We stayed here for 4 nights, partly for a conference nearby. The location was great and quiet with nice parks nearby. Whilst the place is a little dated, the King bed was fantastic and pool view was nice. Only downside was that the pool was open till 10pm with kids running riot so that was an issue. Cocktails and snacks were great but food at the restaurant was average so suggest drive down to Broadbeach for a nice meal. The drive there is very direct. We will def come back as it was good value.

Hotel's Favourite
We recently spent a week on the Gold Coast, finally able to get out of Canberra for a decent family holiday. Our first stop was the Mercure for four days before moving closer to the coast, and we could not have been happier with everything the hotel had to offer. Our clean and spacious rooms overlooked the Palm Meadows golf course, providing a sense of being in the embrace of a tranquil oasis. Because the sun rises earlier in Queensland than our home in Canberra in the summer, and I am an early riser, I took a few pre-breakfast strolls around the holes nearest the hotel as dawn was breaking, fishing for balls in the course waterways and stopping occasionally to watch the marine, air and ground wildlife blissfully go about their important business. My wife, and two teenage children are rarely up so early but they also enjoyed sitting on the balcony during the day to watch the golfers or just absorb the serenity. The highlight of our stay was definitely the daily breakfast buffet, which provided for every taste, sweet or savoury, in plentiful quantities, enough to satisfy hunger for the rest of the day if you so chose. Every morning our daughter would message my wife and I from her room, ‘Breakfast?’, and the three of us would meet to start the day. Our 16 yo son wasn’t quite so enthusiastic because (a) he only gets up early if he absolutely has to and (b) he’s not a breakfast person! I would have already been to the restaurant for a couple of early coffees from the coffee machine by the time my wife and daughter joined me, a chance to contemplate the coming day and catch up on the overnight news. Whether on breakfast duty, at reception or throughout other areas of the hotel, the staff were accommodating, efficient and polite. They made our stay uncomplicated and easy to manage. As well as the excellent rooms and sumptuous food, the hotel pool and fitness centre cater for those who just want to relax or need an adrenalin hit. The pool is spacious and the water was crystal clear during our stay, while the gym has a good range of cardio and weights machines and free weights. For golfers, the Palm Meadows championship course effectively surrounds the hotel. My son and I played a round during the stay and were both throughly challenged by the layout. I even fulfilled my promise to him that we could ride a cart instead of walking. Under the Queensland sun walking 18 holes is a challenge even for even a fit young athlete like my son, and definitely for someone like me who is not quite as fit as he used to be in his sporting prime. Overall, our stay at the Mercure was the perfect beginning of our Queensland odyssey and we would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I recently spent 8 days at the Mercure Gold Coast Resort. We had a fabulous time. The staff there were very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were first class and the atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. I would like to single out 3 people in particular who went above and beyond their general duties to ensure that our stay was one we would remember. Monika at reception was exceptional with here attention to detail and general willingness to offer advice. Belinda in the restaurant was always friendly and helpful. Jenny, who cleaned our room, was always cheerful and looked after us just like family. Mercure Gold Coast Resort have three gems!!! I could not fault any staff member. We will back in the future. Highly recommended.

I booked two rooms for 4 adults and 4 children and requested adjoining rooms or for the rooms to be close together but was told that the resort did not have adjoining rooms. Upon arrival we found that our two rooms were in separate buildings and that there were rooms that could be booked side by side with one entrance but we were not given them! The rooms were of a good size, clean and had views of the on site pool. The bedding was comfortable. We had a small fridge and coffee, tea making facilities. We had a balcony with table and chairs which could be used for dining if required. The negative was being on the top floor with no lift so had to do the stairs everyday and with our luggage on check in and out, they will assist you with this if requested. The on site restaurant is very food with good quality food. The breakfast has something for everyone and the food kept at a good temperature. The breakfast staff were excellent and I highly commend them. The pool is clean and heated and there is a small spa. The resort is well placed for those who want to visit all of the family attractions such as Seaworld, Dreamworld, etc. And there are some fast food places near by to keep the kids happy.

