Although not being big on soaking in hot water, our friend arranged this hotel as it was along the way and an interesting stopping point for our trip ...... There were two choices for the hot water - in the large pool or in a private room in the spa. We didn't know about the former (we assumed pool meant cold water! and the spa meant hot water!!) so we used the private room. The water is filled for each bath. We could not get the window opened but also, we thought we might end up with a bunch of bugs ... otherwise, the room was clean. The bedroom was average. The first big surprise is that the prices in the dining room were not excessively high, given that there are no other convenient dining options for guests. Service was good as was the food - several of us had trout. Breakfast was an average buffet of meats/cheeses, breads/pastries, yogurt and cereal and the usual beverages. The second surprise was the lovely hike up the hill opposite the hotel. We walk at a fairly decent pace and it took us about 30 minutes to get to the mirador - a lovely view up and down the valley (the next day, we drove up with our friends). Although there is a steady incline, it is not steep; we had to ford a couple of small rivulets (either wade through or jump over). Overall, an interesting stay in a historic hotel.

Although it’s old it is simply magnificent. The thermal baths are fantastic both indoor and outdoor. Food was very good both dinner and breakfast. The view from your room is breathtaking. Really wish we would have stayed longer. The hot springs water is in all the room too!

This place is like a private country Club with fine dinning, great rooms , fine art in an area off the beaten path. WE rode bikes in norther Argentina arriving here (I wsh we would have spent the night here) but we dined and it was one of the best meals. It is like an old private Country Lcub in the North East. The staff was superb. They had natural hot springs pool, sauna and inside the ambiance was great

We had problems with reception during both check-in and check- out. They are not friendly or accommodating and don't speak much English. Above all, they don't try very hard to be helpful. The rooms are not that nice (even after we paid for an upgrade), nor is the restaurant. However, the view is lovely and the thermal pool and terrace are great. In the morning we had a really lovely walk up nearby the mountain. Overall, I have no regrets about staying the one night but can't really say that it was a nice hotel experience.

The hotel is the stereotypical image of a grand hotel of faded glory. Beautiful location, grand restaurant and common areas. The rooms are very tired, but functional and the wifi works ok +\_. Food is good in the restaurant and menu prices good, no gouging which would be easy as there is not much competion near bye. The views are nice as the location is unique. Breakfast is essentially bread and coffee, very little selection. In addition the staff are not great, I requested to see a room before I paid and the lady at reception was short and not courteous at all. The lady at the pool snack area would not bring the tea to your table! The waiter in the restaurant was good, steered us into ordering good quality meals. The only major problem is the nightly cost not anywhere worth 2270 pesos(150 USD) a night with local tax. It's a 65 or 70 dollar a night old hotel, the hot spring water pool is ok, the "Spa" is not worth using. Just not enough value for the money, I stayed in a nicer place in Tilcara for 50 bucks.
