I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions over the years but found my last visit very disappointing my wife asked for a fried egg for breakfast which was included in our stay only to be told there would be an extra cost we have never encountered this with 4* hotels. Also there was a flea problem in the room only to be told at checkout “ these things happen”…
We visited Santarem as we had a spare day on our road trip and picked this location. We had planned to visit the old town but when we arrived at the hotel we found it had everything to offer for a comfortable stay and decided to just use the hotel's facilities for our overnight stay. There is a free carpark. This hotel is massive and the entrance is grand to say the least. The reception staff were pleasant and informative. We booked a room with river view but the wonderful surprise was that it also had a view of the amazing swimming pool and alfresco area and the hills. The room was gorgeous with the biggest king sized bed I have ever seen. There was a mini bar and the aircon worked well. There were many Engish TV channels and the wifi was very good. The ensuite was large with a bath tub. The breakfast was plentiful with a lot of choices. The dinner in the restaurant was great value and the service was excellent. The hotel is well decorated and well maintained. There did not appear to be any renovations taking place. We would definitely recommend this hotel.…
Good surprise. The hotel is a 4 stars (and the experience confirmed it) in a renovation process. All of the group 4 bedrooms were excellent in terms of bathroom, sizes, beds and design. We were put in the same floor which also helps the experience. The amenities and facilities were also very good: large and good swimming pool very well positioned, very good views and landscapes (the pool bar was not open). The lobby bar was largely used, the breakfast was good and all the staff was very friendly. Will recommend it. …
Nice enough rooms ,bit old needs an upgrade but comfortable.the staff are very freindly .plenty of hot water! The pool is lovely in the warmer weather and its a gorgeous veiw.sad as last visit there was work going on in the next room, drilling at 9am but as i complained they knocked room service costs off and appologized so cant say much fairer than that.definately will stay again…
This was a last minute booking as we were driving across Portugal and wanted to make it to a major city for the night. The hotel staff was very welcoming, parking was simple. Getting to the room was not so simple. We got up to the room to find the key didn't work, which happens, so left the BF waiting to go back down to get it re-keyed. When I got back up and the key worked, we found the room had not been cleaned with the bed sheets strewn about and towels everywhere. We gathered everything and went back down to the front desk. The gentlemen working there was obviously embarrassed and kept apologizing. Again, it happens, we were just so tired at this point, we just wanted to take a load off and have a drink. We got a new room and walked in and the BF remarked "Oh look, Flintstone beds". This room had two separate full/twin beds that we just moved together, dropped our gear and went to the bar. (the unmade room had a queen bed). We had dinner at the restaurant, waitstaff was friendly, food was good, decent bottle prices. Breakfast was good too, with a nice spread. The restaurant in the hotel. "Taberna do Quinzena," also has a sister location in the city. .…
