Jeez, this was my third visiting the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in the Mayan Riviera and it was wonderful. I had a lot of virgin pina coladas, played archery for the first time ever, and made friends with some of the staff. I even got some flowers from housekeeping which shocked me.

This was our groups 5th visit to the grand! Some things have improved, some however have declined. The star friends are amazing!!!Salin, Karen, and Arron made every day fun!!! They remembered everyone’s names and made sure we had fun and were aware of all the activities going on!

Do any of the a la carte restaurants or the buffet offer an outside eating area for evening dining? What are the current top picks for restaurants? Can you recommend room service for dinner, when I get tired of dressing up :)
Only outside dining is the Italian and the Buffet. I have not seen outside dining at Toni's, as per the poster above. We don't tend to do room service, so i cannot comment on that. All the restaurants are fantastic. Our fav is probably the Caribbean Raw Bar and the Japanese. And my hubby LOVES the buffet

I find all of this a little hard to believe. The staff at the Grand is incredible! I don't think this is a legit review.
Well we were just there last week, and I would say, EVERYONE bent over backwards twice to help. Butlers knocked on our doors daily asking ----was there anything they could do*** it was almost annoying they were so nice. Waiters and housekeepers were all friendly. Service personal in the buffets, line cooks. To be honest it was like walking into an alternative universe. Now at the pool there are a lot of people and fewer waitresses, it took them a few minutes but, we were asked if there was anything they could do. I don't know why anyone could have a negative time, unless they stepped on someones toes..... Really we will be back or to another IBstr*Grand....

we are going on Dec 30 to Jan 6th - what happens for New Years? and what is the weather like? what to do if the weather is bad?
Never been there for NYE, but I’m sure the hotels will be doing something special. We travelled there in the winter numerous times - the weather has generally been great, but even if it rains, it’s still pretty nice. Typically, we’d head into Playa del Carmen for a little shopping....

My wife and I are staying for seven nights in May. We both want to play golf twice while we are there and plan to bring our own clubs with us. Is it true that we both get two free rounds? Also how can we book tee times before we get there? I tried emailing the golf club but never got a response from them. Thanks
It used to be 2 free rounds for a 7 night stay, however I see it advertised as only 1 round per person on many sites. We always get 2 free rounds no matter what it usually says. I don't believe you can get tee-times till 60 days out. Send an email to the golf club with your request when your within this time frame. They should get back to you within a day or two. We'll be there in May as well, and golfing!

I have been having a hard time trying to contact anyone over at the grand via email. Is there a different email that is used to contact them. I would like to customize my room and mini-bar before I arrive but I have no idea how to do this via their site or even when I email them.
This site won't allow email addresses in responses. If you cannot connect with them prior to your arrival, your butler's are usually very good and fulfilling requests.
