First of all, the location is PERFECT. A short walk to the beach and some of the best food you will ever have. We got to know many of the restaurant workers/owners during our stay and they were all phenomenal and always giving us complimentary wine and food! It’s also about a 10 minute walk to the bus stop where you can take a 15 minute ride to Fira for 1.60 EUR per way. The bus runs every 15 minutes I believe.

Now for the hotel itself. It is modern and beautiful. I stayed with a friend so we requested the twin beds and I was surprised at how comfortable they were! I slept better there than I do at home. The room was more spacious than the pictures. The grounds were always well kept and the pools were stunning. The breakfast buffet always had multiple options and the food was very good (plus complimentary mimosas!)

What really makes this hotel stand out, however, is the staff. We got to know George, the bartender at the pool. That man knows his cocktails. We had a lot of fun with him and his banter and often hung out at the bar for a few hours a day. All the drinks were very reasonably priced.

We booked massages at the spa with Kostos. He fixed me right up and I still feel relaxed days after returning home. The massage was 65 EUR for about an hour which I thought was really inexpensive for a quality massage at a hotel spa. Definitely treat yourself while you’re there. If you aren’t sure what you want, just talk to Kostos and he will explain what is best for you!

Finally, I would also like to give a shout out to Dimetra (I hope I am spelling it correctly.) She is an absolute gem! One of the sweetest people I have ever met in my life. I looked forward to seeing her every morning at breakfast.

Everyone works hard here. Our rooms were cleaned daily and staff was always available to answer questions and make our first time in Greece feel like home! We are already planning on coming back to La Mer next year!

We have just returned from a week's stay. We arrived at the Hotel at Midnight and Reception were waiting for us with a slick service and a welcoming smile. The Receptionist recommended a taverna which was open until 2am serving food so after we dropped our suitcases, we went there and the food was wonderful. (Elias Grill Taverna) Our rooms were lovely (we had booked 3 rooms, as our children are 19 and 18). The rooms were lovely (shower and bath) - lovely shower. Really comfortable bed. Air conditioning. Coffee machine although I didn't realise you get charged for using a coffee capsule (only 2 Euros). Breakfast was amazing with everything you would want. 2 pools which were very welcome. A gym which I used. It was so quiet down there and air conditioned. A pool table and a table tennis table which we used. The place was very very quiet so sitting by the pool (on very comfortable sun loungers) was great. You get fresh towels by the pool to use. You also get fresh towels every day in your room and they are cleaned by a very efficient cleaning team. We had seen reviews that the planes were very close to the hotel but in fact this wasn't a problem at all and we had a little game where we guessed the airline before we saw it! You got used to it - the noise wasn't a problem at all. The staff were super friendly and so accommodating. Everyone went out of their way to greet you and always were on hand with any questions. We booked an excursion from the Hotel which was organised efficiently. On the day of departure we were allowed to keep our luggage in a locked room for as long as we needed, and we were able to use the Gym facilities (shower etc) for when we had finished using the pool. The breakfast team were lovely and friendly. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and we would recommend the hotel. The restaurants are a 2 minute walk from the Hotel and you have so many to choose from - restaurants all along the beach front. You can use the sunbeds on the beach but you need to order a drink/snack from the restaurant. The beach is rocky so we bought beach shoes which were cheap so you can swim in the sea without hurting your feet! Food was wonderful. What I liked about the hotel was all the rooms were slightly different with pretty trees, plants and flowers dotted everywhere. It really was a lovely find.

From the start till the end we felt like home, the staff was very friendly and very polite. The place at the hotel is very close to the center of the village and almost 200meters away from the beach. The breakfast is included in the price of the room and we were very surprised from the high quality of the a la carte menu, many choices for everyone and very tasteful. The rooms were very clean, thanks to the ladies. I would recommend the hotel for everyone that wants to escape from his daily routine and have amazing holidays to refresh their batteries. Thank you again

We stumbled upon the La Mer Hotel while delivering a package to some friends who were guests there and we were so very impressed that we changed our hotel to the La Mer the next day! The impressive lobby gives way to a series of rooms around multiple swimming pool areas , with the rooms themselves being designed and furnished extravagantly, without being over the top. The rates were quite affordable, not much more than the 3 star hotel we had been staying at, and they come with an incredible breakfast buffet, champagne included.

But by far and away the best asset that this hotel has is the investment in their staff, everyone was a delight to interact with , from their night manager to the Food and Beverage manager to the housekeeping staff and the daily front counter staff -all quite professional and accommodating to our every need ! We had a medical emergency occur during our visit and the staff was exceptional in assisting us and getting the proper assistance we required , they treat you like family and not just another guest .

