Our friend was having their wedding at Rockwater and my husband and I decided to make it a little getaway and booked their "fling package" thinking it would be a great deal. TERRIBLE MISTAKE. The package included a tenthouse suite (with waterview) for 2 nights, breakfast for 2 (for both days), Tandem Bliss massage and a dinner for two. After doing the calculations, it turns out ITS MUCH CHEAPER TO PAY FOR EACH THING SEPARATELY. Our package cost came close to $1600 after tax and IF we booked everything separate, we would be charged at most around $1200-1300. When i emailed the resort and asked why we are charged more for a package, the owner CLARANCE CHOW emailed back a breakdown. HERES THE KICKER. the breakdown included MAX charge of everything. Example, for dinner, he charged the most expensive item x2, for Breakfast he charged the most expensive item x2 and added "sides + juice/coffee" etc. Meaning, not only did you NOT get a discount by getting the package, you will be charged the maximum amount he can charge you. AND THEY PUT AUTO GRATUITY ON A HOTEL PACKAGE?? I didn't even know you can do that. Is it legal? Clarence didn't seem to care, NOR DID HE INFORM US BEFORE HAND, so we have been tipping the staff generously (staff was super friendly). Want to know how much of a scum the owner is? HE CHARGED TAX ON GRATUITY! yes, he charged us tax on the auto gratuity for the hotel package. When i told him we were not informed of the auto grat and we have been tipping on top as he never informed us (all receipts we have says "GRATUITIES NOT INCLUDED"). he was very condescending and said "Well, based on what you're telling me, you are a very generous gentleman" WTF?? how is this even customer service... Once we made note of this auto grat, we started to notice the bills having the showing "GRATUTIES NOT INCLUDED" with the NOT scratched out. This is how they recover from scamming customers and being confronted. So, for our last breakfast (unfortunately we did not realize until the last day we were there), we decided to order all the things we wanted that we "already paid for" according to his package breakdown. and guess what? when we went to check out, they tried to charge us for the "side" and said IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE. But I have an email from Clarance saying it was so they had to take it off my bill. Now, if you think the above was bad....my friend's wedding was beautiful but STRESSFUL. Clarance decided to scam her too. days leading up to her wedding, he constantly made requests and small changes in the contract, which is fine...but Clarance loves the fine print and would add sneaky little terms and conditions in the contract where she wouldn't see, so each time he requests small changes, he would slip something in. It made her very stressed and constantly have to go through the contract with a fine tooth comb. Clarance continues to complain about how he doesn't think she should have a wedding outdoors (because he didn't want to go find and set up a marquee). He complained that he's short staff and worried about food waste (for food she's paying for...). On the wedding day, he called her at her room and told her he's going to charge her an extra night because she stored some wedding stuff in a shed (their "bridal suite") near the marquee. During the wedding, HE SHORT THE FOOD FOR THE GUESTS. Yes, my friends paid an extra $17 PER PERSON to make sure the guests would get beef AND salmon. However, Clarance decided to take the money but only provided HALF of the amount he agreed to (100 guests and only 50 pieces of salmon). The next day, he ARGUED with the bride and groom. Telling them they should be ashamed of how the guests are and wasting food etc. He also told the bride she should be "ashamed of her behaviour and Vancouver is not that big so she should becareful of her reputation". After much arguing, he said "fine, i'll refund you for half the salmon if that'll make you feel better". Really?? that's how you do your business? It's really ashame because the resort is beautiful and the location is gorgeous. however, the owner is a scumbag and will take your money and run. No customer service what so ever. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER GOING BECAUSE CLARANCE CHOW WILL TRY AND SCAM YOU FOR EVERY PENNY YOU GOT.

We came from the UK to see our son get married at the resort and although the resort wasn't the 5 star I was expecting the location is stunning. My son was told that there would be a table and chairs set up for the wedding under the marquee on the lawn over looking the sea. When we arrived at the venue, there were 8 chairs and 1 table...no decoration to distinguish it as a wedding. We thought being a 5 star resort maybe they could have put some artificial flowers on the table so it looked a little special. If only this was the only thing to happen....we noticed 2 workmen building a new deck for one of the tents ( we had heard sawing and banging all day) abit annoying for a relaxing resort, anyway we presumed they would have been told a wedding was taking place so would down tools for the 20 min the ceremony took place. Unfortunately this wasn't the case so all through the ceremony we had the noise of sawing and banging! The video I was taking for family members who could not attend was ruined. When we eventually sat down to dinner, they placed us in a corner on 2 separate tables away from the window and views, we had to ask for lights to be put on as it was so dark. There is a very limited menu, mainly fish. In our room we noticed that they did do a chicken dish which we tried to order for my daughter but apparently that menu is over a year old! Although there was only 11 of us they managed to get our order wrong. I complained to reception and I have since written 2 e mails but have yet to have any response from them. As far as I can see they are more than willing to take your money but are unwilling to make one of the best days of your life into a special occasion. That extra attention to detail would have made a huge difference and perhaps pre warning workmen there was a wedding taking place might be something to think of! I think they basically couldn't give a damn after the bill was paid! Whoever runs this place should be ashamed of themselves!!

I truly have to say overall it was very disappointing. We both said we would not return. Mainly why we would not return is the food and beverage was not good. There is a limited menu. We were there for three nights and only ate two meals there. One dinner and one breakfast and that was enough for us to make a decision that we would not go back there for a meal. That is really disappointing that we would have to drive for the rest of our meals. I have to be honest I would have a hard time recommending the resort strictly based on its food and beverage. The resort is very remote so I feel it should reflect a better food and beverage. The only criticism on the tent rooms is the decor is very out dated.

Excellent tenting experience with a 5 stars amenities. Very easy to get to location. Lovely towns along the way--Gibson and Sechelt. You can hear the sound of the wave hitting the rocky shore just outside the unit and the rain hitting the canopy.

Don't waste your money. The bathroom shower had a pile of hair in the drain and it looked like they had not cleaned under the bed in months. The service was also not very professional. I went to the front desk to complain about my dirty room. I was told that they could not give me the managers name. I was told that I needed to send an email to their generic reservation email address. They did not have enough parking spots, so the front desk told me to park in the loading zone, but would have to get up early to move my car. The resort is in a beautiful location. It's too bad that they don't take cleaning rooms seriously. When you paid over $400 a night for a room you expect a certain level of service and cleanliness. the reply from my email was equally unprofessional. I would never recommend this resort to anyone.
