We stayed here for a couple of nights for a family wedding in the area and couldn't have chosen a prettier and more restful place to stay. Trying to get my family organised was like herding cats but Penny was endlessly patient with our changing room requirements and with providing vegan breakfasts at short notice. The countryside around Brook Farmhouse is gorgeous and the house itself is nestled into the hillside and beautifully decorated with lots of homely touches. We had fresh flowers from the garden in every room in late October and the homemade apple juice at breakfast was worth the trip alone!
You could not hope to find a more comfortable, cozy place to stay. Breakfast was delicious, the rooms were wonderful and the hosts Penny and Paul could not have done more to be helpful and welcoming. We spent one night relaxing in front of a roaring fire in our own sitting room - the whole experience was perfect!
Brook Farm House is a beautiful, very old home, and our hosts Penny and Paul were as friendly and accommodating as can be. The location is very quiet, the breakfast is top notch, the coffee equally. They both went out of their way to be helpful. My wife and I highly recommend staying here.
The place is a lovely thatched farm house. The narrow lanes to get to the place are a little bit of a challenge. We seemed to meet just about all of the local farmers in tractors on route. Although on most days the road was pretty quiet to get in and out. Some of the local roads were even narrower and with very limited passing places. Plenty of parking and could just turn round in the car park to make it easier to get out. Warmly welcomed on arrival with tea and cake. With a small person in tow it was not the easiest room to access through a low narrow door and up a steep spiral staircase. The room itself was large with a huge bed and plenty of space to hang clothes. Fresh fruit and flowers in the room as well which was a nice touch. Small bathroom with bath and over bath shower - always nice for a hot shower in the morning. Breakfast was pretty good. Fresh fruit, yoghurts and toast and jam/ marmalade. We've had better cooked breakfasts, but it was ok. The bacon was a little dry. Fresh eggs were always nice particularly poached. Scrambled eggs sometimes a little too wet. Overall an enjoyable break in a location that allowed us to tour Devon. We would certainly consider returning should we want to visit that part of the world again. …
