This place is ok and one of only two acceptable hotels in town. The rooms are dark and a bit dingy but comfortable and large. Good breakfast and the staff were friendly. Great town to visit. The area doesn't have much to offer but you can walk uphill to town or easily get a taxi. Rooms are in serious need of renovation.…
We stayed in the Hotel Umu when in Santarem for a sports event. We travelled as a large group. The staff were very good helpful and friendly. The hotel is basic but served our purpose very well. We would all stay here again.
A nice and simple Hotel, properly renewed this place is a very good option to stay. The breakfast is reasonable and the service is nice. One detail is the water supply, the maintenance should try to have more pressure, it's difficult to take a confortable bath.
Well you can't judge by the title but it's an ok hotel if you have a car but not if on the Camino as it's a bit far from the Plaza. However I enjoyed the old town first and then moved on to the hotel which is in a residential area in the modern side of town. The staff in small hotels need to learn some people skills as quite a few of us are pilgrims on the Camino and could do without the frosty officious greeting and mandatory passport please... A nice hi how are you and have a seat would be a good start after walking at least 30km a day in hot weather. The room was a decent size but the bathroom was a bit odd with a half size bath with a shower. It flooded the floor area around the toilet which is not pleasant! It needs updating with dual control taps as getting the shower temperature right was a pain. There are 3 plug sockets next to each other low down on the wall but only 2 are usable unless you are a local due to the size of adapters not being factored in! The service lift makes a groaning noise which is only quiet at night. There's a modernist bar in reception for drinks and Tapas but no restaurant. Breakfast was surprisingly good with excellent breads, jams, scrambled eggs, ham, cheese & cakes. Coffee & hot water are in urns so ask for fresh hot water for a decent brew. …
We stayed one night in a refurbished room, clean, spacious, amazing air conditioner, very nice sunblind. Free parking, free WiFi. Breakfast with nice fresh food but bad coffee. 20 min walk to the center but you can park for free behind the bus station.
