The Imperial Hotel Gold Coast boasts a vibrant and luxurious atmosphere, complete with live music and ornate decor, although its charm is occasionally marred by an outdated feel as noted by some guests. While the hotel's cleanliness and amenities, including the pool and breakfast selection, generally receive accolades, there is a sentiment of discontent regarding the value, with unexpected charges leading to perceptions of it being overpriced.
Room experiences are mixed, with reports of both pristinely kept and somewhat neglected accommodations. The service is often commended for its attentiveness, despite occasional lapses in responsiveness.

Most of the online reviews considering this place is pricey to stay at Palazzo Versace, but consider each room comes with free breakfast for two and $30 drink voucher, I would say it's a reasonable price to stay two nights for a holiday trip.
We booked two rooms that next to each other, thanks for the room arrangement from the front desk, that we could close the hallway door and open both room doors, much easy for us to visit kids room at night. The swimming pool area is very nice, be there a bit early and you could get free beach chair and bed for the day. Note you get $30 drink voucher each room each day, we spent it on cold drink and pizza while staying in the swimming pool. The free breakfast is another gem of the trip, it's one of the best in Gold Coast, plenty to choose and good for a day.
Don't forget to book a private indoor pool, to enjoy the quiet and private experience next to the spa area. We booked there twice and everyone enjoyed there a lot!
We also love the check-out time is 11am for this hotel, where we could spend the morning time for many other activities after breakfast.
We booked the cheapest room for $500/night in the beginning of Jan 2020. We booked the cheapest price for just $399/night in Sep last year.

The service was warm, friendly & efficient.
It was a welcome change from high rise buildings & in the hotel suite, we were surrounded by beautiful things, the floor, the curtains, the bed bases, the bathroom with the marble tiles. the view out the window, the furniture, all beautiful. The spa bath is a generous size & it was easier than anticipated for my care-recipient, who has mobility issues, to get in & out of the bath, because it's wide & not too deep.
Only 1 negative; there's no supermarket in the area. The nearest one is in Surfers Paradise. The hotel is not too crowded at the moment; it's a good time to stay there if you want peace & quiet.

The decor in the hotel is beautiful and the entrance is very grand when you walk in. We went to check in and the lady said within our package we had a $30 credit on our room, free parking and a free room upgrade. She then went onto say there were no upgrade rooms available so we couldn’t have the upgrade. We were baffled to then not be given anything as an alternative nor be offered a refund for this part of our package.
The hotel rooms are lovely and clean and the jacuzzi bath is great. We went round the pool for a few hours only to see it’s in dire need of a clean! The building on the outside above the restaurant that faces the pool really needs cleaning as does the pool area in general. The poolside toilets were not clean at all. The whole area needs a refurb and some serious TLC, not what you would expect for a 5 star hotel.
We had dinner in the restaurant which was lovely and then booked breakfast for the morning. We were given only a few options as we were told it was very full. We chose 10.15am and arrived for our breakfast at this time. We were never told what time breakfast was served until. When we arrived we were told breakfast closed at 10.30am so we needed to order quick, we couldn’t believe we weren’t told this! We chose the buffet breakfast and had to rush all our food whilst all the staff stared at us and cleaned up around us. Again not what you would expect when paying the price we had! We clearly explained we had not been told it shut at 10.30 and chose 10.15 as the time before was too early around 8am and they were full. The restaurant had only 2 other tables in so I’m not sure why we couldn’t have come earlier? We weren’t apologised to, offered to have the buffet extended, nor were we offered any more drinks after being told we could have as many as we wanted! Very disappointing.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel as it isn’t worth the money we paid. The room and food was lovely but the comments I have made above quite frankly astounded me for the amount we paid. We should have been given a discount on our room price for not been given what we had paid for and a discount off the breakfast price as we didn’t get our money’s worth because of staff mistakes. I have also emailed this review to the hotel as they asked for feedback and have had no reply!

