Escape the fast pace of everyday life and totally relax amongst natural, unspoilt beauty. A superb natural reserve, South Stradbroke Island offers calm inner waterways on one side, virtually untouched native bushland in the centre, and 22 kilometres of pristine surf beach on the other side. Three camping grounds on the island provide a choice of a self-contained cabin, onsite huts and tent sites. There are several ways to get to South Stradbroke Island including boat hire or charter, water taxi or your own private boat. Enjoy delicious meals, refreshments and views at Tipplers Licensed Cafe. Tipplers kiosk supplies basic groceries and camping essentials such as ice and firewood. Facilities include a safe netted swimming enclosure, barbecues and playgrounds. This really is a camping trip to get away from it all!

We’ve stayed three times this year already, we love it!
A fantastic spot, quick to get to as long as you have a boat to get there or use the water taxi service, it’s makes for such an easy and achievable weekend away and when you set foot on the island you feel like a world away from the busy mainland, with beautiful views from the beach side (easy acces) or the Broadwater looking back over the mountains. It blows me away that this hidden gem is so close to the mainland, and yet is so peaceful and surprisingly quiet even with boats passing by (I’m sure there’s the odd party boat but we haven’t experienced that yet). We’ve seen a mix of birdlife, marine life, and mammals. A great spot for fishing too.
Each time we visit we’ve seen the new camp managers make improvements around the camp, it’s great to see, and they’re very friendly, accommodating and have a good amount of supply at the kiosk if you run out of anything, facilities are quite modern and clean too.
Every time we stay, it’s hard to go back to the mainland!

Great place to camp. Perfect location. Close to all the good fishing spots and great/easy access to the Goldcoast Broadwater and the Goldcoast Seaway.
The staff were friendly and the facilities (shower/toilet block) were maintained very well!
The kiosk has a decent variety of items, a little expensive, but considering it's on an island, pretty reasonable prices really.

The cabins at Tipplers are the perfect setup. We had a great weekend (once we got there).
However, just before we arrived the staff rang to see if we wanted sheets, or if were bringing our own. When I booked (and on our check-in day) the website said sheets were included in the price I'd paid, but they wouldn't honour this. I was really disappointed and it tainted our customer experience before we even got there. Make sure you ring and check every detail before you book.

Just let me back this rating up saying we have stayed at South Currigee and other Moreton Bay Islands, several times and basing the review on this. We never felt the welcoming vibe and even after spending a couple of hundred dollars on food and drinks, even on arrival.
Toilets/showers old and dirty and beach and resort has a lot of litter, including broken glass.
Possibly wouldn’t stay again :(

We stayed with 4 kids for 3 nights on sites 19 and 18 and had a great time. The camp site has a beautiful beach in front and is a short stroll to the pristine ocean beach. Bathroom has showers are new and super clean with warm water and a nappy change/ accessible bathroom that was great for attending to our baby. You can hire a site and bring your tent or hire sites with either tents (with bunks included) or shipping containers turned into cabins (no beds). There is a small kiosk that sells ice and fire wood (every camping site has a fire pit). The rangers are really helpful. There is a playground and bbq facilities including sinks. Great place. Great facilities.

Have been visiting North Currigee for a few years, since I bought a boat.
Such a tremendous and accessible location for boat owners, especially with the lagoon providing worry-free mooring. (I usually launch from Paradise Point, but have from Jacobs Well as well.)
The sandy campsites are brilliant, with fire pits suited to a small crowd and big enough to make even the winter months more than comfortable.
The support of the operators has always been outstanding, (Especially Lachlan) with firewood and ice always easy to grab.
The rates per night are incredibly affordable, and the amenities are always in good condition. Sites well maintained, yet nature driven and untouched still.
The ability to watch the sun set on the water is a novelty impossible to tire of.
North Currigee is my favourite place to take 'new' campers and introduce them to beach camping, showcasing Queensland at it's finest.
A great spot to stay put, or venture up and down the Broadwater or out through the seaway chasing bigger fish.
I'll keep going back as long as I'm able to hit the water.

We booked the 4 Huts at Tipplers Campground last weekend. Although quite basic, they were perfect for our organisation's Weekend Youth Marine Conservation Camp. Tipplers Cafe is only a short walk away for reasonably priced meals, and we also made use of the walking track to the surf beach and the volleyball court. Booking our stay was easy, with friendly staff ready to answer any questions we had. A big thanks from all of us at New Beginnings!

The good is the location , natural environment , native animals and great breakfasts and coffee . All good so far . Then there is the water and camping facilities . The water came out of the taps black . All 5 of use refused to use the taps or showers . The condition of the facilities is very run down . The lack of any cleanliness was terrible. The smell was horrible . We had to wash our hands and bodies and brush our teeth all with bottled water . Also dont forget your bug spray / aeroguard . They will charge you $20 a can if you need some .
Either they need to clean and maintain the facilities or shut them down . Because they are foul and unusable and I truly suspect a health hazard . So as long as you dont expect to use their water or showers its ok . I know its camping but dont provide facilities if you dont keep them to a respectable standard . Its such a shame because it is a beautiful part of the world

We had the best weekend at South Currigee camp ground on South Stradbroke Island. The weather prediction wasn't great so we opted to stay in one of the island shacks instead of camping. We chose shack 1, right on the broadwater beachfront. It was perfect. No one was camping near us, it felt like we had the island to ourselves. Table and chairs and fire pit was awesome. Cute wallaby visitors and fishing right out the front. Caught fish for dinner which we cooked on the fire. So delicious. Short walk to the surf beach. Nice clean amenities. Thanks South Currigee, can't wait to return!

Hello Leonardo
We've uploaded a video. Although a little outdated (2010-11) as far as facilities shown, there is some good footage of the island overall.
Tipplers Licensed Cafe has been beautifully face-lifted and we have scheduled to produce new photos soon for uploading.
In the meantime, enjoy the video!
