Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We traveled to Queensland for our family holiday in March 2011. All in total we had 4 families staying at Sailfish Cove. Upon arrival all our rooms were not ready to check in, which was ok and went shopping. 2 Hours later still 1 of 4 rooms was still not ready (this was 2 hours after check in time) and there was one cleaner working while another was sitting on the sofa drinking (alcohol).
1st night there was unforgettable, our units were opposite the managers unit where they were having a party that night. usual party noise was no great concern but when one of the families went out to their car they found it had been smashed, jumped upon by an underage drinker from the party. (see pic attached), the scary part about this is that the managers knew of this 1 hour prior of us finding out about and failed to contact us about it and seeing the damage that was done why they even failed to call the police.
So alot of crap from us contacting police (which when they arrived told us this area is known for this kind of trouble) insurance companies as well as organizing a rental car for the family involved, basically saw our first 2 days of our holidays stuck on telephones, in offices and waiting for police and tow trucks to sort this mess out. Also over the 10 days of our stay we came across another 2 families where their cars had been broken into over night.
We finally got things sorted out did the normal family holiday stuff over the next 8 days.
Our room was decent, plenty of room but the appliances were so outdated. The resort pools were used alot by our families but maintenance is greatly over looked with many things in and around the pool area needed some attention.
Security gates are present but only worked for half of our holiday and then remained open at all times so why bother having them, also a security guard is present in the night times but only allowed to do what he is told by the managers.
The location of Sailfish Cove is ok but only if you have a car to get around in.
Sadly what could of been a excellent holiday for our 4 families turned out below average and i can confidently say i will not be ever staying there again.

I found Sailfish Cove by purchasing a accommodation voucher on ebay. It had the cheapest rate for up to 6 people (there are 5 of us) for 7 nights - $650 for a 3 bedroom apartment. I couldn't even get that for a onsite cabin at a tourist park!

The reception staff are lovely and helpful. Offered us a second set of keys if we required them. Also offered some help with things to do and where to go shopping etc.

The unit itself, whilst a little dated in its decor and furnishings, is perfectly acceptable. Our unit probably needed a new coat of paint, but it's the same as my house so I don't care!! LOL! Everything is provided in terms of dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, all cooking and eating utensils. The only complaint with the kitchen I had was the little oven which didn't really cook too well.

There is a air con on the ground floor and ceiling fans in every room. The beds were a little on the hard side, but you can't please everyone with that sort of thing.

We stayed for a week and had no dramas with any residents, the pools are great and clean, and the spa is just heavenly!

Location wise is about 20 minutes from the theme parks, 15 minutes from surfers paradise. Shopping centres are close by, either Robina or Pacific Fair. A car is advisable.

Will definately be looking to stay here again, such great value for money!

My partner was initially phased by the distance from the beach but as soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed and felt instantly at home. We arrived on the Friday and over the weekend became aware that the DVD player was not working, we notified staff at reception on Monday and they came and checked it and immediately purchased a new player for our unit. We became very familiar with the pools as our sons are 6 and 8 and most of the time we were the only ones using them and they were sparkling clean. We were also very close to Pacific Fair, the casino, Robina Shopping centre (very nice) and only 20 mins from the theme parks. Our unit was very clean and as we stayed for 3 weeks our linen was changed each week. The unit faced the canal and we had a jetty close by which was constantly fascinating for our sons who did some fishing and caught some! The birds that frequented the canal were also quite fascinating especially the swans and the pelicans. Overall our family had a great time and we recommend this facility to all families.

I found this place from a man selling holiday accommodation at my local market.Sounded good at the time. What a mistake! This place is a dump!Everything is very dirty and needs a good clean. Alot of things broken or not working at all.I booked two townhouses for myself and my family for one week from 10 March 2012.Was not happy at all and let the office staff know. Will not be returning, and will not be recomending this place to anyone.

Totally Disappointed!! We stayed here 2 years ago & thought it was wonderful, this time round we brought extras with us and talked up how great it was. I have never been so embarrassed & disgusted, I couldn't believe how the units had deteriorated & how run down they were in such a short time, if there weren't so many of us we would have left!! I bought this to the attention of the manager even doing a walk through to point out how bad things were, dishwasher not working, I opened a door & it fell on off hinges & how dirty & run down, his answer was the units are privately owned & up to owners to maintain up keep of maintence. I ended up cleaning the unit as it was filthy, every time I used the kettle it tripped out power, no broom or vacuum, dishwasher didn't work ( they replaced this) I went to BIg W & bought a kettle, a dona for each of the beds as bedspreads were that worn & filthy, I borrowed broom from other family staying..out of the 4 units we rented only one was decent although it did need a good clean as well... I have photographic proof if you would like to up date your website with what your accomodation really looks like.. Very disappointed...

Our family admittedly got a ' deal ' to stay here when we arrived the house allotted to us was big and on he canal, but the place was run down, dirty, holes in the walls, it reminded me of a bad student house. No matter what the price ( and it wasn't that cheap ) this place was a disgrace, bottom line, do not stay here.

To anyone planning on staying at this dump, DON'T. No pay telly, only local free to air channels. Office only open 9 to 5 Mon - Fri,. Bad luck if you need something outside of these hours. Staff at reception rude as. Permanent residents also very rude, Most unwelcoming. Made to feel like we shouldn't be there. Large black ants everywhere in unit, even in the beds. NO PHONE in unit. Unheard of. Phone at reception out of order. Bad luck if you have an emergency. Loud alcohol fuelled rif raf partying till the early hours. Couldn't sleep. Rubbish strewn all over the place from previous nights partying. Couldn't use pool because of intimidation by local residents. In summing up, the worst time of our lives.

Was great until the new management, now the hot tub is always cold, the rates are being put up and the amount of chlorine in the pools seems to hurt my skin every time i swim.

Body corp went from being open all day to a couple of hours a day. Seems the new management just want to be lazy and save money, a shame as previously I was very happy.

We only stayed at this complex because we were playing a tennis tournament nearby, but soon after arriving we found the whole apartment to be in a dilapidated state.
There were cracks in the walls and holes in the walls. The walls were smeared in some splashes of some sort of liquids I'd hate to think about.
The kitchen floor was a disgrace. My kids were jumping over the "sticky bit" to get to the fridge. It was grotty !!!
The television did work, but to watch it you'd have to sit on the most lumpy uncomfortable mess of a lounge I'd ever had the displeasure of sitting on.
Meanwhile the beds were uncomfortable, the air conditioning wouldn't work and the hot water was completely unreliable.
My kids hated the place. I just thought it was a disgusting grotty mess.

Booked this before reading reviews - I was horrified on what was said. but the location suited my families sporting advent. Turned out to be pleasure LARGE, clean and did everything we wanted it to do. Will be back for next years cycling event.
Loved the out door spar.