I cannot wait until our next visit to their hotel !

We have just come back from a wonderful week at La Mer. The location is good as it is about 100 yards from the semi-pedestrianised sea front where you can find plenty of restaurants, bars and tourist shops. For anyone with mobility problems it is easily accessible and fairly flat to walk to.

Overall the hotel facilities were great and whilst I have mentioned some negatives they were only minor and did not detract from our enjoyment. Yes there is some noise from the airplanes as the airport is close to the resort but not intrusively and certainly in May there aren’t loads of flights.

Our room was a reasonable size with plenty of wardrobe space. Being on the ground floor it kept fairly cool even without using the air conditioning. The bed was nice and comfortable (not too hard) however the pillows were a little firm for my liking. The bathroom was well laid out although the bath was a little high to get in and out of despite a stool being available as I’m only 5’ tall (probably not a problem for someone taller). The room has a mini-bar but if you like a hot drink in the night or early morning then I would suggest bringing a travel kettle as there is only a nepresso type machine in the room for coffee.

There are 2 small quiet outside pools which get both sun and shade with umbrellas, loungers and towels. There’s also an indoor pool in the spa. The only slightly irritating issue was that there were too few sun beds and a small number of rooms had unused ones on their compact terraces. As a result some guests bagged them first thing and then didn’t use them for much of the day. However there are plenty of loungers on the beach and some restaurants offer them to customers for free.

Breakfast included a wide range of food with a selection of hot and cold dishes, various breads, cakes and fruits. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the hotel but I spoke to some guests that did and they all said the food was good. The bar was situated between the 2 pools and had an excellent range of spirits and cocktails. Giannis is a super barman and barista whilst Dimitria covers brilliantly in the mornings. Nothing was too much trouble for either of them.

Finally I would just like to make a short comment about airport transfers. If you arrive on a group transfer the bus/coach stops a couple of hundred yards from the hotel and you have to drag your cases from there down the road to the hotel. We booked a private transfer through our tour operator and we were dropped of at the hotel without a problem. However we discovered that the pickup was due to be at the group pickup point which was not acceptable due to health and mobility issues. Our tour operator insisted that the road was pedestrianised which is a nonsense. Taxis/ minivans do pick up at the hotel and the hotel car park is on the other side of the road to the hotel. To avoid the potential problem I would suggest asking the hotel to arrange your airport transfers. I would also like to thank the hotel reception and concierge staff for being so supportive in getting our pickup arrangements changed.

To be fair, the location of the hotel was really great! Very close to the beach, convenience stores, the bus station, and airport. Other than that it didn’t have much to offer. The rooms were very clean, and inside the rooms we found two bathrobes, slippers, towels and toiletries (which they didn’t replace daily)

The hotel boasts to be a five star hotel, but the rooms, amenities, breakfast buffet and pool situation would suggest it’s a three star at best!

Even though the pool was only steps away from the room, we didn’t enjoy it at all, as the hotel has 45 rooms, accommodating by logic an approximate of 90 people, but had only 11 sun beds to offer. So if you don’t get up at the crack of dawn you won’t be enjoying the benefits you pay to enjoy! There is always the beach, where a dedicated and hardworking beach boy chases after you for not ordering sufficient food and or beverages to compensate for using the sun beds.

The breakfast situation, although tasty is the same every morning with very little to no variety. It’s three types of eggs, salad, toast, croissants, pancakes, and if you are lucky and get up early you might be able to find some watermelon, grapes and three strawberries divided in 40 slices! The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

My favourite thing about this cozy hotel is the fact that has never been mentioned by any reviewers of the hotel. As it is in close proximity to the airport, you can hear and almost feel every incoming flight right from the comfort of your bed and pray the pilot isn’t flying too low to call in at 3, 3:30, 4:15 or 5:00 am…but if anything it’s fun to guess!

The spa: We didn’t use the spa but I did roam through all of the spa facilities and must hand it to the hotel, it looks like a very decent spa with a gym, recreational room with table tennis, a sauna, Turkish bath, hot tub, massage and loungers to relax, all situated under the hotel and easy to access.

All in all, I would say keep this hotel as a backup if you don’t find anything better.

Also to add, after we checked out, we were contacted by La Mer kindly asking us to leave a review (publicly online if we were happy with the hotel but only to contact them personally per email if we had some constructive criticism. However we deem it only fair to share our thoughts online, because that’s why reviews exist in the first place. Hopefully La Mer will agree and take this opportunity to grow!

