Arrived on the Gold Coast to pouring rain, but my stay was awesome, my room was quiet with a view of the pool and only a quick walk to Broadbeach. The team were super helpful, check in was quick and easy and they were able to help with a later check out due to the rain which really helped with my flight delays, Excited to stay again!

Staff were friendly and helpful. Apartment was fantastic and close to many amenities. Loved the pool and spa also. Definitely a handy spot for accommodation to stay at within walking distance of many delicious restaurants and shopping at Pacific Fair.

My partner and I came from Victoria and since the beginning before we even arrived the hospitality provided by Portobello was unmatched. During all the uncertainty of COVID, we weren’t sure whether we would end up arriving or not. The owners (Dorelle and Marty) went out of their way to help ease our worries, letting us know that they wouldn't take any payments before we arrived. Upon arrival they greeted us at the reception, and were very helpful and friendly, giving us a run down of the area and the best places throughout Broadbeach and surfers paradise. When our hot water was playing up, they offered the room next to us to be able to use until our room was back up and running again. You couldn’t ask for more! The room itself has everything you need, from a microwave and an oven to a washing machine, dryer and a comfortable bed to sleep on! The location was perfect, being 200 metres from The giant Shopping complex and only a few blocks down from the broad beach shops and food strip. The beach is only a short walk and there is a private back entrance to get in and out of the place. Not to mention the tram and bus stop was right across the road, making it easy to get to the big theme parks and surfers Paradise. We didn’t have to travel far for everything we needed! On our final day they allowed us to keep our room till 1pm until we left for our flight, instead of the normal check out at 10am. And when our flights got delayed they provided us the room next door to be able to leave our bags and relax until we had to leave again. Both Dorelle and Marty went above and beyond with everything they did for us, and I would happily stay there again without a second thought. My partner and I are very thankful and would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy an affordable and cozy getaway.

Stayed here for four nights just after Easter. Contacted the resort to confirm they were open (Google had other ideas), and was able to secure a good deal booking direct rather than through a third party. Though I arrived after reception was closed, I was able to easily get my key and access my apartment. The one bedroom apartment was spacious and comfortable, with all the mod-cons I needed including effective Air-Con, a ceiling fan, full-sized fridge and cooking facilities, and a generous balcony overlooking the pool. Nights were quiet, sleep was excellent. Bed was the right kind of firm, pillows were soft but supporting. The Pool and Spa provided a welcome respite, and being a fairly small kind of place, never felt crowded. Location was very good - across the road from Broadbeach South tram station and bus terminus, also across the road from Pacific Fair, and a 10 minute walk up to Broadbeach Oasis shopping centre, restaurants and cafes. It's at the quieter end of Gold Coast Hwy on Broadbeach, but everything you need is within walking distance if you don't have a car (Or a tram ride away at the most). Management were very friendly, from my initial call through to ensuring I had received my check-in details, and allowing me flexibility on day of check-out to keep my bags in my room until I needed to leave for home. Would not hesitate to recommend to families, couples or solo guests, and would stay here again.

We stayed here for the first time for the long weekend in January. We stayed in one of the apartments they call a penthouse. It was a two level apartment situated on the top floor. The apartment was spacious and very clean and had been updated fairly recently updated. Two balconies provided views to the pool, city and hinterland, with the top balcony being very large with corner spa. The kitchen lacked a little and would have been great to have had some plastic plates and cups for children. The pool and spa area was lovely, they are currently upgrading games area but overall perfect for families. Parking was free undercover. These apartments are situated in a super spot right across from Pacific Fair shopping Centre and the tram, plus a short stroll to the beach. My only negative was no lift...with all our bags a.nd groceries it was a huge haul up four flights of stairs. New managers......were lovely, hope they do very well.

On the Gold Coast for Supanova, we needed reasonably priced accommodation close to shops and the convention centre, and found it in Portobello Resort Apartments. They were within walking distance of Pacific Fair, the convention centre, tram stations and the beach, so our car never left the secure underground parking once we arrived. Our single bedroom apartment was very cute, with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, lounge and laundry all fitting into a compact but uncrowded and comfortable space. There is also a heated pool and spa. The apartments are on the Gold Coast highway but very quiet, and very secure too. The price we paid for 2 nights at the start of the school holiday period was very reasonable, especially compared to surrounding resorts, and excellent value.

Well located units. Short walk to beach. Opposite Broadbeach South transport hub (trams and buses) Also opposite Pacific Fair Shopping Centre (huge). Close to Broadbeach Mall which has numerous quality restaurants(with cheap breakfasts etc) and another shopping mall(Woolworths). Casino and Dracula's Caberet are within walking distance. Units are well appointed and property has Pool, Spa, BBQ, games room. Good security and quiet, peaceful gardens. Good value. There are stairs to apartments but units are excellent with rear entry from property to walk to beach and Mall.

We spent two weeks here this month (October) in one one bedroom apartment and one two bedroom apartment. Hosts were great and very attentive. Apartments were both clean and tidy and well equipped. Excellent security on site and underground car park is also secure (and free!). Great pool area including jacuzzi and gas bbq. Games room for kids on site. Amazing location. Just a block and a half to the main beach. 750 metres walk to new surf club which does great meals. Right across the road from Pacific Fair for amazing shopping. A convenience store and liquor shop is in the next block and open long hours for the essentials. Did I say amazing location? The beds were fine and plenty of pillows, blankets, towels etc. A great place for family and nice and peaceful - away from the hustle of Cavill Avenue.

Stayed here recently. You get what you pay for, stairs to the apartment, good secure parking, compact unit. The bathroom tiles need cleaning, especially behind the door, i wonder how long the jogger print has been sitting there and grout needs some attention in the cleaning side. If you're there for more than one night be sure to bring toilet paper. The balcony was very sandy and gritty so a broom would have helped to sweep it, or clean it before a guest checks in. Location of the rubbish bins wasn't clear so we took our rubbish home and it was only when we were driving out that we noticed the skip up on the verge of the property. I'm guessing that this was our bin. Another thing that really gets up my nose is, they have your credit card details and in the guest information book clearly states "you must leave your apartment clean and tidy or you will be charged for cleaning". I guess thats how that foot print was left behind the bathroom door. I assume that after you leave, they give the apartment a sweeping glance and say "sweet" chamber maid isn't need here except to change bed and towels. Location was perfect, walk to almost everything necessary.

Response from PortobelloManagement, Manager at Portobello Resort Apartments

Hi Happy Snapper, Fancy this we must be honoured that you would take the time to make two reviews for the one stay here, one through Hotels.com and now Trip Advisor again we don't know who you are and some of your account above is misleading. Our housekeeping team would be a little upset about your claims and I will pass this onto them, if only we knew where you stayed. I would remind you that we are a self-contained apartment building which means - we supply a starter pack for all guests on arrival - meaning toilet roll, soap shampoo tea coffee milk and all linen. Once these supplies are exhausted you top them up as required. This is another way we can give the benefits of a competitive tariff. Credit card details are needed by every guests for security reasons on the unit and as you say if the unit was left in a disgraceful mess we would charge those guests because the housekeepers would pass the extra work and charge us accordingly. In your case you weren't charged as you did remove your rubbish prior to your departure. I hope by describing this you now understand what you booked as it clearly states this on our own website, however you may have not read this on the other sites you visited. Regards Gerard & Shirley Mgmt.
