We loved our stay at Bluegum Ridge Cottages. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and the cottage was exactly what we were hoping to find. We appreciated the full kitchen, spacious living room area, and separate bedroom. The location was very quiet and very relaxing.

Beautiful cottage, beautiful outlook and run by beautiful people! What more can I say?
We based ourselves at the cottage (although it was hard to leave) whilst we visited the area around including Sheepyard Flats. A tranquil, beautiful and picturesque spot. It is very convenient that you could take your own supplies or they do offer a breakfast hamper on request. There is also a spa which is a nice way to relax after a busy, walking day.
Will be going back some day for a longer stay than the two days.

Just came back with the family from one of the most fabulous holidays we've ever had. Nestled in the rolling hills not far from the base of Mt Buller is Bluegum Ridge cottages. It's absolutely picture perfect. The hosts Barb and John are wonderful, they light your log fire every afternoon so your cabin is beautiful and cosy after a day of skiing up the mountain, and the mountain is awesome. Freshly baked bread or cooked breakfasts if you need it, a small wine cellar, and very reasonable rates! The beds are gorgeous and so so comfortable we all had the most beautiful sleep. Lovely linen and towels provided, chocolates and champagne on arrival! We can't wait to go back. If you're in Melbourne it's apparently only 2 1/2 hours away, we're seriously thinking about moving to Melbourne! Can't say enough about it, we absolutely loved it!

Staff - Really good to deal with through email, and available when we arrived to book in. Able to pay via EFTPOS which was great.
Setting - Beautifully set in the gorgeous alpine countryside with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and out over the sweeping paddocks
Cottage - Home away from home. Had everything we needed, very well setup and provided for. Sitting on the deck and using the hammock was great.
Access - Easy 15-20min drive into Mansfield and half an hour to base of Buller.

You don't need WIFI to stay here - just book it and escape the city madness for the beautiful serenity of this place.

I've just returned from 3 nights at Bluegum Ridge. I was badly in need of a break from city life and work pressures and this proved to be the perfect elixir. From the lovely greeting (Mary & Des are perfect hosts) and a beautiful bottle of red which was waiting for me on the bench to the time I left, this was without a doubt the best break away from town that I've had in years.

I wanted to be "off grid". The rooms do not have internet access but this was exactly what I needed though the offer was made to use the wifi up in the main house if I'd wanted. There is telephone reception in the cottage though which was more than enough.

The cottages are comfortable and well equipped with views out towards Mt Buller. The bed was comfortable and there was really nothing I could have wanted for. Definitely going back as soon s I can grab another couple of nights out of the office. Although the cottage are side by side the plantings in between ensure full privacy; I was conscious of people in the other cottage but they in no way intruded into my space.

Stayed here for 2 nights in this 2 bedroom cottage which was perfectly set up. The hospitality was wonderful as were the breakfasts. The views were stunning and very relaxing and we would definitely go back and stay here again. Highly recommended.

We stayed two nights at the Bluegum Cottages in early July with family friends from Melbourne. There were five of us in total.

The living/kitchen space is well laid out and quite functional for a small space. The kitchen is well equipped, having all of the necessary tools for a few days of self catering. And the beds were quite comfortable with lots of warm blankets.

The Cotteges are an easy drive (less than 15 mins) to Mansfield and an even shorter drive to the Merrijig hotel (ie pre dinner drinks).

While we were not in the area to take in any snow sports, we did get to enjoy fantastic views of the mountains from the front porch each morning. We were also able to take a few hikes on some of the tracks close by.

It's worth the drive to find out 'where the frig is merrijig' and the Bluegum Ridge Cottages.

The Blue Wren cottage is just charming with a fabulous rustic feel that will ensure you know you're on vacation. But if the country cottage isn’t enough, then the sweeping views from the cottage of the picturesque Victorian high country and the sound of cows mooing in the distance should guarantee that the city is only a distant memory.
I located the cottages after hunting through some very average looking but expensive accommodation on Mt Buller. I simply was not prepared to pay hundreds of dollars a night for a small drab hotel room on Mt Buller.
The cottages are located about 30 minutes from the ski slopes of Mt Buller and provide a perfect, reasonably priced alternative to staying on Mt Buller. The only annoyance is the $38 per day charge for the privilege of driving up to the ski slopes on Mt Buller.
I think staying at the cottages would be even more delightful in the warmer months, especially because there is a hot tub.
The cottages are also located about 30 minutes from Mansfield, a lovely country town with some fabulous stores.
If you are looking for a great restaurant nearby, I recommend you try the Magnolia in Mansfield. There is a pub and restaurant, the Hunt Club Hotel, at the end of School Road but I cannot recommend this eatery.
The cottages are beautifully maintained and it is clear that Megan and Cameron care that you have an enjoyable stay. The cottages have a small flat screen television that is located in a bit of an odd place on a built-in ledge. If you are used to a large flat screen television and looking forward to kicking back and watching television, you might want to consider alternative accommodation. (I note that I am addicted to television but even I managed to love my stay at the cottage without a large screen television.) There are a range of board games to keep you entertained when you give up on trying to watch television. The cottage contains a washing machine but no drier.
Mobile Phone and Internet Coverage
In relation to mobile phone and internet coverage, I have the following information for you:
1. Optus: Mobile phone coverage is good from the cottages.
Internet coverage is non-existent. According to the Optus website, the cottages should have internet coverage but as I discovered this is just not true. After much time on the phone to Optus technical support I was told by Optus that the cottages are just too far away from the Merrijig exchange.
2. Telstra: Mobile phone coverage is good from the cottages
Internet coverage is also good.
As I needed to check emails while I was at the cottages and I had an Optus plan, I simply purchased a Telstra pre-paid sim card for internet coverage. It worked brilliantly.

Stayed at the cottage over the weekend while visiting Mt Buller. It was just amazing. Everything about the cottage and the location was first class. Many thanks to Megan and Cameron.
The cottage is a good 30 minute drive from Mount buller and is a perfect spot to stay even if its not to visit the snow resorts.
The location is just amazing and very serene. If you are looking for a weekend getaway to recharge your batteries, this is it.