What a lovely hotel. So calm and inviting. We thought the overhead planes might be an Issue but we were wrong. The room was always spotless, breakfast had everything you could want (inc fizz), and the bar wasn’t intrusive. The mid morning glass of water was a nice touch.

I mostly give positive reviews, but after reading what people complained about and the answers of the hotel management, I had to write down my own point of view.

Let’s start with the positive aspects.
The breakfast staff is forthcoming and very friendly! And the big pool area is quite nice..
If you appear to the breakfast buffet at 8:00 am, you’ll still get your warm meal.
But cold 3 minute“boiled” eggs are too much of a paradox to me!

It appeared to me during my stay that the complaints of the hotel guest weren’t taken very seriously! Since I got bothered by the same issues as everyone else!
And dear management, you really don’t need to reply to this one!!

The receptionist that checked us in a cheeky manner, didn’t even offer us a Glas of water after our long trip, checked us out the same unfriendly way! She didn’t even ask how our stay was!!!!
Let alone not answering to our goodbye!!

I don’t know where all 5 stars fell from!?

The gym is a disaster! The only weigh trainer is faulty!
I measured 80 db of noise from the planes which, dear management, is enough to wake you up from a deep sleep, even while wearing earplugs!
Instead of “complimentary” earplugs, I would work on better isolating doors and windows!
The shower heads in our room also needed maintenance…or need to be replaced!

There are better 5 star hotels worth the money in the same price range!

We stayed at La Mer end of May/beginning of June and WOW it did not disappoint! It was our first time in Santorini and we were unsure where to stay. La Mer was the PERFECT location as it’s right on the beach in kamari and we hired a quad for the day for €50 euros and managed to visit Thera and Oia… we even called in for a drink at Nikki beach which was about 10
Minutes scenic drive via quad!

The staff were just incredible at La Mer… a special thanks to the manager Thomas who was just lovely, helpful, very funny and made our trip extra special! All the staff went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and the breakfast was to die for! Great choice, fantastic coffee and lots of variety!

The rooms were very clean, the beds comfy and air conditioning kept the rooms lovely and cool! It’s a small and intimate hotel which we loved. The pools are lovely and well maintained and the whole place just oozes luxury.

On the last day we did not fly until 11.30pm and the facilities to shower, change Etc were fantastic! Thank you.

We had the most Amazing time at this hotel.. we were sad when it was time to go and we will 100% be back!!

Thank you to everyone who made it the perfect trip! You are all Amazing! Justine and Lee xx

We chose this hotel as it was small and adults only and we were visiting to celebrate our 10th anniversary
We arrived late at night but the welcome was warm and friendly and the night conceierge was lovely and took our luggage to our room when we were very jaded from travelling.
All the staff without exception were professional at all times, nothing we asked for was any bother for them and they went out of their way to help and assist.
Breakfasts were wonderful with a terrific selection every day and with Prosecco available.!
A lovely touch was a fruit basket, water and a bottle of Prosecco delivered to every new guest and being our anniversary our room was decorated and a card was left for us.
It would be unfair to pick out only one member of staff to mention as they were all excellent but obviously we had more interaction with staff who served breakfast.
It was a very special weeks holiday, went in far too quickly and wish we could have stayed longer.
Location was great with easy access to the beach however with such great facilities at the hotel we didn’t go down to sit at the beach. Although a small hotel it had two outdoor pools, a jacuzzi and the basement spa area was lovely. As with so many locations the same people book their sunbeds before the sun comes up and makes it difficult for others however staff removed towels if people failed to use them which allowed others access.
Thank you to Management and Staff

if you would like the scenery that u see on the post cards of Santorini then u have to choose to stay at Fira or Oia. But according to my own liking, I prefer to stay next to Kamari beach because it's much quieter with less visitors compared to Fira and Oia which is so busy. There are at least 40 restaurants along the beach n some shops where u can check out for some souvenir n the La Mer is only 5 minutes from beach and restaurants. You can visit Fira, Oia or some other places in Santorini on a day trip by taxi. It cost between 20 to 40 euros and takes u 15 to 30 minutes to get there. U can choose to take the public bus if u want too but since I took the taxi I have no information about schedule and price. I assure you after a busy day visit at Fira when returning to Kamari u would enjoy the peacefullness that the small village and the black sand beach provide.

You will need to bring one. They do have some at the desk but may not be compatible. The library is walking distance and is where we bought ours
