My wife and I spent 2 nights midweek and we highly recommend staying here.

We opted for a Spa and Stream Chalet and were allocated ‘Sleeping Beauty’. The chalet boasts both indoor and outdoor spas, with the latter just meters from the bubbling stream.

The Chalet is equipped with everything you require, our rate included 1 breakfast supplied, plus complimentary port, both were fantastic. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. Robes and 2 sets of towels are supplies and also features a heated towel rail. The room is equipped with a decent size TV and PlayStation which also doubles as your movie player. The fireplace is very easy to use and warmed the Chalet beautifully. An mini iPad is supplied in the chalet and contains tips on the room features and the local area.

You can bring your own food or the retreat offers various platters for all occasions. We found a small Cafe for lunch on Wednesday, although we were lucky as Cafe options appear to be currently limited in town so highly recommend ensuring your meals are sorted prior to arriving.

The Chalet is very private and peaceful and we were not disturbed at any time. You will spot the odd wildlife and it’s an amazing experience to sleep with the sounds of nature and the bubbling stream close by. Meals on the patio with the natural sounds of the rainforest highly recommended. Wayne the host is very friendly and helpful.

Within walking distance are bush tracks featuring waterfalls and lookouts with fantastic views.

We totally enjoyed our stay with The Mouses Houses and we can’t wait to return!

We stayed in Cinderella as an anniversary treat. It is rated as luxury and the setting next to a cascading mountain stream is magical. A private cottage with wood for the woodburner, a spa bath for two inside, plus another one on the covered deck. Wayne, the manager was friendly and helpful. Some fittings like the toilet roll holder on the wall, the bedside lampstand and the metal tray for the port bottle (rusty until I cleaned it), need replacing, as does the seal on the fridge door. The alarm that went off quite easily for us, turned out to be the fridge alarm, indicating the door was not shutting properly. Half the LED lights in the hot tub on the deck were not working and the broken filter basket floated around when hot water was added for our romantic soak. I mentioned the light issue to Wayne before we left and he indicated that he was aware some were not working. In spite of these little disappointments, we enjoyed our three night weekend stay. Hopefully the small amount of TLC needed will soon bring it back to it's former glory!

We found this place through google and fell in love. The day of arrival you get a message with your room name and details. Each has a labelled carpark, cute little luggage trolleys for ease of unloading the car. We had paid our bill in full before arrival so nno need to check in, we could go straight to our chalet. As soon as you walked in it was welcoming. We were amazed at how beautiful it was.

We stayed in sneezy and even though you could see other chalet around it, still felt very private and secluded. No housing keeping during your stay which we liked, if you needed more towels just talk to the office. We paid for a breakfast and dinner hamper during our stay, food was great. If you dont get hampers for your whole stay be prepared with meals and snacks. There is an option to purchase more.

We used the commual hot tub, which was beautiful and amazing. Would be a nice features to put some music on while in there but it was still nice listening to the bubbles and each other.

The hike near by was beautiful and easy to get to.

Our weekend was made even more special as my partner chose that weekend to propose.

Check out was as easy as leaving the key on the table, we didnt get a chance, we forgot to go into the office to say hello/goodbye, but we liked the way of do it all yourself really made it a private weekend away. No need to talk to anyone and we hardly saw anyone else.

We have already decided we have to come back. When we don't know but we will back.

Having read the reviews, good and bad, I find myself agreeing with statements in both camps. Nice area, great views. The cabins are quirky and well equipped, a mixture of modern kitchen, bathroom, and toilet and more traditional lounge and bedroom. Clean from eye level down. A bit dusty and cobwebs higher up The vaulted ceiling was so high I’m sure it’s really difficult to keep clean. We are in “Sleepy”. Thankfully only 2 of us as the second sleeping area could only be accessed by a perpendicular ladder which we could not climb - young athletic types only I fear so definitely double check the facilities you need. You are coming to cabins in the rainforest so manage your expectations and be prepared for the lack of natural light and the smell of damp. We’ve had rain both nights and what I wasn’t prepared for was the constant noise of dripping water from the trees onto the roof. Hard to sleep so not restful but no one’s fault. Make sure you bring plenty of supplies as even eating out at lunch is limited and not all the cafes were open. Check your route and make sure you have a sat nav. Springbrook Rd is currently closed and I understand that’s been the case for a year. Slightly stressful for us overseas visitors trying to follow emailed directions that didn’t mention the road closure. Reverted to google maps but mobile coverage coming up the mountain was inconsistent.

