Had an overnight stop here 14th October 2019. We found the facilities and room very modern. Staff most helpful with parking right outside the front door. Dinner at the restaurant was exceptionally good with a very hearty breakfast offered the next morning. Considering the price was very reasonable we highly recommend this as a place to stay in the beautiful Manteigas area.
This hotel was a fantastic find. The rooms have spectacular views overlooking the mountains. We went to dinner in their restaurant and enjoyed the braised goat and grilled lamb. The food was excellent. The next morning they laid a sumptuous breakfast spread with fresh fruit, multiple breads, cheese and meat, yogurt, cereals, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee. We would absolutely come back to this great find. The area is spectacular and worth the trip and the hotel made this stay one for the memory books.
We planned our stay in this hotel only for one night but then we extended it another night due to this lovely family who cares about this hotel and having the best meal in Portugal.Its not often that you find a good clean lovely hotel with a great restaurant all together but Hotel Vale do Zezere have this two things together that we don't even want to try any places around to eat.Breakfast,lunch and dinner,we have them all in here. When you are coming to Manteigas,dont miss this restaurant for lunch or dinner! You will never get disappointed.
We stayed in this hotel this last weekend. We wanted a place near Top of Serra da Estrela so we could enjoy the snow and hotel surroudings. Although its a 2 estar hotel the instalation are very good. The room is cosy and the staff warmed the room before we arrived. Breakfast is also very good. It's very good to stay for a few nights. But the most important is the staff. A very kind and available one. My wife didn't feel well (due the altitute in the mountains) and they helped a lot to make her confortable (a hot soup for example) and getting medical help. It's great being in a strange place, falling ill and having this suport. A note, the hote has a restaurante....use is, don't need to look anyhting in Manteigas... good food and good price you can find it here (and also with excelent service)…
This hotel was the best hotel we stayed in on our two week tour of northern and central Portugal.The location was fantastic.The scenery was outstanding.It is a great place for hill walking and a good base to see the surrounding area.I will definitely go back to the area and spend more time there. The hotel Vale do zezere was brilliant, the family who run the hotel are very nice and passionate about their hotel and do their upmost to make you feel at home.The food is outstanding.The area reminded me of Bavaria.The hotel is a little gem if you get the chance go there.
