Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I booked this place through hotels.com & the moment we arrived I knew it was a very dirty little place, but when we actually opened the door to our room, I realised just how bad it really was. The putrid smell of god knows what hit us. The walls were filthy, the floor had sand all over it, it looked like it had never been cleaned ever since the day it was built, really it was just REVOLTING!! We had our children with us & I really didn’t feel comfortable letting them sleep on the beds, since the linen stunk & had what looked like coffee stains all over them. I kept thinking we would probably catch crabs or some other dirty diseases if we stay here, so we made the choice to leave after 10 minutes. I rang Hotels.com to request a refund immediately & booked in somewhere else. Hotels.com could not get through to the owners/manager to confirm the cancellation as no one was answering the calls at Broadwater Keys, so they kept trying & called me the next day to tell me they received a response from them about my cancellation. They read out an email that they had received from Broadwater Keys to say that the room we booked with them was was one of their newly renovated rooms & that we had basically made a mess 😲 We made the mistake on taking my 2 year old sons wet swimsuit off when we arrived & had accidentally left it in the bathroom & they had taken pictures of that & sent it to Hotels.com & said WE had made a mess a pfft 😡 Hotels.com asked if we had taken pics,(which we didn’t think to do at the time) so we ended up being charged with the cleaning cost of that disgusting hole. Please don’t get caught like us, if you value you & you’re loved ones health, DO NOT EVER book a room at this dirty, germy place people, I DO NOT lie, it really is that bad 🤢 I feel like calling the health department on them, makes me sick to the stomach that people really do actually stay in these rooms 🤮 this place should be in the minus, by at least 100, just putrid 😷

This place was not ideal for us. It is located right on a busy highway, despite address being listed as a street, interstate visitor here so did not check before booking. The noise all night was horrible! There were even earplugs supplied??? The reception was small and dingy and had to be entered from the main road, a fair walk around from the rear carpark access in another street. There were 3 flights of steps which made carrying up heavy luggage difficult. No assistance was offered. The room was clean however very very old looking with stains and chips on most surfaces. Facilities were acceptable however minimal. A positive was the air conditioning was very effective during the high humidity. Won’t be back!
We have stayed in 3 other places in the area and this was more expensive

For $180 I should have just stayed in a hostel. I have never seen such a disgusting apartment. Filthy floors, dirty bedsheets, someone else’s hair in the shower, rust everywhere, questionable stains, holes all throughout the curtains, melted plastic from burns on the shower curtain and the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. When I eventually worked up the courage to get into the bed, I discovered the bed sheet was wet?!

Just to feel safe we had to lift the screen door and slam it in as it wasn’t even on correctly. We came across TWO Cockroach’s while in the room. The photos online make it look small but tidy and clean. This couldn’t have been further from the truth.

The hosts were sub par also. On checkout, there was a sign saying they were out of office and to call a specific number. I called and was advised just to leave the key there. No pleasantries, no opportunity to discuss the hell hole they’re charging almost $200 a night for. I will never be returning and will be advising everyone I know to stay clear.

Wasn't expecting great things but we paid a good value price for 2 family rooms to sleep 9 for a short break. The rooms were a bit dated but very clean (no funky smells), the bedding and towels were superb and everyone commented on how comfy the beds were. Not the largest rooms but we only really used them to sleep in - small kitchen area if you wanted to make food and washing machine and dryer in the bathroom. The pool and barbi garden area was great - cooked up one evening. Felt safe and served our needs for 2 nights. For more balanced reviews see Booking.com.

The room is comfortable, clean and well maintained. Check in was easy, booked via Booking.Com so everything was done prior to arrival. Bed is comfortable and contributed to a good nights sleep. Although on a main road it gets quiet overnight so didn't really disturb me. Has ample parking off street and undercover. Walking distance to cafes restaurants, seafood sales and a good hotel for drinks and pub food (Grand Hotel). With a pool, bbq area it ends up a good location. Being not far from the theme parks and shopping at Harbour Town(factory outlets) you don't have to spend too long in the car. Right near the Broadwater gives you great walking paths for exercise

Stayed for a night with the family, the apartment was clean and tidy. Manager Patrick was friendly and very helpful. It is a very budget-rated hotel, but have to say it was a pleasant night and a great location. It's not the Ritz by any means, but I have stayed in far worse.

The pool, bbq and outdoor facilities were very good. Close to beach and shops and some excellent restaurants on the foreshore. Easy walk to beach and broadwalk.
We were on the main road so it was a bit noisy. Beds very comfortable and clean.
Staff pleasant and helpful. It is obvious that the complex is being renovated, room by room

well, the so called apartment was disgusting. where to start, hole in security screen door, so waste of time .anyone could get in.cockroaches everywhere day or night. drunks walking around early hours in the morning. The final straw, cockroaches in the BED.my wife woke up at 2.30 in the morning and said she was absolutely disgusted with the room we packed up and stuff and left to drive 3 hours home. I normally use air bnb ,and if anyone else has any brains book with air bnb. its not a plug for them, you will get better accommodation at a much cheaper price.

There's cheap and then there's nasty and this place is the latter.
I would like to be able to say that $60 a night is cheap accommodation but even at that price this place is a disgrace.
The list of what is wrong is longer than the space I've got to type so I'll simply say, do yourself a favour and keep looking for somewhere else to stay.
It's a miracle the place is still open for business.

The property is out dated and run down, the front gates are hanging off, the pool was green, the garden is not maintained and looks shabby. The room was awful, the smoke alarm was hanging off the wall, not working. The lampshades were covered in dust, as were the curtains. The ceilings were covered in cobwebs and the room STANK like cigarette smoke. The TV and furniture were old and the whole place needs an OHS Audit as we are sure it wouldn't pass. We didn't end staying as the smell of smoke was so strong and being a pregnant guest it was not appropriate. When we complained about the room the care takers offered no refund, told us we would get one through our booking agency which we did not. This place needs to be shut down. It is disgusting, the room may have had a clean made bed but that was about all.

No good at all the manager was so rude as I said hr hang up twice such an arrogant man I'm afraid. I don't think I will get the refund but I will be taking it further legally. As I believe some sort of Duty of Care is in place to ensure secure and safe parking for your vehicles, at this place there is none. As for the refund he doesn't stay on the phone long enough to even discuss it. I truly think that this Peter Johnson a "Manager" of the Broadwater Keys Apartments shouldn't be in charge of a chook raffle let alone having any contact with the public at all. He has no manners or courtesy in him. These units should be removed from ALL sites as they simply are not a nice place to visit at all. it is obvious if you read all the reviews I am not the only one who says this there are countless people who have been treated exactly the same as we were... So we have been duped had our money taken from us and not likely to get it back but the courts will have to decide that now as Peter Johnson isn't even willing to discuss the matter at all he takes your money that's it he doesn't care if you have a pleasant time there he gets your money and that's it. Just a warning do your research before committing to pay for any accommodation especially here at the Broadwater Keys Frank Street Labrador QLD its just a shambles of a place......So you have been warned..
