We stayed one night at the Oriel to attend a funeral in Bangor. The room was comfy and the breakfast acceptable. The problem was that when we returned for a cup of tea following the funeral they refused to serve us saying that they were preparing for a wedding. Very disappointing.

Booked a spa treat with afternoon tea with a friend, we had asked for a hot stone treatment but it turned out they did not do these, they did offer an alternative which we accepted. The spa relaxation area was not what we expected, it was more like a waiting room with the TV on and other quests having the... More

I stayed in the hotel for a week for work. The room was ok, a little dated but served its purpose. The breakfast was nice enough. It the fry up was poor at best. The pool was ok but very dark and on the other hand the sauna was like daylight inside! I would stay there again but only if... More

We had booked 13 rooms in this hotel for 7 consecutive nights and the hotel went out of the way to ensure we showed our international guests excellent hospitality. From the reception to all casual staff we got excellent customer service throughout the whole week. We were constantly putting pressure on the staff to meet our needs which included flexible... The bedroom and bathroom were excellent but much improvement is required with the service at dinner. When we entered the dining room, there was nobody there to greet and seat us- in fact another guest told us to take a seat and someone would be coming. The order for our glasses of wine had to be told to 3 different... More

The team at the oriel made our wedding day run really smoothly, from the planning stage through to the day itself, they accommodated our wishes for the small wedding. The day ran like clockwork and Michelle and her team looked after everyone, the night team got the rooms ready for the ceremony admirably, and the food was hot and plentiful... More

We recently attended a Dinner Dance at Oriel and found the experience most enjoyable from the moment we were greeted at reception until we left the following morning. The hotel is quite quirky with a number of small lounges and bars and winding corridors leading from room to room. The food at the Dinner Dance was excellent, well presented and hot.Our one criticism... This hotel was very good, and a great place to stay. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere is informal. We were attending a Dinner Dance and i must say that the food was delicious and served piping hot. Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff, those serving and those on the bar. The function room... More
