were asked to leave the day before we were to depart. The housekeeper showed up at our room and gave us a scowl I will never forget. After packing up, the front desk attendant asked us to come up to talk to the manager. The...

Dear Guest, we are very sorry and surprised for your review, since many things you wrote are different from what really happened. First of all, you already wrote to Monaci’s owner who answered to your mail, with his personal excuses and even offering to you a free stay, despite none of the mistakes you reported have been done by our...

Beyond words really, but if you want to cleanse your soul for a night then come to Monaci delle Terri Nere. Enrico and his staff were remarkable. Our two nights at this hotel were a highlight of our trip. A stunning location, beautiful villas, the food was fantastic and staff were very respectful and helpful. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In 2007, by chance, I stumbled upon this place, fell in love with it and decided to devote my life to its resurrection. To bring this place, previously chosen by the monks of Saint Anna’s order for his special energy and extraordinary charm, back to life. It has become the second great project of my life. The estate Monaci delle Terre Nere is situated along the slopes of Mount Etna, the biggest volcano in Europe on the border of the Etna National Park at 500mt above sea level. My wish has been to preserve the historic identity and local traditions, more than a Boutique Hotel it is a home which I hope retains its intimacy. The house which dates from 1800 is listed as one of historical importance. It is now a place where traditional Sicilian Architecture is combined with contemporary art and living. ... more   less
