An absolutely incredible hotel. You will be set back a hundred or more years. This former noble house is worth every cent. Look at the photos and you will see why. Great breakfast, friendly host, perfect atmosphere.
Amelia greeted us and gave us a tour of her beautiful home (mansion house) which has been in her family since the 1800. Our room was a lovely large room on the ground floor, huge comfortable bed, tastefully decorated, large wardrobe, mini bar with local wine and port. Breakfast was a communal affair upstairs in a grand salon, all you could want, fresh orange juice, smoothies, tea, fresh coffee, fruit, full continental, beautiful. Although there are no kettles in the room, there is tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits available in the entrance hall all day. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed coming back in an evening to sit in the lounge with a roaring log burner, enjoying a glass of wine. Quite an individual b&b with a delightful host, would recommend to anyone
Lovely old house, beautiful surroundings, great host - highly recommend! Would have loved to stay longer if we had the time. מקום מקסים, מארחת נהדרת, מומלץ בחום. היינו שמחים להשאר יותר אם היה לנו זמן.
I stayed at this beautiful hotel along with my wife for two nights on our trip to Manteigas and it was delightful. It’s like a mini castle with about 12 rooms where half of them are rented out to tourists and the other half being used by the family. Run by this young girl and her mother, they do a fantastic job of making the guests feel at home. As soon as we reached we got a full tour of the beautiful place. They have a nice little living room / fireplace / library where one can chill and just read a book. It also has Netflix. Then there is a delightful game room with a pool table / chess other board games. The castle is from the 17th century I believe and retains its old world charm along with providing all the modern facilities. Our bedroom was amazing snow we loved it. They have a breakfast included which is an amazing spread for such a small hotel with 6 rooms. Everything you need is there and freshly prepared. If you are coming to Manteigas / Serra De Estrella area in Portugal you have to have to stay at this gem !!…
If you are looking for a very comfortable bed and breakfast - look no further. The hotel is in a good location but like everywhere in Manteigas you need to be ready to walk up some steep paths. We had a very good stay in this very old full of character house. The tour given by Amelia was very interesting. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the very poor quality of shower in our room that was impossible to direct anywhere other than down. I'm sure that the wall fitting will be changed in the coming days. I would suggest fitting a sliding height adjustable shower head. PS the Granite bar just round the corner made us feel very very welcome.
"I suggest that you phone the Casa before you go, and discuss whether you want a ground floor or 1st floor room. The stairs to the 1st floor are leisurely and broad, but there is not a lift. Ours was on the ground floor, and had a window to the quiet street (hardly any traffic, and not noisy. Window could be left open as the traditional decorative ironwork bars stop any access. Net curtains and inner shutters. If there is a choice, the owner will show you when you arrive. We arrived and were offered a choice-we plumped for the first room as it was beautifully decorated, and the nearest to the pool. You could walk from room to pool within one minute!"Read full review
"Probably not an issue. We had a ground-level room at the front, and it was quiet. (And I am usually sensitive to noise)"Read full review
