#2 of 6 hotels in Pine Knoll Shores
The Hotel Atlantic Beach in North Carolina is situated across the street from the beach access to the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent to the Country Club of the Crystal Coast. The central location of the property makes this hotel the perfect place for work, play or both. Pine Knoll Shores Hotel are also convenient to several historic towns and cities, museums and outdoor activities. The Hotel Atlantic Beach is four- stories and boast 109 well-appointed over-sized rooms. Tucked behind native Live Oaks, the property and guests can't be easily seen by passerby's. This is a fantastic hotel! They are nearly done with their renovation which did not affect our stay at all. This hotel is centrally located near the best restaurants and attractions of Atlantic Beach. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. Highest praise to the staff who were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Special recognition of fine service to Kevin, Susan, Maureen, Wendy, Judy and Nichy. They met our every need with smiles. Superb hotel at a superb price with a superb staff.

We picked this hotel because it had better ratings even though it was overpriced. The only good thing I can say was the room size and location. The staff I did not find friendly or welcoming other then the housekeeping supervisor. After it pouring down rain I come in to find the room that is supposed to be sanitized and sealed had a bug when we opened the pullout and the a nasty spot on the pillow. Behind the sofa another big and in the closet a huge cockroach ...ewwwhhh. So they said they had just had extermination.. ok when? So I was moved to another room it was better but still stained carpet and entire room needs a refresh. I think Hilton can do better. Then the checkout is 11 and they can only extend to 12. So I asked yet they never communicated to housekeeping...so knock knock! So I asked Nikki at the desk don’t u think as a courtesy you should extend some type of credit for us having to move to another room. She says to me a credit for what, we moved you! Wow... this is why I stay Marriott. I wasn’t looking for my bill to be paid but something to say sorry for your inconvenience. You may as well go to a cheap hotel as you aren’t getting customer service, no late checkout, an awful bag breakfast, a 2* room, and extra unwanted guests in your room

Understanding fear of the virus has changed how many businesses are operated, our recent C- experience was not entirely due to the virus. Issues encountered: *Luggage cart was sticky. Has anyone considered the importance of keeping these guest carts sanitary? *The bathroom fan had to be the cheapest model available—it was so loud that we could not operate it while in the room. *Someone’s hair tie fell out of the “clean” towel when it was taken down from the bathroom towel rack. How did that ever get there? *There was adequate lighting in both the room and corridor; however, the wattage was so low that the hallway was dim even during the day, making it look dark and dingy like a cheap no-tell motel. We had to keep all the room lights on at night. *Twice we went to the front desk with questions and no one was there. I had to seek out an employee in an adjacent office. *The ceiling above the window had what appeared to be mold. *In order to limit seating in the lobby, furniture was grouped together and taped off with caution tape such as what police might use around a crime scene. It just didn’t send a welcoming message. Why isn’t the excess furniture placed in the unused conference room? *The front panel of the HVAC unit was broken, exposing dirt and dust. *The corridor smelled of stale cooking and/or cooking. *The tub drain was extremely slow in emptying. On the positive side: There was an adequate number of towels. Most Hilton hotels we have encountered as of late chinch on the number. The bedsheets and pillows were comfortable.

We arrived on July 6th for a quick anniversary getaway. I must say the proximity to the beautiful beach was awesome! After checking in and running to take a quick walk along the beach, I returned to our room to take a quick shower before dinner. I jumped in the shower and to my displeasure there was bunches of hair in a tub that clearly had not been cleaned! I must admit that I was furious! Due to the current COVID climate I like to think that we are paying for a clean room. Which was certainly not the case. There was even a seal on all of the doors to indicate that the rooms had been properly cleaned and sanitized. I immediately called the front desk and we were moved to another room. Of course at this point it was difficult to recapture our festive mood. I spoke to someone the next day and expressed our displeasure and the damper that was put on our 2nd Anniversary celebration. I showed her the pictures and she told us that she would look into it. Upon checking out we noticed that we were given a 50% discount for our first night’s stay. Not quite the compensation I had in mind considering current Covid situation, but it was better than nothing.

The rooms included a sofa bed and kitchenette. This was nice bc there were not many restaurants with outside seating and only a few had indoor seating in this covid environment, just take out. The cross walk to the beach was great, most cars stopped right away when we pressed the button. The pool area was unkempt with the same wet towels and hair ties laying around for days and one of the lamps was broken and covered with a plastic bag. Only 5 ppl were permitted in the pool, but this was not policed. The lights were all turned off in the lobby, so it felt like the hotel was closed. We are low key and made the best of it, but the worst part was when we found two roaches in our room next to our night stand before bed!
