We loved everything about this place, the location, the unit, the views. The unit was modern and clean. The facilities were excellent and we were able to step right out onto the beach or sit back on the balcony and watch the surfers.

One of the best positions on the Gold Coast. We stayed in unit 802 on the 8th floor in a two bedroom unit. The views from all rooms were to die for. The proximity to the beach, well it's almost on the beach!! The recently renovated unit was very comfortable with all the mod cons. The managers are very friendly and helpful. The pool and BBQ area was an extra bonus and always kept very clean. There is a bus directly outside the property that will take you north or south and it comes about every five minutes. The airport is a $10 cab ride away. The local shops are a ten minute walk and the best fish and chips/ hamburger cafe is next door. No need to hire a car! Am planning on coming back to have a front row seat to watch the whales swim by!

We stayed in the resort for one week from just after Christmas 2014 until January the 3rd 2015. We were in unit 501 which is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit situated on the 5th floor. The unit has expansive beautiful views North to Surfers Paradise and a partial view South to Coolangatta. From the back balconies the Gold Coast hinterland is visible. Two outdoor chairs and a coffee table are available on the front balcony and these are in average condition and offer average comfort. Complex is absolute beachfront so it is a five second walk and you are on the beach. Great public transport runs close by also with a brilliant local bus service.
The unit is spacious and in fairly good condition although the kitchen in the not to distant future may need a refurbish. The unit has one split system air conditioner which does a good job of cooling the living area but does not help you in either of the bedrooms so these can get quite hot and stuffy in summertime although there are some nice breezes that can at times come through the unit. Some corrosion on door locks made locking the doors a bit difficult but this is a problem caused by the salt air and spray. The unit is in close proximity to the Coolangatta airport and planes can be noisy although you tend to blank them out after a while. Between about 11pm and 6am there is hardly any aircraft noise. We found the unit to be unclean when we arrived. The dishwasher had pieces of fish caught in the filter and these were quite old and smelly so I cleaned it out and the problem was solved. Most of the crockery and cutlery in the unit had to be rewashed by us before using it as it was covered in a layer of oil or grease so I don't think it was washed up well by a previous user. When we sat on one of the lounges to watch TV there was a lump under the cushion and when we looked there was a broken kids plastic slinky under the cushion along with food crumbs etc so to us this would indicate that more care needs to be taken by the housekeeping staff when cleaning up between customers.
Patrolled high quality swimming beaches are about 500 metres away in both directions. The resort has great facilities with a great outdoor pool and BBQ area plus inside at basement level is a spa, plunge pool, sauna, games room and gym and you have secure undercover parking for one vehicle per unit. Each floor is serviced by a speedy lift. Good laundry facilities are in the second bathroom of the unit. There is a spa bath tub in the ensuite bathroom.
The managers are lovely folk who look after the place really well and they will go out of their way to help you out. I am sure on reading this that they will make note of the issues I have included.
Price is average for this area and a little bit cheaper than the local competition but this will vary depending on what season you are going to be staying there.
Shops are close by at Tugun itself and the larger stores like Kmart etc are close also at Ellanora and or Coolangatta/Tweed Heads.
So in conclusion this is a good review with a couple of areas that need some improvement, with the good outweighing the bad. That said I would not accept the cleanliness issues again so I would hope these are resolved for future visitors. This is a lovely section of the Gold Coast and one we have been staying at for over 30 years now. I am sure you will have a good holiday.

It has been around 12 years since i had stayed at this resort and the place has not changed a bit. Room was very outdated and not very clean. Such a shame as the view is magnificent. Will not be staying here again.

