We loved our stay at Bluegum Ridge Cottages. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and the cottage was exactly what we were hoping to find. We appreciated the full kitchen, spacious living room area, and separate bedroom. The location was very quiet and very relaxing.
A most enjoyable two night stay in well equipped cottage with all the amenities, except WiFi. Cottage has good views, with Kookaburras and spectacular Blue Gums adding to the enjoyment. Parking is convenient and secure and cottages are far enough from the main access road, which is quite busy, to avoid dust and noise. Owners are friendly and most helpful.
We arrived very late due to a flight delay into Melbourne but it was no problem. The fire was going when we arrived and the place was immaculate. The cottage was very spacious and the delicious bottle of bubbly was perfect! we loved the warmth and comfort the cottage oozed and the view in the morning was breathtaking. Loved it!!
A charming rustic retreat with spectacular sweeping views of the valley and mountains behind, framed by ancient looking Bluegum trees. The welcome here is warm and generous- we enjoyed handmade mint choc fudge, King Valley sparkling, fruits and pantry items as thoughtful complementary inclusions. Another welcome feature were the organic eco-friendly bath products. The local wildlife was abundant, from the wanted (cows, calf’s and horses in the adjoining paddock) to the unwanted (scary spider in living room and frog inside the shower!). The aesthetic is definitely ‘rustic’ and some fixtures looked a little tired, but the beds were comfortable and linen gorgeously crisp. The major downside for us was out of Mary and Des’s control- the extreme weather! The heat never let up and the bedrooms were stifling. After the first diabolical night we requested fans which provided relief from both the heat and noise from the a/c unit. The other pesky issue was the overly complex arrangement of TV/DVD which proved almost impossible to use. However, all in all a lovely stay in a gorgeous setting with generous hosts.…
Fantastic place to stay. Amazing views of the country. Well priced, many thoughtful little extras supplied by the hosts. Great place to stay if doing Craigs Hut via High Country Horses. Only a 3 min drive to High Country Horse. Only recommendation is take food for cooking as about a 15 min trip to get to quality restaurants if eating out and all cooking gear is available in the cottages. Awsome spa set outdoors amongst the beautiful garden.
Beautiful cottage, beautiful outlook and run by beautiful people! What more can I say? We based ourselves at the cottage (although it was hard to leave) whilst we visited the area around including Sheepyard Flats. A tranquil, beautiful and picturesque spot. It is very convenient that you could take your own supplies or they do offer a breakfast hamper on request. There is also a spa which is a nice way to relax after a busy, walking day. Will be going back some day for a longer stay than the two days.
Staff - Really good to deal with through email, and available when we arrived to book in. Able to pay via EFTPOS which was great. Setting - Beautifully set in the gorgeous alpine countryside with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and out over the sweeping paddocks Cottage - Home away from home. Had everything we needed, very well setup and provided for. Sitting on the deck and using the hammock was great. Access - Easy 15-20min drive into Mansfield and half an hour to base of Buller. You don't need WIFI to stay here - just book it and escape the city madness for the beautiful serenity of this place.
I've just returned from 3 nights at Bluegum Ridge. I was badly in need of a break from city life and work pressures and this proved to be the perfect elixir. From the lovely greeting (Mary & Des are perfect hosts) and a beautiful bottle of red which was waiting for me on the bench to the time I left, this was without a doubt the best break away from town that I've had in years. I wanted to be "off grid". The rooms do not have internet access but this was exactly what I needed though the offer was made to use the wifi up in the main house if I'd wanted. There is telephone reception in the cottage though which was more than enough. The cottages are comfortable and well equipped with views out towards Mt Buller. The bed was comfortable and there was really nothing I could have wanted for. Definitely going back as soon s I can grab another couple of nights out of the office. Although the cottage are side by side the plantings in between ensure full privacy; I was conscious of people in the other cottage but they in no way intruded into my space.…
I have just returned from three wonderful nights at Bluegum ridge, a surprise getaway for my partner's birthday. As two city workers, we were absolutely aching to get away from it all and relax for a few days, and we did just that! We were particularly excited about sitting in the spa sipping champagne, but as luck would have it the jacuzzi broke the morning of our arrival and despite quick action from the hosts, needed a new part and would not be up and running until Friday (when we checked out). I think the disappointment may have been visible on our faces, and Des and Mary were so apologetic. Not only did they throw in a beautiful 'granola package' breakfast for free (plus half a dozen eggs!), but they have given us a voucher for a 2 night stay at half price so that we can return to enjoy the spa at another time - talk about going above and beyond! The place itself was simply stunning. View of Buller over rolling green paddocks, horses peacefully grazing out the window, gorgeous back yard area with swing outside one cabin, hammock outside the other. The cabins themselves are completely decked-out - no detail spared, including a coffee plunger and ground coffee beans (I had forgotten to bring coffee so this was a godsend). We spent most of the time lounging by the fire, relaxing on the verandah, and hanging out with the friendly horses - it was bliss. Mary and Des are wonderful hosts, nothing is too difficult and they're such a pleasure to speak with - even giving us great directions and pointers to check out on the trip home which really made the journey enjoyable. We brought our rescued greyhound with us too, who just loved the open space (and fire of course!) and he was made to feel as welcome as we were (by their gorgeous two little dogs, too!) Can't say anything for the snow as we didn't hit the slopes, but didn't need to! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing time away in the beautiful snowy mountain country.…
Stayed here for 2 nights in this 2 bedroom cottage which was perfectly set up. The hospitality was wonderful as were the breakfasts. The views were stunning and very relaxing and we would definitely go back and stay here again. Highly recommended.