Hi marysC758IW, We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the area and views, and enjoyed your chalet. Understandably, wet weather is less than ideal for a relaxing getaway. We do offer food hampers in the event that local cafes are not open or guests don't wish to bring their own supplies. We hope that you were able to enjoy your time with us apart from the rain, and we have taken your comments on board and appreciate your feedback. Kind regards The Mouse House Rainforest Retreat

We had Cinderella chalet. We walked in and was greeted by wayne, not once did he crack a smile, we felt like second class. All he said was to settle the account and everything you need to know is on the ipad! The front garden area with a table and chair was super dirty looked horrible for a front area of a "flash retreat".We unpacked the car and was heading to our chalet and passed wayne again, my boyfriend asked about wood for the fire and his reply was yes there is but a nice warm jacket can help! Then passed me saying there is a reverse cycle air-conditioniner there! How rude!!! The wood look like it had been collected in the damp forest and stored for years as it was dusty and damp and took forever for it to burn! Luckily we were smart and bought our own. The chalet itself was gorgeous by a beautiful running stream. Our chalet really needs a fix up. The fridge door never shut and when it did the beeping sound kept going, you had to keep banging it shut. The sliding doors don't slide good. The outside spa needs a good revamp, lights half working, strip falling off. Outside chairs absolutely disgusting! Spa inside big but the plug outlet was super mouldy, actually the whole bathroom tiles were all mouldy!!! The bin was so gross and dirty. The electric frypan base was all bubbled and needs to be thrown away! Coffee pod machine no pods supplied just the cheap maccona sachets. $1 each if you buy from them, at least supply a couple we pay enough for the 3 nights! From bedroom to lounge area is a step down, very dangerous if you're not paying attention especially in the dark with lights low. Our chalet is in a lovely spot but needs a good tidy up and clean. It's had its day. The hot tub room is so uninviting! Oh and the huge sign that's new isn't to be seen until you pass the place! Not even on an angle, just faces the bush across the road! We never said anything to management as we felt like he was un approachable from the moment we met him. Sorry Would not recommend.

Hello Helen, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. After 18 months in planning, we are very excited that Cinderella chalet is just about to start her renovation. Unfortunately builders were not available to start earlier after the renovation of Prince Charming chalet last year. We appreciate your feedback, and it’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful location and the running stream near Cinderella chalet. I wish to clarify some of your points. At arrival, I followed our normal full introductions without overloading information. Your comments are incorrect; I always try to smile and view all of our valued guests as important. Your partner arrived in a t-shirt, shorts and thongs. My suggestion for a jumper was for his benefit from the winter temperature as he looked cold and courtesy reminder your chalet has heating in addition to the fireplace as some guests do not realise this option. I strongly reject your comment I was rude - I was simply trying to be helpful. We do not understand your comment about our firewood being dusty and damp. Our firewood, which is commercially supplied is stored in our new wood shed, is burnt by the bucket load by guests who have no issues starting and enjoying this inclusion. Regarding coffee pods, if we include 2 free pods, guests may expect 4, 6 or continuous free pods, so no we won't be changing. For coffee lovers, we suggest guests purchase the pods prior to arrival from Coles etc for around $10.- for a box of 16 in the confirmation email you received. No one as commented on our large front sign, which isn't new. Legally we are are not allowed to have it on an angle, but this doesn't matter as we have three (3) signs prior to our entrance highlighting our retreat entrance. Otherwise we are glad you enjoyed your time and you are welcome to contact us directly at any time if you wish to discuss further. Kind regards, The Mouses House Rainforest Retreat

My friend and I stayed 2 nights at Mouses House in late November 2021, as part of our week’s walking holiday with Auswalk. Both accommodation and food (breakfast, walkers lunch and dinner) were included in our package. Wayne, the host is welcoming, and the amount of food provided for us was substantial and very good quality.
While we did have to cook for ourselves, everything we needed to do so was provided, and a dishwasher took care of the rest. We could have used the provided BBQ but although covered the weather wasn’t conducive.

