We were expecting a "mountain hut" so imagine our surprise when we arrived at Rifugio Sapienza on Mount Etna and had a lovely room with fridge, wifi and hairdryer and lots of warm water from the shower.

We drove up on our own to Rifugio Sapienza. We went up the cable car and the bus service all the way to the top craters and it was very worthwhile. We walked around the newer crater from the 2002 eruption - and it was amazing
