Very nice location at the beach, a bit remote, no restaurants in walking distance, beach was not crowded end of August.
Rooms a bit aged, beds good. Service mentality could be improved throughout the hotel, at breakfast (good) and at frontdesk. Wireless lan is extremely tedious, we had to log on hundreds of times and in most cases not successfully.

I spent for business one night at the Thalazur hotel in port Camargue. At reception there was some fuzz as I received a card for a room that turned out to be occupied already. Furthermore it was clear that use of the pool was not included in the already steep price, and would cost €9 per day, which to me seemed a rip-off. Rooms, although not very spacious, were nicely furnished and had good beds. Personnel was friendly, and breakfast in the top floor restaurant did meet 4**** standards.

Location is right on beach at end of marina road. So car is essential for getting around, but you need a car anyway in this part of France - it's not the Côte d'Azur with its excellent public transport.

One unusual aspect of the design of the hotel was the balcony / room size. Previous reviewer said the "the rooms were small" - of course, this opinion is relative, but if you look at photos of the hotel the balcony is small. However, the rooms go off at an angle to the balcony, giving, what was to us, a normal European sized room. The design objective is to give most of the hotel's rooms a sea view. A good, practical design, but it doesn't do the hotel any favours in the brochure.

Staff were excellent throughout the hotel, especially reception, and room service. Food was good over the four days we stayed there, breakfasts were above average, some dinner menu ingredients were below average ( i.e. poor quality lamb chops ), but the chefs did an excellent job in preparation and presentation. Our only real negative point was the staff in the restaurant, who worked liked crazy; there seems to be a race to clear tables; then setting for lunch at breakfast; then setting for breakfast at dinner.... Hang on to your belongings, food and wine - avoid leaving the table once you get one!

We didn't use the Thalassa Centre, so no comment on it.

Overall, a first rate, comfortable hotel. We would recommend it to anyone.

10 days of Thalasso

Thalasso - limited services, compared to others we have been to. But friendly staff.

Services - Very friendly and efficient staff.

Room - Not good at all. Way too small and cold design. The hotel owners do not want to spend any money in renovation, probably. The hotel photo is totally misleading on Accor's website. The hotel looks isolated: in fact, it is in the middle of concrete!

Food - An amazing buffet on Sunday nights. The rest of the time, very good too.

The place - Boring. Nothing to see and to do in the city itself. But, you can hire a driver to visit the Camargue. The hotel can arrange that very well.

The so called private beach was not that private and the sun beds were 15€ each/day. If you want to swim in the pool, bring a pair of speedos otherwise you will not be allowed. The pool area also looked like a prison with no view of the beach what so ever. Really do not recommend this place.

Dear Victor M, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. In France, on every private beach you have to pay for the sun bathing chair. I'm surprise on your remark. In that true in ours swimmings pools for agent matter we ask our guest to wear speedo. As you can read in our description we have on panoramic sea view restaurant but nowhere written our indoor swimming pool has got a sea view. We wish you an wonderful day, Sincerely,

We stayed here recently (November 2014) and it was rather dissapointing. We booked the hotel because we needed a break - away from everyday things - so we booked a hotel with some spa facilities and, since we like to swim, a pool. Sadly that (indoor) pool was not included in the standard price, we had to pay a whopping €30 per day on top. Per person...

With swimming out of scope our focus was on the area, which is quite nice. The beach is perfect for a stroll, watch the kite-surfers go and do what they do, and the nature is lovely. Without a car we would be lost though, we were lucky there.

Back to the hotel then; I have to add that the guests were extremely friendly, something the staff weren't. Take a lesson there. Upon arrival the receptionist was going to tell us the spa-possibilities. We're still waiting for them.

The breakfast, a whopping €16 per person, was a turn-off. I don't mind paying that when the choices are vast or the food is extremely good. It was neither of both. The view from the restaurant on the bay was beautiful though so that counts for something.

The rooms are reasonably well equiped and tidy. The view we had on the sea was nice but the balcony had seen its best days.

I wouldn't recommend it.

P.S.: finding the place is quite a daunting task too, one time we spent 45' finding it :)

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel with my family (we were 4, 2 adults + 2 young kids of 3 years and 6 months old).
We had a great time, the staff is very friendly and helpful. From the reception to spa staff, pool safety to the cleaning team, all were very nice and ready to help for any query.
The rooms are clean, good arranged and comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful and if you wish you can get a continental version served in your room for no extra cost! Breakfasting on the balcony of your own room is really nice and enjoyable especially when you want to take it easy during the holidays!
The beach is about 100 meters away and they have a restaurant on the beach, you can also rent umbrella + lying chairs there.
The beach and sea is clean, with lot of fishes along the reef, lot of fishers go there.
Beach is a bit windy like everywhere in this area, great for kite with the kids.
The outside pool is not big but enough for kids.
There are not many restaurants at walking distance but within 5 minutes by car you find everything.
A great place for a small trip is Aigues-Mortes.
We will go again to this hotel.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of an otherwise wonderful trip to France. We were disappointed.

The lack of flexibility on check in (4pm) was an issue, as it is such a long way from anything and if you don't drive (as we weren't on that trip) then that means trying to kill time in the nearby town or trying to get served in the beach restaurant until your room is ready.

We tried both of these approaches, with little success. We were more or less ignored in the hotel's restaurant on the beach, with one waitress being really amazingly rude and contemptuous. We found the town centre tacky, with little of the charm that we had found everywhere a little further up the coastline.

The beachfront itself is fine and the waiters were at least polite. The same cannot be said in the spa. For some inexplicable reason men can only go into the pool or spa wearing speedos - regular swimming shorts are forbidden. Given that the spa is a selling point of the hotel you might be tempted to fork out E30 for some acceptable shorts. Don't bother, it is disappointing and the staff condescending and rude. They don't try to explain why this no-shorts rule exists and make you feel like an imbecile if you question it. The spa water is so salty that I immediately started to feel actually uncomfortable; not a relaxing experience.

The redeeming feature is the restaurant with decent food and really lovely views of dozens of kite surfers as the sun sets. We ate there twice as there was no alternative nearby that looked palatable.

We generally thought the hotel was overpriced and when we tried to convey some of the above at check out we were brushed off.

Friendly staff. The superior room with terrace and great view was very nice. NIce lunchrestaurant on the beach. Food at the top-floor dinner restaurant was not excellent, but ok.

The hotel is located on the beach, nothing much else aroud here, but great place if you want to stay away from all the noise and tourists.