The first room had a terrible smell, the second room was very dated artex on the ceiling fridge cupboard doors about to fall off, no bottled water supplied in rooms. Breakfast buffet was quite limited although the staff were friendly enough. I had other colleagues/friends staying at the royal pines resort and it was much more modern and overall better accommodation, it is where i will stay the next time unless the Mercure has been totally rejuvenated.

An excellent holiday ,good accommodation excellent meal services ideal spot to chill out ,close proximity to the world famous Palm Meadows Golf Course and Carrara markets. However they do not provide a shuttle service and it is a major taxi ride to all other Gold Coast attractions.

Our stay at the Mecure Gold Coast was a bit of a mixed bag. We arrived at the the motel and were upgraded (yay). After looking at the reviews we decided that we would stay onsite for dinner which we regretted. We were all pretty hungry from travelling, and despite them having a rather limited menu we all found something that we thought we might like. Both my partner and I ordered meals that had steak, which presented as tough and grey, my daughter ordered a kids gnocchi, the sauce was over reduced and was just concentrated salt and tomato taste, gnocchi overcooked and generally just did not taste at all pleasant, my son did get a parmi and we all had food envy, but in tasting the sauce was not great either. My mother-inlaw did enjoy some salt and pepper squid and another starter, both obviously frozen not fresh. The following morning the buffet was so much better than the food at night, which included fresh melon, and a very big variety, despite the eggs being a bit weird tasting (scrambled potentially powdered?) the selection of pastries we had were good when we ate, but later in our seating there seemed to be a struggle keeping up with the food for patrons. The facilities were good, the pool was heated appropriately and clean. Our children also overheard a DV incident, with a young women screaming from the stairs quite panicked and fearful for a little while, while the hotel cannot be faulted for this, what they could do, is direct when staff are responding to this type of incident to move these types conversations away from echoing loud stairwells, their private conversation was made public and details of the event could be heard being recounted from the rooms. I would also encourage the staff to be better trained in this area as as the conversation was incredibly re-traumatising for all involved, and police intervention is much better to be gained, rather than staff have them, themselves. Takehome message: if you do decide to stay: big rooms, nice pool, go out for dinner and stay for the buffet breakfast, though Broadbeach down the road does have quite a good selection with beach views.

We booked a special anniversary trip away to the Gold Coast, we had a smooth check in and then went to our room 3208, as soon as we opened the door we smelt cigarette smoke. I have asthma and did not want to stay in the room. We called reception and advised them, they said they would send someone, this was at 3pm. We then witnessed at least three rooms outside on the balcony all smoking. despite the hotel saying on the glass door "No Smoking" we then made another 2 calls and they said they were sorting it and trying to find another room. At 4.15pm, i lost my temper and called again and they then sent a Housekeeping rep, who said she could not smell it and offered me some air freshner. I said NO I was waiting for a manager to come along. She showed me a room a floor up, but this was right above the smoking bedroom, i showed he the bottle on the table with the cigarette ends. So she did look at another room which we accepted. When we left o go out a few hours later, there were at least 4 guests smoking on different balconies in Block 3. I find the hotels responce to dealing with smokers terrible. We booked the hotel as it clearly states NO SMOKING and also a reminder that it is against the QLD law to smoke in hotel accommodation. I am more unhappy that the hotel failed to deal with smokers and there were also children on the floors. The only sorry we got was three chocolates out of a hospitality pack. Does not really cut it sorry MERCURE. Ruined weekend. I qued at reception for 5 minutes as we checked out at 11am and gave up or would have raised this.

The facilities have always been great here, especially the size of the gym facilities which now has a gym manager/personal trainer. But what has made this week all the better is the staff in the restaurant and bar service areas. Joao Schiavo, he is one of the managers and there is reason for it, the service and professionalism he displays and the staff around him display is second to none. Always helpful, smiling and seem to really enjoy their roles. Thank you Joao and team for a welcoming week. I will be back.