I have stayed at Palazzo Versace many times before and I was so disappointed to discover how badly run-down the hotel was this time. Upon our arrival, the man at reception told us to park our car whilst our room was being checked over. He said he would phone once it was ready. After waiting for over an hour with our tired and impatient two year old, I went to find out why it was taking so long. I was very angry to find out that our room was actually ready straight away but he had forgotten to phone or let us know. At least the woman on reception was very apologetic.
The furniture in the suites was dirty and falling apart and most of the staff were very incompetent. Hence no tips were given during our entire stay. We ordered room service several times and not once were our food trays removed from our room or corridor and often sat in the hotel corridor for over 24hrs.
The pool cabanas were in terrible condition. We booked a cabana for Christmas Day and the roof on our cabana had a huge rip in it and there was left over food and water bottles laying around on the ground from the day before. Whilst we were trying to enjoy our food a bird excreted Faeces above us which went straight through the top of our cabana and all over ourselves and our food. It was a terrible experience. And to make matters worse, once arriving home from our holiday we noticed that we had been charged twice on our credit card for our $300 cabana package. We are now waiting for this extra charge to be refunded to our account. I definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

Visited the Versace for our wedding anniversary and was very disappointed. Check in was just unpleasant, ok the check in time is 3pm but we arrived at 2:30 to be told no room available but they will call my mobile when one is available, never happened. I happened to see someone from housekeeping when we eventually got the room who said our room didn’t have anyone in it after 10am that morning. On allocating the room Reception said they would send our bags to the room, never happened I had to go and retrieve them myself. We then asked for an ice bucket with ice, never happened. The service around the pool was virtually non existent, I had to go to the serving area behind a wall to get a drinks menu and someone’s attention. C’mon guys wake up to yourselves there are so many better hotels, in my opinion, on the Gold Coast and at a more reasonable price. Even on check out I was told that my $300 deposit will be refunded after the room had been ‘inspected to check everything was still ok’ .....really?? The Versace is a 3 star hotel pretending to be something it’s not.

We had a 5 day Luxury Escapes package which had been cancelled twice before due to Covid so we were very appreciative of the hotel that they didn't mind moving our dates three times.
We arrived on a lovely sunny day and we couldn't have found the front desk staff to have been friendlier or professional. They are excellent as is the Concierge area. Unfortunately, we were booked into a Superior Suite on the 2nd floor overlooking the road, which didn't worry us at all but the air conditioning did and that was the first let down. Not once, not twice but four times did a technician come up to our room and try to fix it. Over the five days, we went from freezing cold, to boiling hot and in the end we were told to turn it off and just put it on when we felt the need!! Not exactly a 5 star experience.
Then the cleaning of our room which was very quick as some days we were due to the cleaning staff not arriving until 4pm and then turn down was at 5pm! The worst was that in those 5 days, our sheets were not changed at all. In a 5 star hotel, they are usually changed at least every two or three days.
We had a couple of drinks at the bar and the staff were very tardy. Both times we had only asked for a glass of wine each and yet each time it took well over 20 minutes to arrive and that is when they were quiet.
Finally, the breakfast staff though they tried hard, they just were very lax. We always had to ask for our fruit, yoghurt and croissants to be delivered to our table and if we ordered juice, tea or coffee, we learnt to order it when we were first seated at our table otherwise it just wouldn't arrive until we had finished our meal.
We loved the pool area and the staff who looked after the towels and drinks were excellent.
We felt that the hotel needed a few tweaks to bring it back to how we imagined it used to be. It is a beautiful hotel with glorious features, the floors are spectacular and the chandelier in the main foyer is magnificent.
Our bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. We also received each day new bottles of Versace shampoo, conditioner, bath salts, body lotion and body wash even it the old ones hadn't been used. So very generous.
The seafood platter we received as part of our L.E. package was fantastic as was the Tiramisu Dessert. I also had a wonderful mushroom risotto when dining on another occasion.
Overall, it could and should be a destination in itself as the features in the hotel and around the grounds are incredible.