+1
The positive: Great location on the beach, fantastic views, pay tv, spacious unit, good lounge and kitchen. Not a fabric lounge which is great in units. Great spa in the room.
The pool is DEEP! So take a floatie for your kids and yourself unless you are 6 foot tall. It is pretty much a big Lap plunge pool. Great for a swim after the beach.
Some things to note:
No AC in the rooms we had so they become absolute saunas as you can't open the windows due to the noise. Not to mention safety if you have kids.
No shower in the ensuite. There is a spa which is good but the shower is in the laundry/bathroom. Was a little strange. But a spa is great to also have.
The games room could do with a couple of extra things. Maybe a pin ball, air hockey or arcade machine. It was a very clean space.
The rooms was a little tired but that is expected in the area.
Be great to have AC and a TV in the main room for the parents. That would be a treat.
We would come back. We will be checking to see if a room has AC first. Great family getaway. On the beach and make sure you get a Maries Pizza!!

After spending 2 nights at Pelican Sands during our long Australia vacation, I recommend this place 100%. It was comfortable, clean, convenient, and quiet. It was nice to have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for the 3 of us. Even though it rained most of the time, we thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful and restful accommodations. We could stare at the ocean forever! Leslie, the manager, was nice, courteous and helpful with all our requests.

The location is great for a young family, very quiet beach, the flagged areas are a 10 minute walk either North or South. There is a little convenience store 2 doors down which has most things you would need. If looking for a breakfast or dinner out you would need to head further away towards either Kirra or Tugun.
The Room on the 8th floor was big enough for 4 adults and a toddler and having the elevator helped to unload and load luggage. The pool, spa, plunge pool and bbq area were clean. The unit was very tired and badly in need of a refurb, don't think it has been touched since originally built. The single bed in second room was broken, we told management the next day but nothing was offered to replace the bed base so adult daughter ended up sleeping on the mattress on the floor. Not a good option for the price we paid for accommodation. They did exchange the chair on the balcony that was broken. The overall cleanliness of the unit was good except under the lounges which didn't get vacumned. One of the keys didn't work and advised them but they never followed up we didn't want to keep bothering them over Christmas.
We would stay again but would check which unit was booking.
Thanks Leslie for a good family holiday on the beach.

Stayed in a penthouse suite. positives- large unit. wonderful view, nice pool, good bbq .area., bathrooms had been renovated, Negatives- biggest negative for me was the dire need of a thorough cleaning. Dirty windows to that magnificent ocean view, smeared mirrors, dusty fans, bugs in light fixtures , stains on rugs, dirty closets, spots on couches , spider webs on inside of bathroom window, and a fishy smell in the pantry. This place has so much potential-but the three stars I rated it are just based on the location and grounds/common areas.

We stayed her e for 6 nights over Christmas 2015. The apartment on level 6 was fantastic.
The views are sensational. The air conditioned unit was very clean with two bathrooms, a must when you have 4 people.
The linen and towels are very good quality.
The grounds are immaculate with the swimming pool and an indoor spa and pool also
.
Yes the planes fly over but this is great to watch and not a worry to us.
Our grandchildren visited us and didn't want to leave. They have a box full of beach toys for the children to use at the beach also.
You can walk straight on to the beach which is great for children with no roads to cross.
There is a small grocery and takeaway food store next door or you can go for a 15 minute walk to the Tugun village.
There is everything available there from supermarket to liquor store and good takeaway shops.
Leslie was so welcoming from the time I spoke with her when booking. So helpful and happy.
Thank you for hospitality
We will be back here again for sure.
Cheers
Lorelle

Hi,
Can't help with the unit availability part of your question but I do know the complex has a decent sized covered BBQ area at ground level with ocean views which can cater for a fair sized group. You would probably have to get approval from the onsite managers about a birthday party as the BBQ area is very close to the pool and some lower level units so I am guessing they would require you to just keep it a bit under control for noise etc. We were just there for New Years Eve and it was good. The Managers are decent folk so it would be worth contacting them and discussing what you want to do. The dates you are asking for will have you leaving the day the school holidays start so that may work in your favor as at school holidays the place is very popular and nearly always full. Good Luck with your search.
