Pak Being is quite drab and little more than a staging post between slow boat trips on Mekong. Stayed one night in downstairs room - clean and functional with good hot water and blankets on the firm bed - note it gets quite cold at night in late December. Paid 100,000 KIP. Only problem was leaving very early - up...

Only stayed overnight on the way to Luang Prabang. The room was decent sized, hot showers were ok, a bit of a musty smell from the bathroom but overall the place is very clean. The owner is a nice guy and they have a cafe across the road that do a decent westerner style breakfasts. Absolutely fine for an overnighter.

As with many stopped here on the slow boat down to Luang Prabang. Two things before you get here to note. The slow boat no longer goes to Luang Prabang but stops about 10km outside so you will get off and will likely get into a tuktuk to finish the ride to town. The ride is 20k kip from the...

Pakbeng exists predominantly as a stopover for the slowboat tourists. It caters for the boats that stop there from both directions. Monsovanh is OK for a one night stop over, but don't expect high quality. Rooms were reasonably clean and the bathroom a little tight but still OK. The towels were as thin as they could possibly be and still...

Got a double aircon room for 110,000. Well worth it. New aircon that worked perfectly. Good shower. Pretty poor internet in the rooms but just about manageable. Clean, quiet and close to the slow boat stop for a quick and easy get away in the morning.

Most people only stay one day in Pakbeng because they're doing a slowboat tour to Luang Prabang. Still there are much options to stay for such a small city. Monsovanh guesthouse is one the popular places to stay. The rooms are really basic an not that clean, but for one night it's fine. It's cheap and the people who run...

We stayed here midway on our slow boat from Luang Prabang. We weren't expecting much with everyone only staying one night but this place is lovely. Owner really welcoming. Clean and simple room. Close to the boat pier too. Would definitely recommend.

We didn't book in advance. We stopped in this town as part as the slow boat stopover and just started to walk looking for a place to stay. We denied the offers of whom tried to sell just when we got off the boat (it's too annoying). This guesthouse seemed nice from outside, we checked the rooms just before and...

Stayed here for 1 night as part of the slowboat stopover from Thailand to Laos. Was recommended this place by a fellow backpacker who used to organise tours in SE Asia. It's a short walk straight up the hill from the boat dropoff on your left handside (opposite the bakery where u should pre-order your sandwiches for the next morning!)....

We spent the night here in early February. While we expected a basic place, we were very disappointed with the guesthouse. The man at check-in was surly at best and difficult to find when we had an issue or two. When we did find him and let him know about the huge column of ants streaming up our bathroom wall,...