We stayed in Dopey’s house which had a large bedroom with ensuite spa tub with a private view of the rainforest on the ground floor. The other bedroom was up in the loft, accessed by a ladder - a bit tricky but very doable.
We encountered a few very wet days while there, so the wood fired heater was welcome . The kitchen and bathroom are fairly recently renovated and very modern, while the rest of the cottage has a rustic feel.
The retreat is close to numerous walking tracks and waterfalls, as well as driving distance to a fudge shop for outdoor activities. TV, Internet, board games etc are provided so you can do lots or just laze by the fire.
Enjoyed ourselves and will return.

We stayed in the mouses house over the weekend. It was amazing. We had the privilege to stay in “King Liu “ the spiral staircase to the master room and outdoor spa was incredible. The kind size bed was so comfortable we never wanted to leave it. The outdoor shower was a little too cold to use during the cooler nights and rain but we made good use of the outdoor hot spa with our complimentary bottle of white wine.
The fireplace was incredible and very romantic, I purchased the additional package of Pure Indulgence and wow it was incredible and very large and exquisite.

The little possum that welcomed us at night was a real treat for a city girl. This is a elite 5 star vocation that I have never experienced before. The polished wood was incredible in every way. I loved my stay there and will definitely go back again.
If you wanting a time away from social media, business and stress of daily life then this is the place to visit.
You can even take a ride in the tandem bike or play tennis.

My take home flowers are a lovely treat to my home and just made me feel like I was still in the cottage.

We had the privilege of staying for 2 nights in the King Louie Chalet, what can I say it was absolutely wonderful, from the outdoor hot tub and shower on our upstairs balcony off the main bedroom to the inside spa bath and lets not forget the cedar wood hot tub with the sauna everything about our stay was fantastic, the chalet was beautifully furnished, everything was clean, lots of little touches like port to drink after dinner, Mor toiletries provided in the bathroom and white bathrobes to wear. We were provided a full breakfast for staying in this chalet which was very nice. Our host were very nice and welcoming, we will definitely stay here again.

We booked a couples getaway for the start of November, we stayed in the Dopey Chalet and we were not disappointed. The Chalet was absolutely beautiful, it was clean, well presented and clearly freshly renovated. The Chalet had an i-pad for us to use during our stay, a fully equipped kitchen and even the fireplace was set up so all we had to do was light it.
There are a variety of food platters you can order and we indulged in the cheese and fruit platter. It was amazing and had an abundance of variety.
This holiday was a great treat for us to escape the daily grind, de-stress and relax.
Our host Wayne was fabulous and was easily able to answer all of our questions during our stay. Thank you for being so available and kind to us.
A highlight of our stay was also the abundance of facilities that are on offer here, my favourites include the hot tub spa, sauna, movies that are available and the great WiFi.
We still have another night to go and already thinking about how soon we can get away to come back! Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience.

which rooms are outside the stream you can swim in?
Gold Coast, Australia35 contributions8 helpful votes
Hi Bonnie M, it is the Snow White Chalet. This is the only chalet that had steps down to the rock pool which is part of the flowing stream. It depends on the time of year and how much rainfall the stream has as to how heavy the flow will be. Don’t it’s 7-10 degrees cooler up in the mountains so it will be extremely cold in winter. We went in March and it was very chilly however we loved being in the hot spa and dipping in the rock pool in between! The other Luxury Stream & Spa Chalet that has access to a stream/rock pool is the Cinderella Chalet, however it’s jetty style, so no steps. Hope this helps :)

Nerang has the closest supermarket currently - about 40mins drive away.
Answer from Arlene H

There is a communal hot tub which can be used if you didn't get a cabin with one on the deck. The communal hot tub could also be called private in that when you/your group go into the room with the tub you put the blue mat outside to indicate to other guests that the hot tub is in use. Therefore no one else would go in there when you are using it.

Thanks for your question. Yes, we have spa bath form in the chalets. The little bottle is concentrated so a little bit can make lots of bubbles. Cheers, Wayne - Owner and host
