Visited Ibiza for over 25 years and use to look up at this hotel and longed to stay...as the saying goes Careful what you wish for!!
Child on reception when we arrived, I think Granny came to our aid, we were staying and shown to Room 203 with front view and balcony.
The room was small and over powered by a mock 4 poster with badly stained curtains, the wardrobe smelt of damp, there was 4 coathangers to share, 2 very small drawers, who ever sleeps on the left of the bed cant see the small television. All the display cabinets on each floor the shelves were an inch high in dust, the seating on the roof terrace was filthy and stained with the remnants of a birds nest left on the table.
The bathroom was tiny with a half bath with wall shower, when you get out of the shower, you hit your knee on the toilet!
I waited outside on the terrace the next morning for a coffee for over 20 minutes whilst a guy played on his phone directly behind me, still waiting to be served.
In a nutshell, found a Proper hotel near by and left after 1 night, when we left the Granny re appeared and said..Oh everyone is leaving today....she had only checked me into her dump half a day before!!. Our room on leaving had the bed made but there was no toilet paper replaced or toiletries
We had to walk past La Ventana every day and the cheeky woman who had been paid by me for 5 days had even re let our room, so double bubble!!
It may be rustic, I agree and it does have a great location but it was dirty, stank of damp and had a couldnt give a s--- attitude, when I read other peoples reviews I cant believe I stayed at the same hotel
Never Ever Again...little tip, pay a bit more and stay at the Mirador around the corner from here

I was impressed by the kindness of all the staff. The rooms are quite big but need a better maintenance (like noisy air conditioning, broken showers, malfunctioning locks). They upgraded twice to a better room without making me pay any surcharge. If you go there by car, it is quite difficult to find a parking space, being in Dalt Vila. I would definitely go back there to stay, if the rooms would be a bit less pricey

Well I must say after reading prior reviews I was in for a pleasant surprise. The lady at reception could not have been more helpful and attentive on arrival we were shown to our room which was actually more like an apartment with a bedroom one side with window looking over rooftops and onto the ancient wall, a bathroom with bath and shower attachment and then other side a living area with 2 sofas a table and a gorgeous little balcony. It was not the cleanest room ever but the bedding was all fresh and clean and a bit of dust really didn't worry me.
I loved the fact you could walk out and be in the middle of the Old Town and then walk down the old drawbridge and find yourself in a little square of organic food stalls.
The breakfast was good and sitting out on the terrace away from the hustle and bustle was a welcome relief.
A lovely old hotel, maybe needs a bit of refurb but don't let that put you off as it really is a lovely place run by attentive people.

Lovely outdoor dinning space away from the tourist path but close enough to venture into it. The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive. Obvious that the 2 owners are passionate about the restaurant. Good luck from Chris & Niki

We had a beautiful, relaxing stay at this lovely hotel in the middle of old town. The hotel is full of beautiful art and antiques. Our room was spacious and clean. The position is perfect to explore Ibiza town. Lots of great restaurants on the doorstep. The lovely people who run the hotel made our stay so special for my partners birthday. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much La Ventana!

The worst hotel I've ever been considering the price they have the courage to ask for a room!
Very bad rooms and very dirty. The staff is very badly organised and unpolite!!!
The only good point is the location: you are inside the wall of the old town... but is it really worth!?! We just "slept" one night dreaming to go out as soon as possible
Summary: Just avoid it!!!!

Stayed at the La Ventana for a couple of nights this August and I can honestly say the following:

Location - Fantastic. Wonderful restaurants down the road: El Olivo, La Oliva...
Reception staff - Fantastic
Room size - a bit on the small size, ok balcony
Room price - 250 Euros without breakfast is an absolute rip-off!
Cleanliness - very poor! Dirty beds, pillows, floors...The room & the sheets smelt bad!
Cupboards - dirty & in terrible shape. Never took my clothes out of my suitcase.
Bathroom - very old, antique, no toiletries, dirty. I had to buy my own toiletries and gave the bathtub a good wash! The towels are years old & in very poor shape!
No elevator - had to go up and down from 3rd floor with heavy luggage!
The top floor terrace was so dirty & abandoned that I never wanted to go back there again.
The common areas of the hotel are a mess, totally disorganized and everything all over the place.
Never had a single meal in the hotel but the kitchen looked an absolute chaos.

This hotel has alot of potential, mainly due to its location but at the moment it is a cheap hostal which should charge no more than 85/90 Euros a night! Having read some good reviews of the hotel I tought I would be ok but I really wasn´t. To pratice this steep prices La Ventana needs an URGENT and complete renovation in all departments!

We planned to stay at the Ventana this summer for 7 nights and booked the room directly via internet. When we arrived we found out that reality coudn't keep up with the pictures and the reviews in the internet. We had booked room no 302, which seems to be their figurehead. In fact the room was really small and the drapery on the ceilings was old, unwashed for years and had a strange smell. Although we had booked directly with the hotel and on the homepage they emphasize the quiet location no one had ever informed us that a youth jazz festival (!) would take place in the castle across the street of our hotel exactly during our stay. The festival lasted 4 days of our 7-day-journey, from appr. 8 pm to 2 am and some of the bands that played were really miserable. Sure, we didn't go to Ibiza to sleep but if you want to relax in the evening or gather some sleep for the party-night loud music is really annoying! And although the hotel must have known that this festival would take place they didn't say a word to us!!
Beside that "Jazz"(?)-Music there was a tedious mechanical noise during the night, maybe from the fume hood of the kitchen. The next morning we told them the problem but they had no idea where the noise was coming from and couldn't help us any way.
It had been previously agreed on in our reservation that we have to switch into another room after 5 days, because room no 302 was reserved for another couple. They always assured that room no 101 is as beautiful als no 302 and so this had been no major problem for us.
When we had checked in on the first day nobody had reminded us that we would have to change the room and so we had assumed that the problem had been settled and we could keep room no 302. However, after a long Ibiza-party-night we got a phone call at 11 am that we have to leave our room this minute, the new guest would arrive the next hour. We took our belongings and brought them to room no 101 and stepped into a room that was even smaller, on the balcony you could look (and grab) directly on the dishes of the people in the restaurant, the outer balcony door couldn't be closed and the safe didn't work. Thus, we asked for another room but were told that all of the other rooms were occupied. Our question for a reduction was refused by the front desk and the manager repeatedly refused to talk to us in person. Since the front desk was not able and willing to find a solution to the problem we finally checked out and switched to the El Palacio Hotel. Since they only had an appartment available we had to pay additional € 70,-- per night.
However, the Ventana refused to refund this amount, which was caused by their incapability to fulfill their contracutal obligations.
Due to this circumstances we cannot recommend this hotel.

We didn't plan it, but due to a postponed meeting and delayed flight we booked this "hotel" shortly, luckily it was just one night.
OBNOXIOUS. A household this chaotic, careworn, dirty and wreched: still can't figure out why no one noticed how deserted the terrace was while the whole area was crammed with people. And expensive it was! Avoid it! Still if you'd enjoy a stay in a Harry Potter movie, take a chance!

Probably one of my favourite hotels that I've ever stayed in.
Expensive, even for a small room overlooking a back alley, but full of traditional character, friendly staff, great location in Ibiza Old Town, and the best thing was a private canvas-covered roof terrace with views over the rooftops of Sa Penya and the harbour. Difficult to park, and you need a token for car access behind the old town walls during high season. Great restaurant downstairs.
