Ancient buildings, lovely courtyards, super pool (not heated). In a convenient peaceful location about 15 to 20 min drive to the coast. Friendly, helpful staff. Our room was delightful with a spacious bathroom which urgently needs an extractor fan for ventilation, (due to severe condensation). We had a stable type door/window which could be opened but then lost privacy... We were... More

Very quiet and tucked away. Very peaceful in a lovely backdrop of the hills. You'll need a car but this is a perfect spot to visit some of the lovely local places. Hotel was nice and clean, breakfast was good and the accommodation ( we stayed in the little house) was very comfortable. It has a mezzanine main bedroom so... More

We spend 7 nights at Sa Galera and enjoyed every minute. Very peaceful surroundings, very clean, good beds and nothing missing at the breakfast table. The chef deserves a thumbs up, too. Just don't expect the same for lunch - here you can just have a sandwich. Thanks to very friendly staff we had a great week. (And thanks to... More

Lovely setting, friendly staff, peaceful part of the island. Stayed here a few times over the past 15 years or so and it continues to deliver what we want from a summer break - simple, relaxing and re-energising. If you want immediate, buzzy, in your face service, this isn't for you; it is laid back, under-stated and calming. But the... More

We booked this hotel based on a friend's recommendation and were quite happy with the choice. You need your own transport as it's a bit of a drive to the beach. We had dinner at their restaurant one night and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food.

Beautiful place, very tranquil and relaxing. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, the service discrete but friendly and the food was good. It was everything I needed it to be. With the rural location you do need a car to get around but the roads are well maintained and clearly signed so it's no problem! I had a lovely holiday!

This hotel is having an identity crisis. I wouldn't call it a hotel, but rather a guest house. I've been three times now, and probably won't return. The setting is very lovely - immaculate gardens and pool. It is on a stud farm, so is quite agricultural, which I like. It's quiet and relaxing. But the lack of a managerial... More

This hotel could be so good, with not a lot of effort, but it lacks any real management, and has little personality. It's in a lovely setting, though, with a nice terrace, and a good pool area. When we arrived, the man at the desk (is he the manager, he hasn't introduced himself during any of our three stays?), asked... More

A well converted finca within easy reach of the coast yet in the heart of the peaceful countryside. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and we had a good welcome. We enjoyed two nights in a spotless superior room with nothing but the sound of birdsong. If there was any negative comment it would be the food but it... More

Be very careful if you book to stay here. It is advertised as 5 star but run on the lines of a guest house at 5 star prices. Very under staffed, just one girl doing everything at any one time, the girl who signed us in was then serving dinner then breakfast!. The breakfast is good but dinner always the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sa Galera is an ancient Majorcan manor which dates from the 13th century. It is surrounded by an amazing natural environment. The estate has been recently restored and turned into a wonderful hotel. In our search for quality and comfort, we have made an effort to respect the estate’s own style, taking lovingly care of every single detail.Sa Galera is the name of one of the seven fiefdoms into which the Kingdom of Majorca was divided by King Jaume I when he conquered the island to the Moors. D. Nuño Sanz ran the estate which housed the most important cavalry corps in the island. Its fertile fields were full of vineyards, almond trees and carob trees. Today the estate has over 5000 almond trees and houses one of the most important Pure Majorcan horse breeding centres. The Bonet-Company family have been the estate owners since 1850 and have personally participated in the restoration of the manor . They have been deeply concerned in keeping the original framework and have finally come up with a very nice and comfortable hotel with twenty rooms, each and every one of them with a character of its own. The estate is very well located in an amazing privileged environment where you will enjoy a unique and relaxing quietness, away from crowded tourist areas. Nevertheless its location will allow you to easily reach many interesting spots such as the nearest village Ca’s Concos , the towns of Santanyí and Felanitx , as well as the modern marinas of Cala D’Or and Porto Petro. And since it is located in the southwest coast of the island there are many wonderful beaches at close range, specially the beautiful beaches of Cala Mondragó and S’Amarador, which are Specially Protected Natural Areas. ... more   less