Stayed here for a girls getaway and was sorely disappointed. Whilst this hotel was offering re-opening sales, not much was actually open. We couldn’t use the indoor spa or pool, only one restaurant was open and large parts of the complex were either undergoing renovation or in need of repair. Only some of the staff were attentive-it was a case of out of sight, out of mind. We ordered drinks by the pool and waited 45 minutes for these to arrive.
There is a 15% surcharge on anything ordered to your room and you will pay $10 for a latte, which is far from special. We were told the buffet wasn’t open because of Covid, but another staff member advised it was available but only on weekends. Same with piano bar.
Our bathroom vanity was leaking and it was all wet underneath but they were less than apologetic and only stuck towel underneath to mop it up.
I think if you are wanting the full luxury experience, you’ll need to book to go on a weekend and in peak time, once the pond has been refilled, the day spa is operational and it is fully staffed. Go across the road to Sheraton for brekky too, much nicer!

We stayed at the Versace hotel for a couple of nights. It was easy to park up and unload our luggage at the front of the hotel and there is free parking under the hotel. We were a couple of hours early and the reception were very helpful and put a request in for our room to be priority for early check in. We enjoyed a light lunch in the lounge area and our room was ready when we had finished.
Our room was on the fourth floor and had a great view overlooking the pool. It was lovely and decorated in true Versace style. Beautiful wooden floors, comfy bed with soft linen, silk cushions and great bathroom with huge bath.
There is a large pool with beach and family area. Also an adult only area which wasn’t that busy, which suited us. There are comfy beds and cabanas to use.
Breakfast was included in our room rate, which was great, with lots of choices.
‘I’m a celebrity get me out here’ was filming which was fun to watch.

Very disappointing after waiting 12 months to finally go on our trip.
I do not recommend buying a hotel package to the Versace Hotel Goldcoast. The service is extremely poor. We were greeted rudely on two occasions when attending the il Bocco restaurant. I expect to be greeted with a good evening ladies not you right there? Also expect that the meal I order to be edible whilst the pasta meal I purchased may have been made fresh it was thick, chewy and under cooked. The bread brought to the table was stale.
We were, also entitled to a seafood plater in our package this too was disappointing the Balmain bugs where dry like they had freezer rash and they were covered in muck as if they had not been cleaned just cut and thrown on the platter. There were other items on the plate which had been so over cooked they looked like they had been sitting in the sun for a week.
On the morning of our first breakfast I asked for warm water with lemon. I received a teapot after drinking the water for a while my sister opened the pot to retrieve a piece of lemon to find the lemon pieces still had the sticker on them. When addressed with the head waiter no apology was received just asked if we wanted a new pot.
Our room was right at the back of the hotel and the only room that did not have carpet. We were meant to have two queen beds and got two double beds our air conditioning is so old it hardly works
We were constantly reminded that we were there on a package
It seems that they are happy to take your money but do not live up to the implied luxury setting and service

Generally I got the impression that the hotel was tired and had not been maintained since it opened.
The check in experience was slow and tedious while one family monopolized the 2 open check in desks as one woman counted out coins. (who does that?)
The check out experience was quick and easy but the promised email of the account did not arrive. I had to chase up.
Only 1 lift was working so everything was slow.
In the room the bathroom lights didn't work, the window shutters were broken, the cabinetry was chipped and worn and the covers on the balcony day beds were shredded...yes shredded. Not a good look. The large water feature outside our window did not work, was dirty and had tiles missing. Why have it?
The pool area is something of a joke. There are so many day beds jammed in that it's ridiculous. People are on top of each other. The service in the pool area is abysmal and absolutely no one takes responsibility or follows up when you enquire how your order is going. We waited 45 minutes for 2 drinks and $25 each for a rum and coke is highway robbery.
When we arrived Jan 1 at 6pm, the whole pool area looked like a 'schoolies week' bomb had gone off. Disgusting! Nothing had been cleaned up and there was crap everywhere. You do not expect that at what claims to be a 5 star hotel.
The house-keeping staff were by far the most efficient and friendly.
Overall, the experience was poor and we won't be going back.

Why not ask the hotel directly for the correct and immediate answer? 🙄 I mean what's with the answer about the casino? there is no casino at the Palazzo Versace.
I don’t think you can. You have to use your room key to get access to the pool area anyway.
However it may be best to confirm this with the hotel direct.
Hi Georgiana
When we stayed there in June guest were using the pool.
I don’t know if the pool is yet. I’d email them directly for an update. It was close about 4-5 months ago.
