We spent 6 nights here, booking through Booking.com at $60+tax which is half this hotel's walk in rate. La Piedra could really do with some competition - it's currently the best of a pretty drab bunch of hotels in Bahía. We went to Bahía knowing that it remained a sleepy place untainted by the dreadful tourist sprawls along the Ecuadorian...

Stayed here just for one night. In December of 2008. Asked the taxi driver for the best hotel in Bahia. Comfortable, clean, convenient location right on the beach. Delicious cuisine. A little expensive.

A happy land of hammocks, cleanish pool, and cold beverage staff. The weather is cloudy, but warm enough, and swells smash over the breakwater in front of the hotel. We eat dinner in the hotel restaurant, but weirdly enough are the only ones eating despite the hotel being completely full. Oh well, the whole place has the feel of Spain,...

This is a very nicely appointed hotel in one of the best beaches of Ecuador. Conveniently located right on the beach, this is one of the few hotels in Bahia de Caraquez that has a nice, big pool and access to all amenities. I stayed at La Piedra recently, and I was not dissapointed, it was lovely and the staff...

The hotel has a beautiful location and was a great place to stay in Bahia. The rooms were clean and I got a kick out the elephant towels. The problem I had was that the hotel staff was not attentive. We went down to the bar and it took forever to have anyone greet us. It then took forever to...

The hotel has a beautiful location right on the point. The rooms were average but clean. There was not much in customer service at the front desk, the bar, or from the hotel staff in general. The wi-fi was sporadic at best. We did not use the pool but it looked very nice. Overall an average hotel with a very...

We stayed at La Piedra one night in May and although the hotel has a great location right on the point in Bahia I don't know that I would stay there again. Anything to do with the staff was a nightmare because they all claimed to speak zero English and they were slow to do anything once communication was established....

Spent two days of relaxation soaking up some sun. Was told our room had partial ocean view and was totally surprised to come around the corner and see the expanse of blue. Just have to open the door to get the entire view!! Incredible stay - clean, comfortable room - bar and restaurant on site, pool to ourselves (weekday), walk...

My brother and I recently spent the night at La Piedra while visiting the Bahia area. The hotel has a prime location, overlooking the Ocean at the entrance to the Chone river estuary and our room, by the large pool, had a great view of the Pacific. The room was very clean, quiet, well decorated, quite large and well outfitted,...

Beautiful location right on the ocean but showing signs of wear and tear, staff a little stand offish. Next trip in April stayed at Casa Grande two blocks away similar quality be supper friendly staff and owner was very helpful.

“There are many excellent rooms with amazing access to the pool and views of the ocean, so it's important to talk to someone before choosing a room. Also, be careful of the descriptions on other websites as many of them are incorrect and photos are not necessarily of room being described.”

“We stayed in 115 large room great bed, least foot traffic, afternoon sun or some shade from structure and trees available, nice little walled patio, waves on the sea wall, 50 feet to the pool. 116 is similar but at other end. Ask to see your room and select the one you like.”
